FLINT, MI A suspect has been arrested and charged in a recent fatal shooting in Flint.
Kenyatta L. Walters Jr., 31, on Friday, May 7, appeared in Genesee County District Court for arraignment on single counts of felony murder, first-degree home invasion, larceny from a person, and felon in possession of a firearm, plus three counts of felony firearm.
A conviction of felony murder comes with a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The charges stem from a shooting that occurred in the 2900 block of Prospect Street at 2:47 a.m. Thursday, April 29. Responding officers found 31-year-old Taquitta K. Barber had been shot multiple times in her home.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI A sheriff’s deputy was among those caught in the most recent sex-trafficking sting by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office GHOST operation.
Benjamin Reinhart, 24, was arrested and fired from his position over the weekend after he allegedly exchanged messages with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl online, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said during his weekly news briefing on Wednesday, April 28.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI Three Oakland County lawyers have been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly filing fraudulent documents in Genesee County courts.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton and county sheriff Chris Swanson announced the charges at a Tuesday, April 6, news conference.
Marc Fishman, 70, and Ryan Fishman, 32, of Bloomfield Township, along with Alexandra Ichim, 33, of Waterford Township all lawyers with the Fishman Group law firm in Bloomfield Hills are charged with one count of criminal enterprises, also known as racketeering, a 20-year felony, and obstruction of justice, a 5-year felony.
