GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Housing Authority met Monday night and went into executive session for more than an hour and half to discuss the appointment of a new executive director, but then emerged from the closed door meeting without having hired anyone.
After the meeting, GHA Board President Brenda Liett said the board hopes to resolve the vacancy soon. “We want the director replaced as soon as possible, but I can’t give you any other information,” she said.
Former GHA Director Amanda Ossenfort left the authority in April, a little more than six months after inking a four-year deal to oversee the authority’s three low-income and senior housing apartment complexes.
GLOVERSVILLE Gloversville Housing Authority Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort is out of that position, effective Thursday.
GHA Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Brenda Leitt on Thursday afternoon verified the departure, but declined to say whether Ossenfort was terminated or simply resigned on her own.
“She is no longer employed,” said Leitt.
She said she had no other details to relate about her departure at this time, including who will be doing the GHA’s day-to-day duties now until a replacement is found. She said she “couldn’t say” who was administering the authority currently.
Leitt did say that the GHA Board of Commissioners will conduct an emergency meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the authority office at Dubois Garden Apartments. She said the meeting will be mostly a closed-door, executive session.

GLOVERSVILLE The Gloversville Housing Authority will soon offer an online payment portal and will remove fees for automatic payments to improve rent payment options for tenants. The authority is also gearing up to resume the lapsed enforcement of fees for repairs related to damages caused by tenants and for failure to clean up pet waste.
Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort reported to the Board of Commissioners on Monday that she is currently working with the authority’s web designer to update the GHA website.
Beyond “tweaking” the overall site, Ossenfort indicated the largest objective of the update will be to introduce a payment portal that will enable tenants to pay rent online for the first time. The online payment option is targeted for roll out by April 1.
