Gloversville Housing Authority board hires new director | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS Shares0 GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Housing Authority Board of Directors on Thursday voted to hire Jason Mazur to a four-year contract to serve as the authority’s sixth executive director since 2017. Mazur, a Johnstown resident, said his most recent job had been working as warehouse supervisor at the Dollar General distribution plant in the town of Florida in charge of shipping operations. He said over the last 15 years he’s worked in managerial positions for three different businesses, all related to distribution. “This position is obviously going to be new it’s a change of career field for me,” he said. “It’s a challenge. It seems like a role I can embrace. I’m good with people. I understand financials.”

After the meeting, GHA Board President Brenda Liett said the board hopes to resolve the vacancy soon. “We want the director replaced as soon as possible, but I can’t give you any other information,” she said. Former GHA Director Amanda Ossenfort left the authority in April, a little more than six months after inking a four-year deal to oversee the authority’s three low-income and senior housing apartment complexes.

GLOVERSVILLE Gloversville Housing Authority Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort is out of that position, effective Thursday. GHA Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Brenda Leitt on Thursday afternoon verified the departure, but declined to say whether Ossenfort was terminated or simply resigned on her own. “She is no longer employed,” said Leitt. She said she had no other details to relate about her departure at this time, including who will be doing the GHA’s day-to-day duties now until a replacement is found. She said she “couldn’t say” who was administering the authority currently. Leitt did say that the GHA Board of Commissioners will conduct an emergency meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the authority office at Dubois Garden Apartments. She said the meeting will be mostly a closed-door, executive session.

aonyon@leaderherald.com GLOVERSVILLE The Gloversville Housing Authority will soon offer an online payment portal and will remove fees for automatic payments to improve rent payment options for tenants. The authority is also gearing up to resume the lapsed enforcement of fees for repairs related to damages caused by tenants and for failure to clean up pet waste. Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort reported to the Board of Commissioners on Monday that she is currently working with the authority’s web designer to update the GHA website. Beyond “tweaking” the overall site, Ossenfort indicated the largest objective of the update will be to introduce a payment portal that will enable tenants to pay rent online for the first time. The online payment option is targeted for roll out by April 1.

Coronavirus causing GHA delays | News, Sports, Jobs

GLOVERSVILLE Coronavirus fear, quarantine and illness have created delays at the Gloversville Housing Authority. GHA Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort indicated to the Board of Commissioners that due to the coronavirus it will not be possible to complete annual inspections of all units at DuBois Garden Apartments as required by the end of this month by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. “There’s a lot of people that don’t want people in their apartment and there’s a lot of people that are on quarantine. So, we’re going to do as many as we can safely,” said Ossenfort during the Jan. 11 board meeting that was conducted remotely via videoconference.
