KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The Knox County Sheriff s Office said the man suspected in a stabbing at a West Knox County Days Inn has been charged with attempted murder.
Authorities were hunting Thursday morning for a man reported to have stabbed another man at the West Knox County motel.
Some schools near the Days Inn on Parkside Drive were on lockdown as a precaution because the suspect may be on foot.
Authorities were called about 9:30 a.m. to the motel on the stabbing. The victim, identified as David Mase, had been stabbed in the neck, according to the Knox County Sheriff s Office.
Seven demonstrators were arrested at the City-County Building during a Knox County Commission work session Monday evening.
Some 30 to 40 people filed into the back of the Large Assembly Room and then raised their fists at 6:30 p.m. Although most remained silent, some began yelling at the commission, calling for the release of police bodycam video from a shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School that resulted in the death of student Anthony J. Thompson Jr.
Less than five minutes later, they were escorted out.
Knox County Sheriff s Office spokeswoman Kimberly Glenn said in a statement that the seven were accused of violating signs posted at all entrances and on the large assembly doors.
