Roadmap to Recovery One of the chamber’s first major initiatives was to create a Roadmap to Recovery, identifying recommendations and markers that helped businesses and the community begin recovering from the impacts of COVID-19. The chamber convened business leaders across all sectors to build a plan that supported industries countywide. The chamber has initiated a Roadmap to Recovery Phase II to be shared in July.
Representing Business to Government: State of the City and State of the County The chamber held a three-part State of the City Series featuring Carpinteria, Goleta and Santa Barbara in 2020 and 2021. They also covered the collective accomplishments and updates when, in 2020, the chamber hosted its first virtual State of the County.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A new, 3D holographic exhibit has opened on the second floor of MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation, in Santa Barbara.
The exhibit is called The History of the Internet and takes place in a room that powers all museum operations, visitor services and interactive exhibits.
The space was reimagined in collaboration with internet provider Cox Communications. Now, when guests enter the room, they will be greeted by a friendly holographic robot named Photon.
Cox explained Photon s job is to ensure everything in the server room runs as fast and smoothly as possible.

Larry Doris of Agilent Technologies was the SBSCC board member who led the manufacturing and technology sector group. With regards to the importance of the chamber’s industry specific process, he said, “In a fast moving industry like technology, the uncertainty of the world in both the short- and long-term was concerning. By convening business leaders, elected officials and employees by industry, we were able to identify paths that allowed each group to move forward with direction and contribute to a healthy business community and economy.”
