By Benjamin Cox on December 28, 2020 at 6:09am A Greene County teen remains in the hospital after a single-vehicle crash outside of Carrollton in the early morning hours from Saturday. Carrollton Police, Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies, Illinois State Police District 18 troopers, and local EMS were called to Illinois Route 108 near southeast 300 th Avenue, about 1 mile east of Carrollton, at approximately 2:20 in the morning Saturday for a single-vehicle rollover accident. According to State Police reports, 18 year old Easton Smith of Carrollton was traveling east on Illinois Route 108 in a 2009 Black Ford Mustang and failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road. The Mustang then struck an embankment and rolled several times. Smith was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains this morning according to social media sources. ....
It did not take long for authorities to locate and arrest the man suspected in the armed robbery of a Carrollton Dollar General Store late Thursday. He had allegedly left the business with an estimated 1,700 dollars. According to the report filed by Officer Cody Kenerly, just before 10:00pm Thursday, officers were dispatched to the Dollar General at 1515 Bankhead Highway in reference to an Armed Robbery in progress. Kenerly was the first on the scene. He made contact with the store manager, who stated the suspect had left and was wearing a gray jacket and dark pants with a red face mask. ....

Six finalists named in Fort Worth police chief search By FOX 4 Staff FORT WORTH, Texas - The search for Fort Worth s next police chief is down to six finalists. Fort Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus is retiring after 28 years of service and announced he would step down back in July. The finalists include two internal candidates and four from outside the department. The internal candidates are Deputy Chief Neil Noakes and Assistant Chief Julie Swearingin. The external candidates are: Houston Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge, Austin Assistant Chief Troy Gay, Las Vegas Municipal Police Department Assistant Sheriff Christopher Jones, Carrollton Police Chief Derick Miller. ....
