No officers hurt in drive-by shooting at Carrollton Police Department By FOX 4 Staff article CARROLLTON, Texas - Several Carrollton police officers had to duck for cover during an early-morning drive-by shooting at the police station. It happened around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at the Carrollton Police Department’s headquarters on Jackson Road. Police said someone drove by and fired multiple shots at the building.  Three officers who were arriving for their shift had to duck down to avoid being shot. They were not hurt. That first shot was followed by about seven to eight more shots, said Chief Derick Miller. One of the officers advised that they heard the round hit the fence which caused the officers to duck and take cover in the parking lot. A vehicle was seen in the exact same moment coming from the east to the west at a high rate of speed. A former Texas school district employee accused of killing his boss nearly eight years ago is facing murder charges after he was captured in Mexico and returned to the U.S. on Tuesday, authorities say. The suspect, Gerardo Alvarez, was wanted in the fatal shooting of Todd Fenton, a groundskeeping supervisor at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) in 2013. Alvarez worked for the school district at the time. He fled to Mexico after the shooting, authorities said. For the past seven years, detectives worked with the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force and Mexican authorities to find and take him into custody, according to a news release by Carrollton police.

Share and speak up for justice, law & order. CARROLLTON, Texas  A former Texas school district employee who has been on the run for seven years is now back in North Texas to face murder charges. Carrollton police said Gerardo Alvarez was wanted for killing Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Groundskeeping Supervisor Todd Fenton in 2013. Alvarez worked for the school district at the time and Fenton was his boss, KDFW reported. A school bus driver found Fenton’s body in the district’s maintenance barn on the night of Oct. 2, 2013. He had been shot several times in the back. Police said Alvarez was seen on surveillance video at the bus barn around the time of the murder. He also didn’t show up for work the next day, making him a prime candidate in the murder investigation.
