HPD meets with families to discuss violent crime crisis
HOUSTON – Still in pain and recovering after being shot nearly three weeks ago, Anthony Perez, who spokes to KPRC 2 from his hospital bed, said he’s now paralyzed from the waist down.
He said he was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire of a drive-by at a convenience store along Northborough.
“It’s not safe out there and I’m living proof of that. I shouldn’t have been hit by a stray bullet, I shouldn’t have been hit by bullet period,” said Perez.

Tuesday marks one year since George Floyd s death
HOUSTON – It was a year ago today George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer, sparking an international movement and demands for change.
Houstonians and community leaders gathered Tuesday afternoon at Cuney Homes for a balloon release held by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee along with a tribute located along Truxillo Street until 6 p.m.

HOUSTON The family members of George Floyd and attorney Ben Crump shared their feelings Saturday after a federal grand jury indicted the four former Minneapolis police officers involved in Floyd s fatal arrest.
According to the indictments unsealed Friday, the men are accused of violating Floyd s constitutional rights as he was restrained face-down on the pavement and gasping for air. They re also accused of failing to provide Floyd with medical care.

Members of George Floyd’s family on Saturday praised the news that four former Minneapolis police officers will face federal charges in connection to his death, saying they were “very grateful.”
Floyd’s nephew Brandon Williams said during a news conference held not far from the Houston apartments where his uncle grew up that the indictments “meant the world” to his family.
“If you saw that video, it’s self explanatory. We all know that it was a murder and a torture in broad daylight,” Williams said, referring to bystander video that showed the officers restraining George Floyd in late May 2020, with one kneeling on his uncle’s neck. “We all know that his civil rights were violated.”
