Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, July 25 : The Indian Armed Forces have increased deployment of more men and material on ground to carry out relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa, caused by incessant rains and consequent overflowing of riverbanks and dams. Working in close coordination with the administrations of worst-hit Ratnagiri, Kolhapur and Sangli districts of Maharashtra, the Indian Army has deployed Task Forces, comprising Infantry, Engineers, Communication, Recovery and Medical teams in the affected areas.

NDRF team carries rescue, relief operations in flood-affected Maharashtra s Chiplun ANI | Updated: Jul 24, 2021 09:30 IST Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) [India], July 24 (ANI): Following heavy rainfall, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team carried out rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected lower Chiplun area in Maharashtra s Ratnagiri district on Saturday. As per the official figures, at least 129 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra over the last two days as the state continues to receive heavy downpours. The Regional Meteorological Centre of Mumbai has issued a port warning for Maharashtra-Goa port. Due to active monsoon conditions, Squally weather with wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph likely to prevail along and off Maharashtra-Goa coast. The Mumbai-based Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy has mobiliesed Flood Rescue Teams and Helicopters to provide assistance to the state administration. Despite adverse weather conditions and widespread inundation in affected areas, a total of seven naval rescue teams departed by road for deployment to the Ratnagiri and Raigarh districts on 22 July 2021 from Mumbai, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement on Friday (23 July).
