3 charged with home invasion, ethnic intimidation of Black family in Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich (WXYZ) â Three people are facing charges of ethnic intimidation after allegedly breaking into a Black family s home in Walled Lake, then threatening to kill them while using racial slurs.
Branden Odegaard, 37, Michael Graves, 47, and Macy Kathleen-Grant Pietryga, 26, all of Wolverine Lake, were charged by the Oakland County Prosecutor s Office in connection to the April 26 incident.
âI want to be very clear that I have zero tolerance for hate crimes, said Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said. Hate has no place here in Oakland County, and I will do everything in my power to hold those who attempt to threaten or harm our residents accountable.â

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday it had charged two white men and a white woman with ethnic intimidation after the group allegedly broke into the home of a Black family and one defendant used a racial epithet during the break-in.
During the incident, which occurred early Monday, the defendants threatened to kill the occupants, including two children, said a news release from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Michael Graves, 47, and Branden Odegaard, 37, were each charged with one count of 1st-degree home invasion, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000; as well as one count of ethnic intimidation, a felony punishable by a prison term of up to two years and a fine of up to $5,000, the release said. Maci Pietryga, 26, is charged with aiding and abetting 1st-degree home invasion, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000, as well as one count of ethnic intimidation.

HAZEL PARK/WARREN Four people are in jail awaiting charges after they led police on a car chase across three cities. The chase started when police received word that someone in the suspect vehicle had fired a gun at another vehicle traveling behind them.
The incident, described in a police report as a case of road rage, occurred at 2:05 p.m. April 12 in the area of Woodward Heights Boulevard and Couzens Avenue.
The victims were two Hazel Park men, ages 50 and 29. They were not injured. The shots were allegedly fired in their direction but did not strike them or their vehicle.

Four people were arrested Monday after an alleged road-rage shooting in Hazel Park led to a police chase through two cities, which ended when the vehicle crashed.
Officers were alerted at about 2 p.m. of shots fired from a 2007 Dodge Nitro at a car behind it near Woodward Heights and Couzens, police said in a statement. The two people in the car allegedly targeted were not struck.
Officers spotted the Dodge near Eight Mile and John R and tried to pull it over, but the driver sped off, police reported.

Suspects in road rage shooting crash in Warren after leading police on pursuit
A suspected Hazel Park road rage shooting at a city work truck led to a police chase and crash by the suspects in Warren.
Three of the four suspects were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after crashing. The two people who were allegedly shot at inside a city work truck were not hit by the suspects, police say.
A 19-year-old man, two 18-year-old men, and a 19-year-old woman, all from Detroit, were inside the suspect vehicle.
