We stand by our Bowmans status report
By Opinion
We stand behind our story.
The Daily News and The Star have noted Eskomâs statement and an attempt to undermine the report published last week about Bowmansâ status on the Eskom Database panel.
We stand by our story, and the facts in the story that Eskom has not disputed, nor refuted.
In its statement, Eskom accepts that Bowmans is not in the current panel of attorneys, which is the centre of the story.
The company did not provide any proof of the now alleged arrangement with the National Treasury.
If the National Treasury arrangement existed, the head of Legal, Nerina Otto, would not have been confused about the mandate and legality of the contract of Bowmans, as revealed in her email.

DURBAN - IN AN ONGOING battle between Eskom and Econ Oil & Energy, new evidence obtained by the Daily News suggests that Eskom executives, led by the entity’s chief executive André de Ruyter may have overstepped their mandate and illegally appointed Bowmans law firm in an effort to push out the black female-owned fuel supplier.
In what sources close to developments have termed a carefully co-ordinated approach, insiders and evidence suggest that Eskom misrepresented the truth when it claimed in some media reports that its suspended chief procurement officer, Solly Tshitangano, with three other officials, allegedly cancelled Bowman’s investigation without the knowledge of chief operating officer, Jan Oberholzer.

DURBAN - Econ oil on Tuesday slammed the claims made against it in an exclusive article published by News24.
In a statement the company said that the story which links it to allegations of corruption at Eskom’s Kusile power station had been published despite the fact that it had never been charged with corruption.
The company said it is concerned with the continued propaganda smear campaign against it by the mainstream media.
