(WFIE) - Hundreds of thousands of dollars are currently at work to study violence in Evansville. The Evansville Board of Public Works approved $380,000 for the study, which will be performed by the “National Network for Safer Communities.” Their goal is to reduce group and gang violence. “They did really have a great deal of success with this program,” Marco Delucio, Counsel for the City of Evansville said. “Many areas of the country, which is one of the reasons the administration was drawn to them.”

(WFIE) - On Friday, the University of Evansville Board of Trustees met to consider the new realignment plan announced Thursday. Board members say they amended the motion from the Executive Committee to ensure the three majors proposed for elimination (Art History, Philosophy, and Religion) go to the Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Senate for their recommendation to the president prior to the board formally considering their elimination. Trustees voted unanimously to approve the overall institutional realignment plan, as amended.

(WFIE) - University of Evansville President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz has announced a new realignment plan with fewer cuts. The plan will be presented to the board Friday. Last December, UE announced an academic realignment plan that would possibly have eliminated 17 majors from the university. Thursday’s announcement includes changes to academics, athletics and administration. Officials say it ensures that UE will continue to offer 75+ majors and remain a part of Division I athletics.
