Building off of yesterday’s American League conference call agendas, let’s move on to the National League and see what’s on the docket for the teams of the senior circuit.

We’re over .500 and we’re banged up. This team is better than people on the outside thought. That said, I don’t think we’ll be exceptionally busy in terms of buying this summer. We’re not catching the Padres or Dodgers, and let’s not forget about the Giants. Let’s stick to the plan and just keep getting better long-term.
The rotation has been up-and-down, and Corbin Martin is probably the only minor league piece with a chance to contribute in that area. Let’s get some ideas going as to how we get through 162 games with depth issues in that department.

Los Angeles, which has dropped three straight to Milwaukee, also lost starter Dustin May to an apparent injury after just 27 pitches.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said May felt “kind of a shooting sensation” through his arm on a curveball he threw. The right-hander is headed to the injured list, and plans are for him to undergo an MRI in Chicago on Monday.

But Milwaukee, despite having the lowest team batting average (.215) in the NL entering Saturday and having 16 players on the injured list, responded.

Brewers placed right-hander
Eric Yardley on the 10-day injured list (placement retroactive to April 30) due to a right shoulder strain. An extreme grounder specialist, Yardley posted a 1.80 ERA over 35 innings with the Padres and Brewers in 2019-20, but struggled to a 5.73 ERA over his first 11 innings of 2021.
Yardley is the seventh pitcher and the 16th player overall on an incredibly crowded Milwaukee injured list. Despite missing so many key players, the Brewers are still 16-10 and in first place in the NL Central, though one wonders if the loss of healthy manpower will eventually catch up to the team.
