Thailand urges people against believing offers of coronavirus vaccines

The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not provided any certification for the use of Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand and warned people against believing any person or establishment that promises to get them vaccines by reservation.
The Department of Health Service Support’s Dr Thares Krainairawiwong said: “On December 26, a private hospital in Bangkok announced its offer of Covid-19 vaccines at 4,000 baht [$133] per person for the first 1,000 customers who made reservations before January 31.

BANGKOK (The Nation/ANN): The Thai Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not provided any certification for the use of Covid-19 vaccines in Thailand and warned people against believing any person or establishment that promises to get them vaccines by reservation.
Dr Thares Krainairawiwong, Department of Health Service Support, said that“On Dec 26, a private hospital in Bangkok announced its offer of Covid-19 vaccines at Bt4,000 (US$132) per person for the first 1,000 customers who made reservations before Jan 31, ” he said.
“Currently the FDA has not permitted any healthcare operator to provide Covid-19 vaccine to patients and such an advertisement by the hospital could be an exaggeration.

The Department of Health Service Support on Wednesday instructed private hospitals nationwide to provide free Covid-19 tests for at-risk groups of people.
Director-general of the department Thares Krassanairawiwong said a new wave of Covid-19 infections in Samut Sakhon last week sparked grave concern among local residents as well as those who had visited at-risk areas.
The department asked all private hospitals nationwide to strictly comply with the Public Health Ministry s announcement on medical costs incurred by Covid-19 patients, he said.
