ALBEMARLE Co., Va. (WVIR) - Wawa will have gas at its Grand Opening on Thursday at both new Proffit Rd. and Pantops locations.
On Wednesday afternoon, Wawa previewed the formal ribbon-cutting set for Thursday morning, when the stores open at 8 a.m.
Wawa gave guests a look inside and a taste-preview of some Wawa signature hoagies.
“We’re opening with fuel tomorrow and we’ll do our best to stay in stock and do what we always do - be there with for customers and that’s what we will continue to do,” said Adam Schall, the senior director of store operations.

ALBEMARLE Co., Va. (WVIR) - A group of military veterans stopped in Albemarle County on Monday afternoon to march in honor of fallen veterans and first responders.
Members of the organization âCarry the Loadâ are marching to Dallas. On their journey, which started at West Point, members of area veteran organizations joined them.
The goal is to honor the âtrue meaningâ of Memorial Day and to remember their lost brothers and sisters by pinning their names onto their backs.

ALBEMARLE Co., Va. (WVIR) - State Sen. Amanda Chase visited Albemarle County for a meet-and-greet as she makes her pitch for why she should be the Republican nominee for governor.
Chase stopped at Shadwellâs to make her case. She discussed her views on the 2nd Amendment, why she doesnât wear a mask, and what separates her from the other candidates.

ALBEMARLE Co., Va. (WVIR) - Albemarle County is getting ready to submit more broadband projects to the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative (VATI).
The 2022 projects are due in September, but the countyâs broadband authority wants to hear from the public about future proposals.
Proposals are due in late July, and the county is hoping to have specifics for its broadband requests.
âMy goal is to work with CVEC Firefly and other potential ISPâs and make sure that on July 27th we have more than just here are our areas,â said the county Director of IT Mike Culp. âI would like to be like to even target it down to the address level.â
