Areas likely to be affected include the Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts and parts of the Lower West, South West, South Coastal and South East Coastal forecast districts.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a fire danger warning for the Ravensthorpe Shire Inland and Esperance Shire Inland regions.
The wild wind could also have a positive effect today, easing the smoke haze that has been hanging over Perth due to hazard reduction burns along the WA coast.
A cold front passing should bring some relief from the smoke in Perth tomorrow afternoon as winds shift northwesterly.
Meanwhile, a trough is bringing rain over south-western parts of the state with falls between five to 40 millimetres expected.
A weak trough is causing occasional showers in Tasmania with a high chance of rain in Hobart today.
