In October 2017, authorities say a reserve deputy with the Doña Ana County Sheriff s Department shot and killed the 37-year-old woman in Fairacres. As ABC-7 reported, she was accused of rushing him with an axe. That deputy was cleared of Bubrig s death, but her family still sued and settled for $850,000, according to documents obtained by ABC-7. ....
View Comments LAS CRUCES - Doña Ana County will bury the remains of 32 people whose bodies were not claimed in a service next week. One of those 32 is Heather Bubrig, of New Orleans, who was killed Oct. 31, 2017, after a reserve deputy with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department shot her. According to authorities, several law enforcement officers arrived on La Pradera Road after multiple emergency calls. One of the callers said a woman fitting Bubrig s description was in the shed behind their home, authorities said.
