County nurses hit the streets, work at pop-up clinic to vaccinate homeless from COVID-19

SAN DIEGO  Anthony Romero said he already has contracted COVID-19 and believes he may be immune, but he wasn’t about to pass up a vaccination for the disease. “Better safe than sorry,” he said about why he decided to get a coronavirus vaccine shot at a pop-up health clinic in Balboa Park on Thursday morning. Romero said he has been homeless since he and his husband had to move out of their Hillcrest apartment after a dispute with their landlord about two years ago. The couple since has broken up, and he’s been living in the park these past several months.

Former Trump aide Stephen Miller launches conservative answer to the ACLU

In his time at the White House, Miller said he witnessed how legal action can impede an administration, a tactic he called “extraordinarily effective.” Miller recounted that the administration “wouldn’t get just one lawsuit in one court, we’d get six lawsuits in six courts,” adding that there was no “counterpoint to that” on the Right. The executive director of the ACLU, Anthony Romero, was dismissive of the project, saying Miller would have a “tough road to travel.” The group filed 413 lawsuits against the former president in his four years in office, litigating key policy initiatives from the White House, including adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census and Trump’s immigration policy.
