Tremendously gratifying : Hays County small businesses aided with $600K in grant funding

Tuesday, February 23, 2021 The Wimberley Players has been providing live theater to Central Texans for 40 years. But 2020 disrupted its entire production season.  The COVID-19 pandemic forced the Wimberley Players to adapt, moving to streaming its productions. But like many in the arts, it suffered too.  “We are a live theater company so our whole business basically thrives on putting a lot of people in one room, which is not pandemic friendly,” Wimberley Players Executive Manager Simone Corprew said. “It s been a huge, huge hit for us. Obviously, theater is kind of an industry that has really suffered. And, unfortunately, the arts are exactly what we need right now at a time when so many people are suffering.”

County commissioners to consider extending COVID-19 disaster declaration

Monday, February 22, 2021 The Hays County Commissioners Court will discuss a continuation of the local disaster declaration originally proclaimed by Judge Ruben Becerra on March 15, 2020 and has most recently been continued on Dec. 8. The commissioners will also discuss an amended agreement for COVID-19 vaccine administration between Hays County and Curative Medical Associates, Inc, for the administration of COVID-19 vaccines.  This agreement will allow for a flexible approach to the administration of the vaccines as Hays County receives them.  The Hays County Elections Office may be approved to purchase 50 ADA compliant curbside ballot buttons from Inclusion Solutions to notify election judges of curbside voters presence. The cost of $27K would come from grant funding.

Jason Giuilietti Wed, 01/20/2021 - 7:02pm Business Wednesday, January 20, 2021 Vision 2025, as I introduced in my last column, is an ambitious and community-based economic development strategy designed to increase prosperity in Hays and Caldwell Counties.  In order for an economic development strategy to be realized and truly reflect the aspirations of the region, community participation, feedback and input are required. This is where the Vision 2025 Steering Committee played a critical role in developing this strategy.

Vision 2025 sets our region s lofty goals of sustainable economic development

Wednesday, January 6, 2021 To anticipate and guide what should be a record-setting time of economic growth, I am pleased to report that the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) is implementing a collaborative economic development strategy: Vision 2025. Set as a five-year Economic Development Strategy, Vision 2025 is a consensus-based blueprint to guide our community’s actions toward economic growth and the mission of GSMP in the years to come. With the strategy, community stakeholders will make the region at large a more prosperous, successful, and vibrant place to live, work, and do business. The mission of GSMP is still unchanged: we continue to facilitate the creation of new and good-paying jobs for our two-county region through attracting relocating and expanding businesses.

As the new year arrives, a reason for optimism in economic development

Thursday, December 24, 2020 Well wishes to you all during this holiday season. The new year is nearly upon us and, like many of you, I am looking forward to starting 2021 which stands to be a record-breaking year for economic development and activity in Texas. Earlier this month, the Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) hosted a briefing by Gov. Greg Abbott, and I was pleased to hear his optimism for our state’s projected economic growth. Considering the success GSMP had in our last fiscal year with seven announcements generating more than 550 new jobs, I share his optimism going into the new year.
