She told police she just wanted to end her mothers suffering. Prosecutors disagree. Dave schratwieser broke the story tonight and joins us live from north philadelphia. Dave. 74yearold mary was in the nursing home hyped me with dementia and osteoporosis. She had several times broken bones. Her daughter is charged with attempted murder for injecting her with insulin even though she wasnt a diabetic. Her lawyer says, this isnt about crime. Its about compassion. Its every grown child worst nightmare. Watching an elderly parent suffering from an illness in a hospital or nursing home. Abington police say when 50yearold donna couldnt bear to watch her mother mary suffer any more, she injected her with insulin hoping shed pass away. Its very sad tragic set of circumstances. Reporter now she stands charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and Reckless Endangerment after she injected her 74yearold mother on separate occasions with insulin in request hopes of putting her mother at peace and ending her suffering. Sometimes youre faced with the reality when that person is pleading with you, and begging you to stop the suffering, um to, stop the pain. Reporter investigators say the first injection incident happened here at the immaculate mary nursing home in philadelphia. Her mother was found unresponsive she was raced to abington hospital and revived. Three days later while still in the hospital, it happened again. Then nine days later a third episode. Causing police and hospital staff to investigate. At some point, we hope to sit down and have meaningful discussions to try and resolve this in the best way possible. Reporter hospital administrators told police no hospital staff injected mary and indicated someone with a medical background must have done it. Donna is a pharmacist. Several days later, she was confronted by police and admitted injecting her mom three separate times. Its sad for everybody all the way around. Obviously, my client loves her mother. Reporter now doctors told police her dementia and osteoporosis was not live threatening. Donna was released on bail. She faces a preliminary hearing in two weeks. Her lawyer would not comment on her statements to police. Lucy. All right, thank you, dave. Heres a story just coming into fox 29. Philadelphia police are investigating a shooting in west oak lane. You can see a Huge Police Presence this evening near line kill in pike and middleton street. We dont know if that car is involved in the shooting but its clearly banged up after crashing into tree. Well stay on top of it of course and bring you more as it comes in. Happening now, we get a flasher on the loose. Police in delaware say they are on the hunt foreman who continues to expose himself to women. Its happening in middletowns commercial district. Its the talk of the town. They hope this guy is caught before he does something even worse to up suspecting women. Surveillance pictures capture man Middleton Police say has been flashing women in the downtown area. The pictures arent great. But they show the one man wearing a backpack, long sleeved shirt and shorts. A woman who didnt want to be identified says she just found out today that its been happening for several months in her neighborhood. Kind of surprised. Reporter the woman got an automated call from the township today warning residents of the lewd acts. Middletown Police Department needs your help to identify a suspect who has been reported to have targeted women in the downtown middletown area by indecently exposing himself to them on at least three separate occasions. Reporter police say there have been a total of four incidents. Three in the downtown commercial district near the area of broad and main street. Nicole works in hair salon there and says its all her clients have been talking about. I think its just a weird guy lurking around being creepy unfortunately thats the type of people that live in this world now. But i think i think its something to be taken seriously if theres children in the area thats gross. Reporter most recent flashing reportedly happened sunday night. I can even fathom in middletown, you know, that this is happening. Somebody Walking Around flashing people just out in the open. Reporter carla adams says police came to her house last week asking if she had security cameras outside her home. They warned her a man had been exposing himself to women. I having gone the foggiest idea what causes somebody to do that sort of thing. I dont know but its definitely concerning. Reporter theres only a vague description of the suspe suspect. Earlier today, hundreds packed the cathedral basilica of saints peter and paul to honor a man who they say touched so many lives. Dawn timmeney has more on the tributes to this brave father. His widow kristin leaving the church carrying their seven week old baby girl rose. They just have newborn. Her stitches from the csection havent even healed up yet and shes left with to raise two little ones all by herself. Anna worked forgery known to his friends. She still cant believe hes gone. He was the most wonderful man you can possibly imagine. Grandzol was killed last thursday police say by 16yearold Marvin Roberts as the teen and his 21yearold brother tried to carjack grandzol in front of his home on melon street. His little daughter violet in the back seat witnessing the horror. He already gave them his wallet and he asked that he can remove his daughter, two and a halfyearold daughter from the car. He was protecting them for the very last second. Who can do Something Like that . Grandzol was well liked and well respected by everyone. As was evidence by the standing room only crowd at his funeral. He was a community activist, and a go to guy. The father of two grew up in doylestown. David and jane have known him his whole life. Philadelphia has lost one of its finest sons. Certainly doylestown has. And you know its heartbreaking. Just happy go lucky. Just loved life and thats the saddest thing. He just loved life and everybody loved him. Reporter dodays martin and jerry were best friends growing up together. Their families still live just a block away. Jerry was the greatest guy in the world. I mean he would do anything for anybody. Always up for an adventure. Such a loving father. Reporter lots of hugs and plenty of tears shed today for a man his friends say was a one of a kind guy who ex sueded positive energy. He was an mazing person. And ill love him forever. Police say the student who died confronted the shooter who was also a student at the school in rockford just south of spokane. A school staff member was able to stop the shooter before he fired any more bullets. Police arrested him. The students who were hurt are expected to be okay. Developing right now, a tragic story in the wake of ir irma. Eight people Senior Citizens dead at a nursing hole. The problem no power so no airconditioning and that intense florida heat. Governor rick scott is now demanding every other nursing home in the state be checked to make sure patients are being cared for properly. Family members are saddened, shocked and angered. Its just somebody coming and taking the door bells report roar the ring doorbells with built in surveillance cameras getting swiped from houses in two neighborhoods according to philadelphia police. Reporter he took his doorbell down to charge it only to realize his neighbors had their taken. Police say this man is the culprit hitting newer homes in Northern Liberties and fishtown. Reporter cops say there have been at least eight doorbell thefts with most happening september 12th but the crime spree dates back to august. Half of them happened on the 100 block of west master street. The suspect usually striking between 1 00 a. M. And 3 00 a. M. Everyone is pretty much got taken. So ring had give you a new one but nuisance report roar police say the suspect is a white man wearing a scarf over his face with a tattoo on his right forearm that may say safe place for me. New information just released by the ntsb. The crash happened friday in medford, new jersey right before the Montgomery Gentry concert. The report states the pilot called an engine problems minutes after take off and shortly after that the Helicopter Crashed. Killing both jenn free and the pilot.
