Worcester Red Sox notebook: A look at the first few days of action at Polar Park | Katie Morrison Updated 9:37 AM; Facebook Share WORCESTER — Years of planning and hard work finally came to realization as professional baseball players took the field at Polar Park for the first time on April 1. The first five days of alternate site action in Worcester featured a wet workout, an ace appearance and a historic home run, among plenty of other storylines. The tarp was on the field to begin the day on April 1, but although the Boston Red Sox were forced to postpone their Opening Day due to the weather, the WooSox were able to get in a workout, eventually getting onto the infield dirt for practice. Red Sox Director of Player Development and Worcester native Brian Abraham was on hand for day one of the alternate site and got a chance to see the reality of professional baseball in his hometown.
