Theres a crash at lower gwen ed at welsh and evans root. Watching the bridges, the burlington bristol bridge is closed now with a construction project until 5 00. About another half hour for that. Typically what they do is do alternating lanes of construction in both directions. Now all lanes are closed in both directions. With another half hour of that, you may need an alternate. The tacony palmyras not the best because its a little further away. Might take more of your time to get by. Again, its open. So its definitely still an alternate. Of course, the bencand walt ar open. The trentonmorrisville bridge is not far either. You can head that direction to get by. 4 32. In south jersey, police are looking for the killer who beat a young woman to nieath. Thats her picture. The neighbors want answers. And now here in south jersey in Gloucester County, police are trying to catch a killer. They all want justice for 26yearold shawnique carter, a mother from camden house sitting over the weekend on hopkins in woodbury, and someone beat her to death. Her cows since a pastor cousin is a pastor and has the task of leading her funeral service, not knowing what killed her or why. Whoever you are, i forgive you. Our family forgives you. Departure is the first since the airline stopped service when Hurricane Maria hit the island last week. Puerto ricos governor is pleading for more help and warning that the lack of necessaryits could create the humanitarian crisis. Nearly a week since Hurricane Maria hit and nearly 60 of the island is without water. Electricity is still out, and food and fuel are in short supply. People at san juans airport are desperate to leave. Fema is sending thousands of additional troops and a Navy Hospital ship heading to help out hospitals currently running on backup generators. This is Tropical Storm maria, downgraded overnight into a Tropical Storm. Packing a punch for that or banks of south carolina, you see the scattered showers rolling in there. We may see scattered showers, as well. Well notice a few coastal impacts thanks to maria. Many of us will feel the clouds, as well, at least scattered overhead through today thanks to the deck of clouds. Its way spread out north to the center. Rip current risk is high again. It has been since sunday, and i suspect it will be through tomorrow at least which means stay out of the water. Delaware beaches, jersey shore. I know the water might look fine and maybe the temperatures are warm enough you want to get in, but sometimes its hard to say a rip current developing. These are lifethreatening conditions. When a rip current pulls out, sometimes it will be difficult to get out and sucks you out to sea. Thats the problem with rip currents. Its why we warn you each day the risk is high. Other impacts, 6 to 10foot waves. Those waves increasing in height as you get into the atlantic. Wind speeds, 15 to 25 Miles Per Hour, gusts to 30 Miles Per Hour. So windy along the shore, as well. Like i mentioned, a high rip current risk. Low clouds and fog especially this morning. Patchy fog already in place near atlantic city, and like i mentioned, a few showers possible. Well look at that. It is late september, but Health Officials in delaware warn the mosquitoes are still a danger. In fact they found west nile virus in nearly two dozen caged chickens across the state. Officials say that proves mosquitoes are still around and biting, especially during unseasonably warm weather like were having. He says thats a good thing since his officers are now targeting known criminal hot spots. To the lehigh valley, Allentown City Council is launching a new effort to oust the mayor. They will meet to address what they call his obstruction of council. Council members say the mayor is preventing council from providing Vital Services to residents. Palowski was indicted last month for allegedly directing a paytoplay scheme in which city contracts were traded for donations. Now a unique agreement in delaware. The city of wilmington will sign an agreement with two universities in a partnership meant to benefit students, residents, and businesses. Delaware State University and the university of delaware will work with the city on philadelphia police, internships, and research projects. They will provide experts to work with the city on specific projects. In hazleton in northeastern pennsylvania, a playground is off limits after someone spotted rattlesnakes there. The city is using a trapper to catch what experts think are timber rattlesnakes. Theyre common to the region. Theyre venomous, poisonous, but usually try and stay away from people, usually. At least it will feel like fall through the region. A wide picture. I kept it wide to show off that while we right now have some low clouds, thick clouds and rain is well to the south. Almost 300 miles to the Storms Center of what is left, now Tropical Storm maria. Maria is not going to impact us very much at all. We will see minor impacts along the coastline as we have been seeing. Clouds, high rip current risk, and spotty showers in the forecast today. Look at the path. Theyre in good agreement. These computer models say maria will hook right today through thursday, starting to move away from us. Still close enough today and thursday that the rip current risk will likely stay high. Then we go into friday and shoot maria right out of here which will start to improve conditions. In fact, at this point, not one but two cold fronts will have started to roll through. And that is going to bring serious change. Heres the weather setup. Now, still warm and humid conditions. Heres our friend the cold front, cool, crisp air behind it. This is going to move in by tomorrow, a second cold front will move in by friday. And thats going to drop those temperatures down. By the weekend, it will feel like fall. Today, 89 in philadelphia. A mix of sun and clouds, similar to yesterday. We could see an isolated shower this afternoon. We go to 78 thursday and then cool down to 73 friday. In the suburbs, down to 72 by friday even though today a high of 87 degrees. These are big differences. In the lehigh valley, 88 down to 72 friday. And mostly sunny conditions by friday. New jersey, an isolated chance of a shower. A better chance of scattered showers the shore and delaware today. Delaware still at 86.
