in the 90s. saturday and sunday reached into the low 90s. it will be hotter today. warmer in philadelphia, 75 degrees. upper 60s in pottstown, millville, trenton is 74 at this hour. and bright sunshine is on the way. 6:00 numbers, 73 degrees. by 9:00, though, close to 80 degrees and then closer to 90 degrees just three hours later at lunch time with southwesterly winds developing, helping to bring in humid air. a bit stickier than it was yesterday. and it will be even stickier tomorrow. we'll go through the forecast, neighborhood by neighborhood when i am back in ten minutes. right now let's get a look at your monday morning çcommute. katy zachry has your first alert traffic. >> the roads are looking good this morning, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. i am following an accident in montgomery county. a look at construction on 76 westbound. this is right at belmont avenue. you'll find the same construction on the eastbound side. it's really affecting things between city avenue and belmont avenue. be aware of that. you'll have to tap the brakes a little bit as you're headed there. the pennsylvania turnpike, looking good right now. your drive times between route 1 and the valley forge exit, 22 minutes in both directions. you can't beat that. also, your area bridges are all clear right now. we'll take a look at that accident in montgomery county and a look at new jersey roads when i come back. more information on a triple shooting in olney. a gunman got out of a gray dodge charger, opened fire in the street, hitting two men and a woman. they're all expected to live. they're at the hospital. police say it's not clear if any of them was the intended target. at this point they have no suspects. a car thief may have unknowingly abducted two men with special needs. police say the driver of a munny van carrying two disabled men left that vehicle in his driveway while he ran inside to get something and witnesses say a man jumped into the van and took off. he dropped off the two men about a block away and the van is still missing. this child is still missing, myasia suffers from bipolar disorder. if you think you may have seen her, call police immediately. police tell us alcohol may have played a role in this boat crash in monmouth county. look at these pictures of a rescue from spring lake. emergency crews rescued two men and a wrom who were on a fishing boat that hit a jedi. police arrested the operator of the boat who is facing charges now. the pilot of a hot air balloon that crashed in lancaster county over the weekend injuring two passengers is from honey brook, chester county. the balloon landed in a field in earl township. investigators say as it was deflating the balloon fell over on electrical wires. one passenger is in critical condition. the faa is in investigating. 4:04 now. eagles fans wake up with morning with a smile on their faces and a lot to talk about at the office after a strong showing from the birds in their first preseason game yesterday. here's a live look at a darkened linc in south philadelphia. yesterday, the house was rocking in the afternoon sun. the eagles took the field without some of their key starters, held back for various reasons. that really didn't stop them from beating the indianapolis colts. first quarter, mark sanchez throws it out to nelsoning agal. he makes another guy miss here and down the sideline, 92 yards for the special teams touchdown. eagles led 23-3 at the half and the birds were feeling good. then in the fourth, to the delight of in in the stands, tim tebow runs in for the seven-yard score. the eagles got the win and a tebow touchdown. tim talked about getting a huge ovation after he enteredç the game. support it always feels good. i appreciated it. i'm trying to communicate with the offensive line, for a lot of us, it's the first time we're really playing live snaps together, too. you know, we have to communicate. i appreciated it, though. so once again they are taking matters into their own hands. nbc 10's matt delucia is live outside cedar grove christian academy in philadelphia's lawn dale neighborhood. what's happening? >> any teacher will tell you that funding a classroom and supplying that classroom takes a lot of money. some teachers spend $500 or even more for crayons, pencils, you maim it. teachers have been turning to parents, alumni, really anyone who will help out. jane quigley at cedar grove christian academy is doing something a little different. she's soliciting dough nations through the internet. she wants ipads for her second grade class but can't afford them on her own. she got the idea to start a crowdfunding page. >> what do i have to lose? my son helped me get it set up and within 24 hours we had a $50 donation from a grandparent. i'll have her granddaughter this year. >> reporter: coming up at 4:30, we'll look at how popular crowd funding has become for teachers and how teachers in our area are doing all of this with a few weeks left until the start of the new school year. live in lawndale, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. happening today, philadelphia will remember eight firefighters who died in an oil refinery fire 40 years ago today. 1975. a storage tank at the gulf oil refinery in south philadelphia exploded while being filled with oil from a tanker. 600 firefighters put that fire out. mayor michael nutter will deliver remarks at a ceremony at the fireman's museum later this morning. now your first alert weather with meteorologist bill henley. >> 4:08, 74 degrees. humidity is on the southwest. that will bring in a bit more moisture than we saw yesterday. humidity will ramp up tomorrow. you'll feel a bit more humid conditions today. as far as showers, thunderstorms, out of the picture. it will be a dry one today. the wet weather as well to our south and for much of the week we will be dry. 94 degrees this afternoon for allentown and reading. upper 80s for the pocono mountains. for philadelphia, northeast philadelphia, doylestown, trenton, mt. holly, çbright, sunny skies and sunshine at the shore as well. vineland and dover into the low 90s. plenty of sunshine for philadelphia, 94 degrees this afternoon. westchester and wilmington in the lower 90s. take a look at that shower threat. the possibility of thunderstorms, too, when i'm back in ten minutes. >> bill, frederick township. let's take a look at i-95 as you're headed southbound toward girard avenue. things are looking really clear. this is around indiana street. really no accidents on any of our majors in pennsylvania, new jersey or delaware, just overnight construction for you to be aware of on the turnpikes you in the last ten minutes. i'm missing a traffic icon but there is an accident into our system, lower frederick right at gerloff road. moving into new jersey, drive times between route 55 and the walt whitman bridge, five minutes in both directions. chris? the race is on to reach the site of a plain crash overseas. we'll tell you what a search plane discovered that could lead crews to the wreckage of a passenger jet in indonesia. and a tragedy for morgan freeman. the crime that took the life of one of his family members. developing right now, recovery crews are trying to get to the site of a passenger plane crash in indonesia. a twin turboprop plane crashed yesterday. overnight, a search plane spotted wreckage. 54 people were on board the plane. the area is known for its low clouds and fog. investigators will continue looking into what caused a deadly plane crash in long island yesterday. this morning, the pilot is dead, his passenger injured. officials say the plane crashed at a railway crossing yesterday morning. they say the pilot reported having trouble making altitude just after taking off from an airport about 30 miles from the crash site. a u.s. army parachutist injured in the chicago air and water show has died. corey hood and another parachutist collided while performing a stunt over the weekend. cell phone video captured one of them hitting a building and falling to the street below. the other parachutist landed on we now know what may have caused a load of air travel delays along the east coast on saturday. the faa said a software upgrade may have triggered technical problems at an air traffic control center in virginia. hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled, including some at philadelphia international. police officers now say that the killer was yelling bible verses as he stabbed e'dena hines. she was stabbed a total of 16 times. police say they have taken a man into custody and he was in a relationship with that victim. police at this point have not filed charges. hines was trying to become an actress and had just landed a role in an independent film. morgan freeman made a statement saying, quote, the world will never know her artistry and talent and how much she had to offer. civil rights advocates are mourning the death of julian bond. he had ties to the philadelphia area. he graduated from the george school in bucks county in 1957. his father was the first african-american president of lincoln university in chester county. bond was a key figure in the civil rights movement in the 1960s. he went on to serve ten years as chairman of the naacp. he was 75 years old. preparing for the pope. today, the catholic diocese of camden will launch its 40 days of francis campaign. the diocese wants people in south jersey to take up the pontiff's challenge. we want to take a closer look at exactly what the pope will see during his visit to philadelphia. of course, the first stop is the airport where he lands. nbc 10's vai sikahema gives us a tour. >> reporter: the american airlines boeing 777 that cars are the pope from new york will land here at atlantic aviation near philadelphia international and leave from here as well. john butterworth has been the general manager here for almost 30 years and this is the same terminal that services all of philadelphia's major sports teams. >> we handle the eagles, sixers, phillies, flyers. >> on any given day we'll get between 30 and 40 arrivals. this will be 100-fold what we're adjust omed to. that entire week is going to be a free for all. >> reporter: the last thing the pontiff will do is meet with about 500 volunteers and vips in this hangar at atlantic aviation this hangar can store up to six or seven leer jets at a time. the road in or out of the small airport will be closed most of the weekend that the pope is in town. in south 4:17 now. what a weekend it was. more than 17,000 pets across the nation now have new homes. 17,000. all thanks to nbc's clear the shelters campaign. people adopted just more than 1,000 animals in this area. in pennsylvania, 560 dogs and cats. new jersey, 411 and in delaware, 43 adoptions. >> one, two, three. >> maybe some of those adopted pets can enjoy this, a new dog park in clayton township, public. nbc 10 was there for the ribbon cutting yesterday. a girl scout actually came up with this idea for this park three years ago. the dog park is located at little eaves park, the first around the area today, into the 90s again. clear view looking across the delaware. no sign of clouds, no fog. but it is warm. look at that, 75 degrees. humidity, 76%. we have a light breeze out of the southwest. that's going to help push more humidity into our area today than you felt yesterday. we will see lots of sunshine later in the week. a good chance of showers and thunderstorms but dry today. 67 now at chester springs, washington township is in the upper 60s. 71 in wilmington. it's 70, a warm start for allentown and reading at 73 degrees. blue bell is 68. 69 in dover and just a little bit warmer in middletown, newark. look at atlantic city, mt. holly, beach haven all in the 70s to start with this morning. there's the wind. a little bit of a southwesterly breeze, just enough to bump up the humidity compared to yesterday. we see light winds. they should stay below 10 miles an hour during the day today. bright sunshine, a quick warmup into the 90s this afternoon. a little bit hotter than yesterday. a few thin clouds at times. no rain showers, until we get to the end of the week. we'll be watching a system to the west. this first line of showers will fall apart over the next 24 hours. it's the next line that will bring us showers, possibly heavy downpours later in the week. possibility of isolated showers in central pennsylvania tomorrow afternoon. looks like philadelphia will likely stay dry. then into wednesday, a chance of spotty showers and we'll be watching the showers coming from the west for thursday and friday. for today, though, watch for some shady spots if you can find them. temperatures will be climbing into the 90s this afternoon. definitely a hot one today. with southwesterly winds blowing up to 10 miles an hour, a bit more humid as things to keep us on our toes. a live lack at 76 right at out 1. this is the eastbound side heading into center city philadelphia. eastbound, your drive times between 476 and the vine street expressway, 13 minutes. westbound you're seeing the same thing, no accidents or really issues to report. i found out construction that was on 76 east and westbound around belmont avenue has cleared. that's good for drivers this morning. taking a look at your drive times as we go to the delaware/pennsylvania state naamans road to 476, seven there. in montgomery county. this is in lower frederick township at yorger road at gerloff road. it was one of the iconic images of destruction after superstorm sandy hit the jersey shore. now this amusement pier that was left in the surf is getting a second chance. we'll tell you what's in the works that could allow the owners to rebuild. a new tool for a local police department. what we will learn today about their new state-of-the-art body finally rebuild. three years later, state environmental officials approved a permit. the owners plan to rebuild their sky ride cable car attraction. that same in seaside heights is where a roller coaster plunged into the ocean when sandy hit in 2012. thousands packed the beach in atlantic city last night to watch maroon 5 and nick jonas. it's the first of two concerts on the beach this week in ac. the biggest problem is staying cool during the intense heed we have. water was in high demand in a.c. a few people had to be cared for by emergency workers but most people stayed cool and hydrated. organizers say managing the huge crowds takes a lot of coordination. >> they drink water, make sure we have water stations, hydration stations. >> the second concert, rascal flatts with ashley monroe is taking place thursday. hopefully it will be a little cooler. gates open at noon. show time set for 4:00 p.m. a bucks county police department is hosting a demonstration for its new
