90. we'll talk about some storms in your seven-day coming up. people who need to buy a special pass for the pope's visit are getting ready to do just that. the sale starts at 12:01 a.m. jesse gary is live at 30th street station, one of three stations in center city where the inbound train will stop. you are breaking down some potential problems for commuters and how to avoid it. >> reporter: the only other city stations that will be open is the one at university city at the penn campus and jefferson station stop which used to be called market east. that's great, but on the mass for the 27th that the pope is holding, that's over by the art museum. how do you get from one of those stations all the way over to the art museum? that will add or complicate your ability to get. there that's something you have to be aware of. during the papal visit, weekend of september 26th and 27th, regional rail service will be restricted to just 18 stations outside of the city. trains will express into two center city stations in the morning, three total around the city. then express back out in the evening. to purchase a $10 daily pass you must enter the lottery. the lottery opens at 12:01 a.m. monday, and closes at 11:59 p.m. on monday. just after midnight tonight going into monday. all day. then right before midnight ends. that 24-hour period. only 300,000 passes will be sold. each entry received within the 24-hour period has an equal chance of winning. septa tried to do this before sell these passes papal passes. their system was swamped with demand now they will try the lottery system. hopefully that will work. officials are hoping for a much more smoother transition and sale. so 12:01 avm, that's when you can log on. you don't have to sit there ready at 12:01, you have the 24-hour window. any time during the 24 hours, you have an equal chance of getting the papal pass. probably the easiest way to get into the city to see the pontiff. jesse gary nbc 10 news. new this morning, verizon employees say they will stay on the job despite not having a contract. the decision comes after a contract covering nearly 40,000 workers expired before midnight. that contract affects employees from massachusetts to virginia including pennsylvania new jersey and delaware. one of the yune yons representing workers says despite being a profitable company, verizon continues to eliminate job security and drive down their workers standard of living. that union says we are not going to take it. we're going to keep the fight going while we're on the job. verizon says that the company is disappointed that the groups did not come to an agreement, and that the union proposals are "unrealistic and out of touch in today's marketplace. this weekend family and friends are remembering the three young victims who were passengers in a crash that philadelphia police are calling a case of street racing. the community came together for a vigil last night at the scene of the crash near red lion road and bustle tone. there they remembered 17-year-old yvette gonzalez and 20-year-old felip hernandez. the family members sabrina rhoads tell us the circumstances are heartbreaking. >> she had everything going for her. she was going in the right direction. >> investigators have some new information on the second car that took off from the scene. they believe it's a dark blue or black bmw. police are trying to track down the driver and passengers inside that car. the community also gathered yesterday in philadelphia to honor the life of a man who was killed during a hit and run crash last weekend. francis arroyo was in a car with his brother when an suv crashed into them and did not stop. arroyo leaves behind a pregnant fiance and two sons. police found the suv and know who it belongs to but are still investigating who was behind the wheel. parentses in the city of chester are outraged after a 10-year-old was shot at a city swimming pool. a 17-year-old was running after three young boys yesterday afternoon, chasing them, and opening fire near the memorial park and pool. the 10-year-old was grazed in the stomach and is now in stable condition. park employees helped catch the teen shooter. authorities have now charged him as an adult. today in philadelphia, you can step back in time at the national constitution center where they're hosting colonial field days. the outdoor event continues through tuesday. you can try your hand at colonial games, dress up in 18th century fashions and enlist in the continental army. eagles fans will welcome another football season. training camp begins this morning. some big names have moved on. others have moved in one unanswered question is what do at quarterback. sam bradford and bobby brown's sister stormed out of the church. she was angry that whitney houston's sister-in-law spoke at the service. bobbi christina died in hospice care on july 26th, six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub. this morning in tennessee a police officer is dead after a gunman opened fire during a traffic stop. this happened in memphis last night. police identified the slain officer as 33-year-old sean bolton. right now a manhunt is underway for the shooter. let's head to baltimore, where a commission formed by leaders to review homicides in the city has stalled. officials claim baltimore's top prosecutor is not sharing information needed for the program to work. last year the city spent $200,000 on the commission which was meant to bring together police politicians and public health workers to identify violent trends and how to work on them and respond to them. just last months baltimore recorded its highest monthly murder rate in more than four decades. this morning, there's a new push to revitalize camden. today u.s. senator bob menendez will tour the ephraim neighborhood. men leaders say a grant is being threatened by proposed budget cuts. when kaiser carlyle ran on to the field to retrieve a bat. witnesses say he got too close to a player who was warming up. that player didn't notice the boy and accidentally hit him during a practice swing. >> hit him in the helmet. knocked him down. he got back up. but he went right back down again. everybody came out and helped him. >> an ambulance rushed kaiser to the hospital. he is now being treated in the intensive care unit. overseas demonstrators protested outside of parliament in london over a proposed ban on the public sale of nitrous oxide or laughing gats inging fas inging gas. demonstrators say nitrous is less dangerous than alcohol. new york city health officials expect there to be more cases of legionnaires disease over the coming days. they believe people may have been infected before the city cleaned cooling towers where the bacteria that causes the disease was found. the disease killed people and sickened 65 so far this summer. four people are suffering from serious injuries after the twin engine plane they were riding on crashed in kentucky last night. the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing at a regional airport but ended up crashing into a remote area not far away. investigators working the scene overnight say it's still unclear exactly how badly damaged the plane is. >> it is so dark out there. it's really hard to tell a lot about the scene. that's why the faa will be coming in the morning. >> today faa officials will conduct their investigation into how and why the pilot was forced to make the emergency landing. back in our area new clues about what may have led to the plane that crashed last year that killed philadelphia inquirer coconer er co-owner lewis katz. according to the owner, the plane had a flaw at high speeds but gulf stream airspace corporation blames the may 2014 crash on the crew's actions. six other people in addition lewis katz were killed. the faa is working with gulf stream on design changes for the 500 speaking to passengers there this morning about the pope's visit. what are they telling you? >> reporter: rosemary a lot of people are saying they are bracing for a crush of people in the city and surrounding area. some say this will avoid center city at all costs,s say they anticipate wading into the sea of humanity. if you think you want to come into center city to seate the pontiff on september 26th and 27th and are taking regional rail it will be restricted to 18 stations outside the city. train also express into 30th street jefferson station and expression back in the evening. we caught up with ron jones moments ago. he uses the west trenton line to get into the city. he is giving the current plan a thumbs up. >> not a bad idea. trying to get people to come in and see the pope. it's a good plan. >> only 18 stations will be open. >> that means it's safe. trying to be safe, too. a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world. >> a few weeks ago, septa tried to sell papal tickets online but the system was swamped. to now they will try this lottery system, starting at 12:01 monday to 11:59 p.m. monday. you don't have to rush to get online at 12:01. anyone who enters yvette gonzalez, 17-year-old, sabrina rhoads, and 20-year-old felip hernandez. according to police the three victims were passengers in a car in which the driver was street racing. the victims family members became emotional as they pleaded with the public to public an end to these tragic crashes. >> this shows you how dangerous this is. this is not the first. i know it won't be the last. some of us don't learn. we need to learn. >> police now have surveillance video that shows two cars racing near red lion road in bustleton right before the accident earlier this week. they also have new information on the second car which took off from the scene. investigators say it appears to be a dark blue or black bmw. police are now trying to track down the driver and any passengers inside that car. this morning a 10-year-old boy remains in the hospital but is stable after he was shot at a community swimming pool in chester, delaware county. witnesses say a 17-year-old was chasing after three young boys yesterday afternoon and opened fire on them near the memorial park and pool. the 10-year-old was hit. several city workers helped police catch the teen gunman overnight. he has been charged as an adult in the shooting. outraged by the shooting, chester's mayor demands change. he says the city already confiscated 85 illegal guns this year, but the crimes continue. >> we have to stop this. you can't shoot up our city, you can't shoot little kids in the park. >> i don't know where they're getting these guns from, but the kids are the -- the teens are out of control. >> in another effort to cut down on crime, the city began installing the first of more than 100 planned surveillance cameras earlier this week. the mayor hopes it will speed up investigations and get criminals off the streets. a 17-year-old boy from philadelphia who was critically injured in a hit and run crash has been upgraded to stable condition. the driver could be facing more charges. the teen was crossing westminster avenue in west philadelphia around 1:30 yesterday morning when investigators say a gold buick lesabre hit him and took off. about an hour later officers stopped a similar vehicle, a vehicle matching that description reckless driving. that's when they spotted the car's heavy windshield damage and determined this was the car involved in the hit and run. the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. he could face more charmings. a new jersey man previously served time for not telling his sexual partners he's hiv positive is back behind bars accused of the same crime. police in northampton county say ricky webster did not tell two women about his condition before engaging in sexual acts. the women contacted police after finding out about the 25-year-old's criminal history online. in 2010 webster was sentenced to four years in prison for the same offense. one of the victims, by the way, was a 15-year-old girl. today training camp gets underway for the eagles. players will hit the field for the first time at the novacare complex a busy off season but some big questions remain, quarterback who will it be? sam bradford and mark crews were called to the birdsboro quarry on friday night for a possible drowning. a man in his 20s was at the quarry with a friend when he jumped off a 100 foot tall cliff into the water. the friend went for help after the friend never surfaced. searchers found his body yesterday. to decision 2016. vice president joe biden says he is not ruling out a presidential run. political analysts say biden's friends and advisers are urging him to launch a campaign, but that decision may not happen until after this month. talks about biden's possible run for the white house were put on hold earlier social services are feeling the effects of budget deadlock. we have new information on cecil the lion in zimbabwe. officials have suspended the hunting of lions, leopards in the area where cecil was killed. crews are also investigating the killing of another lion in april that may have been illegal. they only received information about that killing this week. the announcements follow international outcry and a call to bring the american who killed cecil to justice. authorities say the hunt was illegal and are seeking the extradition of walter palmer, a dentist from minnesota. last night new york city's iconic empire building showcased digital light projections of the world's endanger the species. the display showed a looping reel of about 116 ep dangerndangered animals. the projection started about 9 clx last night and lasted about three hours. the show was raising awareness about animals at risk of being lost forever. this is one way to keep cool during a heat wave. and steelers for a fifth round draft pick. boykin was drafted in the fourth round in 2012 but was relegated to playing in the slot rather than the outside because of his height. he's only 5'10". his continue today. also monday and tuesday before we finally dip back into the 80s on wednesday. temperature now, about five to six degrees cooler compared to this time yesterday. 56 in mt. pocono. 62 in reading. 60 in pottstown. 71 in philadelphia. 63 in millville. 68 in wildwood. we will see lots of sun ship once again. hot by this afternoon. by 8:00 a.m., 74. 86 degrees at noon. and 3:00 close to 90. we'll talk about some storms in your seven-day coming up. people who need to buy a special pass for the pope's visit are getting ready to do just that. the sale starts at 12:01 a.m. jesse gary is live at 30th street station, one of three stations in center city where the inbound train will stop. you are breaking down some potential problems for commuters and how to avoid it. >> reporter: the only other city stations that will be open is the one at university city at the penn campus and jefferson station stop which used to be called market east. that's great, but on the mass for the 27th that the pope is holding, that's over by the art museum. how do you get from one of those stations all the way over to the art museum? that will add or complicate your ability to get. there that's something you have to be aware of. during the papal visit, weekend of september 26th and 27th, regional rail service will be restricted to just 18 stations outside of the city. trains will express into two center city stations in the morning, three total around the city. then express back out in the evening. to purchase a $10 daily pass you must enter the lottery. the lottery opens at 12:01 a.m. monday, and closes at 11:59 p.m. on monday. just after midnight tonight going into monday. all day. then right before midnight ends. that 24-hour period. only 300,000 passes will be sold. each entry received within the 24-hour period has an equal chance of winning. septa tried to do this before sell these passes papal passes. their system was swamped with demand now they will try the lottery system. hopefully that will work. officials are hoping for a much more smoother transition and sale. so 12:01 avm, that's when you can log on. you don't have to sit there ready at 12:01, you have the 24-hour window. any time during the 24 hours, you have an equal chance of getting the papal pass. probably the easiest way to get into the city to see the pontiff. jesse gary nbc 10 news. new this morning, verizon employees say they will stay on the job despite not having a contract. the decision comes after a contract covering nearly 40,000 workers expired before midnight. that contract affects employees from massachusetts to virginia including pennsylvania new jersey and delaware. one of the yune yons representing workers says despite being a profitable company, verizon continues to eliminate job security and drive down their workers standard of living. that union says we are not going to take it. we're going to keep the fight going while we're on the job. verizon says that the company is disappointed that the groups did not come to an agreement, and that the union proposals are "unrealistic and out of touch in today's marketplace. this weekend family and friends are remembering the three young victims who were passengers in a crash that philadelphia police are calling a case of street racing. the community came together for a vigil last night at the scene of the crash near red lion road and bustle tone. there they remembered 17-year-old yvette gonzalez and 20-year-old felip hernandez. the family members sabrina rhoads tell us the circumstances are heartbreaking. >> she had everything going for her. she was going in the right direction. >> investigators have some new information on the second car that took off from the scene. they believe it's a dark blue or black bmw. police are trying to track down the driver and passengers inside that car. the community also gathered yesterday in philadelphia to honor the life of a man who was killed during a hit and run crash last weekend. francis arroyo was in a car with his brother when an suv crashed into them and did not stop. arroyo leaves behind a pregnant fiance and two sons. police found the suv and know who it belongs to but are still investigating who was behind the wheel. parentses in the city of chester are outraged after a 10-year-old was shot at a city swimming pool. a 17-year-old was running after three young boys yesterday afternoon, chasing them, and opening fire near the memorial park and pool. the 10-year-old was grazed in the stomach and is now in stable condition. park employees helped catch the teen shooter. authorities have now charged him as an adult. today in philadelphia, you can step back in time at the national constitution center where they're hosting colonial field days. the outdoor event continues through tuesday. you can try your hand at colonial games, dress up in 18th century fashions and enlist in the continental army. eagles fans will welcome another football season. training camp begins this morning. some big names have moved on. others have moved in one unanswered question is what do at quarterback. sam bradford and bobby brown's sister stormed out of the church. she was angry that whitney houston's sister-in-law spoke at the service. bobbi christina died in hospice care on july 26th, six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub. this morning in tennessee a police officer is dead after a gunman opened fire during a traffic stop. this happened in memphis last night. police identified the slain officer as 33-year-old sean bolton. right now a manhunt is underway for the shooter. let's head to baltimore, where a commission formed by leaders to review homicides in the city has stalled. officials claim baltimore's top prosecutor is not sharing information needed for the program to work. last year the city spent $200,000 on the commission which was meant to bring together police politicians and public health workers to identify violent trends and how to work on them and respond to them. just last months baltimore recorded its highest monthly murder rate in more than four decades. this morning, there's a new push to revitalize camden. today u.s. senator bob menendez will tour the ephraim neighborhood. men leaders say a grant is being threatened by proposed budget cuts. the wilmington va medical center wants you to seatet see the changes they've made over the past year. they will showcase their progress and accomplishments and plans to movement organization forward. when kaiser carlyle ran on to the field to retrieve a bat. witnesses say he got too close to a player who was warming up. that player didn't notice the boy and accidentally hit him during a practice swing. >> hit him in the helmet. knocked him down. he got back up. but he went right back down again. everybody came out and helped him. >> an ambulance rushed kaiser to the hospital. he is now being treated in the intensive care unit. overseas demonstrators protested outside of parliament in london over a proposed ban on the public sale of nitrous oxide or laughing gats inging fas inging gas. demonstrators say nitrous is less dangerous than alcohol. new york city health officials expect there to be more cases of legionnaires disease over the coming days. they believe people may have been infected before the city cleaned cooling towers where the bacteria that causes the disease was found. the disease killed people and sickened 65 so far this summer. four people are suffering from serious injuries after the twin engine plane they were riding on crashed in kentucky last night. the pilot was trying to make an emergency landing at a regional airport but ended up crashing into a remote area not far away. investigators working the scene overnight say it's still unclear exactly how badly damaged the plane is. >> it is so dark out there. it's really hard to tell a lot about the scene. that's why the faa will be coming in the morning. >> today faa officials will conduct their investigation into how and why the pilot was forced to make the emergency landing. back in our area new clues about what may have led to the plane that crashed last year that killed philadelphia inquirer coconer er co-owner lewis katz. according to the owner, the plane had a flaw at high speeds but gulf stream airspace corporation blames the may 2014 crash on the crew's actions. six other people in addition lewis katz were killed. the faa is working with gulf stream on design changes for the 500 speaking to passengers there this morning about the pope's visit. what are they telling you? >> reporter: rosemary a lot of people are saying they are bracing for a crush of people in the city and surrounding area. some say this will avoid center city at all costs,s say they anticipate wading into the sea of humanity. if you think you want to come into center city to seate the pontiff on september 26th and 27th and are taking regional rail it will be restricted to 18 stations outside the city. train also express into 30th street jefferson station and expression back in the evening. we caught up with ron jones moments ago. he uses the west trenton line to get into the city. he is giving the current plan a thumbs up. >> not a bad idea. trying to get people to come in and see the pope. it's a good plan. >> only 18 stations will be open. >> that means it's safe. trying to be safe, too. a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world. >> a few weeks ago, septa tried to sell papal tickets online but the system was swamped. to now they will try this lottery system, starting at 12:01 monday to 11:59 p.m. monday. you don't have to rush to get online at 12:01. anyone who enters members became emotional as they pleaded with the public to public an end to these tragic crashes. >> this shows you how dangerous this is. this is not the first. i know it won't be the last. some of us don't learn. we need to learn. >> police now have surveillance video that shows two cars racing near red lion road in bustleton right before the accident earlier this week. they also have new information on the second car which took off from the scene. investigators say it appears to be a dark blue or black bmw. police are now trying to track down the driver and any passengers inside that car. this morning a 10-year-old boy remains in the hospital but is stable after he was shot at a community swimming pool in chester, delaware county. witnesses say a 17-year-old was chasing after three young boys yesterday afternoon and opened fire on them near the memorial park and pool. the 10-year-old was hit. several city workers helped police catch the teen gunman overnight. he has been charged as an adult in the shooting. outraged by the shooting, chester's mayor demands change. he says the city already confiscated 85 illegal guns this year, but the crimes continue. >> we have to teen was crossing westminster avenue in west philadelphia around 1:30 yesterday morning when investigators say a gold buick lesabre hit him and took off. about an hour later officers stopped a similar vehicle, a vehicle matching that description reckless driving. that's when they spotted the car's heavy windshield damage and determined this was the car involved in the hit and run. the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. he could face more charmings. a new jersey man previously served time for not telling his sexual partners he's hiv positive is back behind bars accused of the same crime. police in northampton county say ricky webster did not tell two women about his condition before engaging in sexual acts. the women contacted police after finding out about the 25-year-old's criminal history online. in 2010 webster was sentenced to four years in prison for the same offense. one of the victims, by the way, was a 15-year-old girl. today training camp gets crews were called to the birdsboro quarry on friday night for a possible drowning. a man in his 20s was at the quarry with a friend when he jumped off a 100 foot tall cliff into the water. the friend went for help after the friend never surfaced. searchers found his body yesterday. to decision 2016. vice president joe biden says he is not ruling out a presidential run. political analysts say biden's friends and advisers are urging him to launch a campaign, but that decision may not happen until after this month. talks about biden's possible run for the white house were put on hold earlier this year while his son, beau biden, battled cancer. he died in may. pennsylvania is in its fifth week of a budget stalemate. and now social serviceses are s areare preparing for cut. some county and non-profit agencies are deciding which services might stop or if workers must be laid off. some counties may front the money and some workers may go unpaid. this is the third time in 12 years that social services are feeling the effects of budget deadlock. we have new information on cecil the lion in zimbabwe. officials have suspended the hunting of lions, leopards in the area where cecil was killed. crews are also investigating the killing of another lion in april that may have been illegal. they only received information about that killing this week. the announcements follow international outcry and a call to bring the american who killed cecil to justice. authorities say the hunt was illegal and are seeking the extradition of walter palmer, a dentist from minnesota. last night new york city's iconic empire building showcased digital light projections of the world's endanger the species. the display showed a looping reel of about 116 ep dangerndangered animals. the projection started about 9 clx last night and lasted about three hours. the show was raising awareness about animals at risk of being lost forever. this is one way to keep cool during a heat wave. and
