Walk in Progress traffic police. Work is already over at 29; once done, Bengaluru could become a safer city for pedestrians Traffic cam videos of fatal accidents at pedestrian crossings are enough to make you want to stay indoors and not step out. And with good reason. On an average, around 300 pedestrians are killed per year in road accidents in the city. Now, in an effort to help pedestrians walk across roads without any hassles and reduce fatalities, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike ( BBMP) has embarked on constructing 224 pedestrian crossings across the city. The Bangalore Traffic Police have identified locations where the pedestrian crossings are required for the safety of those on foot.
