If youre about to head out the door, grab your umbrella. You are going to need that. We have rain across the area, we have temperatures in the upper 70s. Its a morning where we start out with a muggy morning out here and a morning where were looking at whats going to be these showers and thunderstorms. 76 right now and passing through the area, its muggy. Were looking at the line from kingston to poughkeepsie down the toms river. Western jersey is shower free now and so is manhattan. Theres a little shower coming across Staten Island heading towards brooklyn and queens. Theres showers and thunderstorms up there at newburgh, and those are heavy along 84 and 87 and back to our west, drier, cooler air for tomorrow, which will be delightful. Well talk about that coming up in just a moment. Im doing okay. Southern state parkway, different story, if thats normally what you take, well show you this activity over here. Its off on the side of the roadway. Well head to our maps and tell you what that is. There was an earlier car fire right near exit 15 which is corona avenue. That car fire is being extinguished. We have new Jersey Transit Long Island Railroad running on schedule. D train suspended between 205th and bedford park boulevard. 1 and 2 trains suspended, and as you head to the George Washington bridge inbound lower level closed with ongoing construction. Just a minor delay. Street cleaning rules are in effect. At 4 32, breaking at this early hour, a woman is dead after falling out of a car in brooklyn and the driver believed to be her husband is in police custody. It happened in bay ridge, the investigation closing down a stretch of the parkway. Kala rama is live on the scene with the details. Reporter shirleen, i can tell you that bay ridge parkway opened within the last 30 minutes, if you take a look well show you where that freak accident happened. It happened in the middle of the block taking the life of that 29yearold woman. Just hours earlier here take a look at the scene. It had bay ridge parkway shut down for hours, and you can see police cars blocking off the road while investigators mark the evidence. The driver believed to be her husband was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving. He was turning on bay ridge parkway when the vehicles rear door opened. That 29yearold woman fell out of the vehicle viking her head opened. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but did not make it. Police tell me the husband is being questioned at the 66th precinct. Charges are pending. They believe the two husband and wife were at a nearby bar just before the accident. Were live in bay Ridge Brooklyn kala rama channel 7 Eyewitness News. Its 4 34. Developing this morning, a gas explosion rocks a high school in the bronx injuring three construction workers, one critically. Rob nelson live in marble hill as investigators try to pinpoint a cause. Reporter good morning ken, the investigation into this incident will continue this morning, and there are two main questions, exactly what led to the explosion and will the building be in good enough shape to let students back in when the School Year Begins in a few days. Take a look at video that we shot last time. This shows the moments after the 8 p. M. Blast which rattled this neighborhood with which some residents thought at the time had been a bomb. What we know this morning is three construction workers inside the school at the time were seriously hurt. A 36yearold worker suffered severe burns and is still in Critical Condition. Two other workers also suffered burns. All three are at Jacobi Medical Center but their injuries are not lifethreatening. As part of an ongoing project employees for a private contractor were working on gas lines inside a science lab last night when this explosion happened shortly after 8 00. According to officials, the damage is extensive on the 4th, 5th and 6th floors. The blast was powerful enough to knock out many windows. Response including 140 night. The fire chief described the efforts to treat the workers. These victims had gotten out of the area of the explosion. Our folks found them. One was more seriously injured than the other two. They were all immediately being treated by Fire Department members and transported rather quickly. Now this complex houses eight different schools, more than 4,000 students go to school here. Now assessments that were still ongoing in terms of the Structural Integrity of the building, that will be a very important step knowing whether schools can come back to school here when the new School Year Kicks off in a few days on september 9th. Reporting live rob powers channel 7 Eyewitness News. Right now police are searching for the suspect in a violent attack on board a manhattan bound f train. Investigators say the woman in this picture lashed out after another subway rider asked her to move her bag which was taking up a seat on the train. She is accused of tacking the 45yearold attacking the 45 yearold woman, scratching, pulling her hair even biting her. Lawyers for the suspect in the horrific murder of Morgan Freemans granddaughter are due in court today. Lamar davenport is accused of stabbing his girlfriend edina hines 15 times. Police say davenport was holding a knife when they found him over the body of the 33 yearold actress. Time square crossroads in more ways than one as city leaders deal with calls for change in the popular spot. Some have suggested getting rid of the pedestrian plaza to eliminate the topless women and aggressive costumed characters. Clearly a lot of people are very uncomfortable with it, and i understand why. I agree. On a common sense level this is not appropriate in the middle of a public square. The mayors formed a task force to look into the issue. He did acknowledge panhandling topless or otherwise is legal in the city. 4 38. And then down the jersey shore this batch of rain is running from marlboro, middle town and thats going to be cutting across long island, coastal connecticut for the morning commute and then look behind us, some delightful weather is going to be coming to the area for tomorrow. Were looking at about 79, 80. Sun is out by 7 00 breaking thrush parts of the through western parts of the area. Then its kind of stuffy with 85 as the high. Cars are blocking driveways. They throw debris in the street. The airport employees really bus the fact that they can park here for free, hop on the air train, go to work and come back. City lawmakers are set to meet with airport and tsa officials next week to discuss this problem. Time is 4 40. An unusual and slithering discovery in the heart of times square. Members of the nypd confiscated a boa constrictor at the Crossroads Police wont ssssay exactly where they found it. Really . In the subway. Maybe he wanted to get to time square. The pressure unsteady, unstable at this point this morning as this fronts moving through the area. Its below 30 which is our mark of fair weather. Riverdale is 75. 77 whitestone, queens and cambria heights, temperatures of 75 around poughkeepsie. The temperatures closer because of the clouds and rain across area. Check out these winds out of the south at teterboro at 15. Pumping up the moisture as this front slides east and through the radar. Kingston, poughkeepsie big batch of rain. You get rocked around newburgh with thunder and lightning there, a couple little showers here in Lower Manhattan and over towards brooklyn and queens and then you see theres that area of thunderstorms up here. Newburgh headed towards carmel along 84, and here at 684 here too, 87, 684, thruway all that going to be wet and the possibility of some flooding on those roadways. This is the garden state parkway. This is the turnpike. Those thunderstorms have left that area. Theyre working through monmouth and ocean county sliding eastward. Look at the clear weather behind that. This will be great for tomorrow. The humiditys drop. The winds come out of the north and well have a Beautiful Day tomorrow. Starting out this morning, weve got showers and storms, and then this afternoon sun and clouds, warm and humid, 85. The humidity starts to drop off toward the evening commute and into tonight. The bodies of three fallen firefighters have been removed from the spot where they died yesterday in Washington State. Those men identified as andrew, Richard Wheeler and tom bushefsky. His parents work for the forest service. His mother was working nearby when he died. I texted him back and told him to be careful because i heard it was really active. I want more people to know what a wonderful person he was. Firefighter daniel lion is listed in Critical Condition. Hes one of four other Service Workers injured in yesterdays tragedy. That is heartbreaking. Kaitlyn jenner now facing possible misdemeanor charges for a deadly crash in february. Sources tell abc news the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department will recommend a vehicular manslaughter charge next week. Officials say jenner was driving at an unsafe speed at the time of the crash in southern california. Her escalade hit a car causing it to collide with oncoming traffic killing a driver. Police looking into internet crimes against children have searched the Los Angeles Home of rocker gene simmons. Investigators say the cofounder of the group kiss is not suspected in the case nor is anyone in his family. Reports say police are investigating crimes that may have taken place on simmons property last year while on tour. 4 49. A florida judge got an eyeful while hearing one womans testimony during a bond hearing. A woman was in court on charges of disorderly intoxification. While speaking to the judge she started to describe ways she felt she was mistreated in jail. Instead of using her words to describe the injury she thought it was necessary to be a little more graphic. Ive been beaten up, beaten up tonight by police, and also this too from somebody on the ground. Well, after giving the judge a good look at her injury she said she had a medical condition. He set her bond at 100 bucks. It is now 4 50. Coming up on Eyewitness News this morning, police in ferguson missouri are searching for clues about the killing of a 9yearold girl shot when someone shot into her while she did her homework. She is expected to be okay. A father from Westchester County<\/a> will spend at least six years behind bars for a deadly car crash with his Underaged Daughter<\/a> behind the wheel. Michael ware pleaded guilty to allowing his 15yearold daughter to drive his suv without a license. It happened last summer in the poconos. The teenager crashed the suv killing three of her friends. As a parent i think it struck a chord with everybody in the courtroom. This is such a preventable crime that could have not caused such a catastrophe. Hes being punished now. Eyewitness News Reporter<\/a> kala rama is live in bay ridge with the very latest on this. Shirleen, i can tell you that bay ridge parkway opened in the last hour. That freak accident happened down the middle of the block here shutting it down after taking the life of a 29 year woman. Let me show you what it looked like earlier. They had bay ridge parkway shut down for hours. You can see police cars blocking off the road while investigators marked evidence. Police say the driver believed to be the womans husband was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving. He was turning on bay ridge parkway when the vehicles rear door suddenly opened and the 29 yearold woman fell out of the vehicle in the backseat striking her head on the ground. She was then rushed to lookout really Medical Center<\/a> but didnt make it. Right now police tell me the husband is being questioned at the 66th precinct and charges are pending. Police also tell me they believe the two were at a bar just around the corner from where the accident occurred. Were live in bay Ridge Brooklyn<\/a>, kala rama channel 7 Eyewitness News<\/a>. Developing right now, continues to clean up the debris left behind by an explosion at jfk high school. Three construction workers were hurt, one critically. They were doing work on a 6th floor science lab at the time. Several custodial workers were working at the school and were shaken by the explosion. The alarm of the building went off, a loud thunderous bomb. Thats what it sounded like, really big, huge, like thunder within the off right in front of you. The blast left the 4th, 5th and 6th floors badly damaged weeks before stunts are set to be back for the new school year. We have breaking news at 5 04. At least two people are hurt after an explosion at a high rise tower in downtown los angeles. The blast happened underground sparking a fire and causing structural damage to the 19 story building. The explosion was so powerful it knocked out power to the Staples Center<\/a> during a concert. Firefighters say a man and women were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay. Friends of the woman attacked by a man carrying an acid like substance in queens says she is an ordained minister who spends her time helping others. Police say a man carrying a coffee cup tried to talk to dire wednesday night in sunny side, then tossed the gel like substance into her face. She was leaving her work at the nonprofit Healing Arts Initiative<\/a> when she was attacked. Shes highly significant to the nonprofits that she serves, and shes highly significant to the people. In the community she does Animal Rescue<\/a> work. She does in her work at nonprofits they have always been. Dire also dedicated her time as an ordained Roman Catholic<\/a> priest, something she felt was a calling at a young age. The new york city Health Officials<\/a> say the legionnaires disease outbreak in the bronx is over. A cooling tower at the top of a Historic Hotel<\/a> in the south bronx is blamed as the source of the legionnaires outbreak. This morning one worker remains in Critical Condition<\/a> after a gas explosion at a new York City High School<\/a>. Today crews will be back at jfk high school to clean up debris and try to figure out what happened. Eyewitness News Reporter<\/a> rob nelson is live. Reporter it was a frightening and chaotic scene out here last night. Many residents in the area felt some kind of bomb had gone off. Not a bomb but this was a very serious construction accident, one that badly injured three workers. Take a look at video from last night here in the moments after the explosion. You can tell just how much damage there was to the building here. You can see the extent of the damage, windows blown out, debris scattered on the ground. All of this began shortly after 8 00 last night at jfk high school where employees were working on gas lines in a 6th floor science lab and that work triggered the explosion which caused extensive damage to the 4th , 5th and 6th floor of this building. It injured a 36yearold worker who suffered severe burns and is in Critical Condition<\/a>, a 53 yearold worker also suffered burns. All three are at Jacobi Medical Center<\/a> at this hour. The explosion led to a massive emergency turnout last night including about 140 firefighters. Luckily there was not any kind of lingering fire after the blast. The bulk of the damage was the result of the explosion itself. Fire chief daniel nigro along with the mayor came to the scene and he described the efforts to treat those injured workers. These victims had gotten out of the area of the explosion. Our folks found them. One was more seriously injured than the other two. They were immediately being treated by Fire Department<\/a> members and transported rather quickly. Reporter now this jfk High School Complex<\/a> as you see behind me is the home to eight different schools and serves more than 4,000 students, so a big campus here and of course the big question is the Structural Integrity<\/a> of the building following the blast. That still has to be assessed mainly because the new school year is set to begin a few days from now on september 9th. thank you. At 5 36 police want your help catching a sexual predator. The man in the video is wanted for an attempted rape in brooklyn. The attack happened early monday morning. The suspect grabbed a woman near church and 14th avenues and shoved her to the ground. He then ran off when the woman fought back. Police are searching for the suspect in a violent attack on board a manhattan bound f train. The woman in this picture lashed out after another subway rider asked her to move her bag which was taking up a seat on the train. Shes accused of attacking the 45yearold woman, even biting her. The suspect took off when the train stopped. Happening today lawyers for the suspect in the horrific murder of Morgan Freemans<\/a> granddaughter are due in court.
