he was a fake doctor. a.j. ross is in the stapleton section. >> reporter: donald lee edwards not only posed as a psychologist, he treated people in his he is behind bars facing serious charges and prosecutors fear there could be more patients unaccounted for. deception is one thing prosecutors say 43-year-old donald lee edwards is an expert on after posing for the past three year as a clinical psychologist and medical doctor practicing out of his staten island home. a patient tipped authorities to lee edwards on unorthodox bedside manner. >> he believed this is the beginning of the investigation. >> reporter: lee edwards provided professional mental health services to over 100 patients and diagnosed and treated patients and prescribed antidepressants out of a small office set up in the basement of this home. >> he was making diagnosis. >> reporter: we spoke with his mother who had little to say about the charges. >> i don't know anything. i don't want to be a part of anything. they have him, they can keep him. >> do you have anything about him saying he was a doctor?
