9news now. >> 4:33 now, the nuclear regulatory commission isn't going into detail about what sort of security problems they found at the smith nuclear plant. only saying it found issues at at least low to moderate significance during the first half of this year. constellation energy the company that runs the plant tells the "baltimore sun" the problems were corrected. but the ncc says further attention could be warranted on that. the future of a northern virginia college is very much in question this morning after a raid by federal agents. >> a number of students were locked out of their school while federal acts were conducting an immigration raid. matt jablow has the story. >> i need to go back to the country with my degree. >> reporter: maria guzman showed up tonight at the university of northern virginia, excited she was only five months away from getting her mba. she left wondering if she'll ever get her masters degree and soon be forced to return home to bolivia. >> because i have to maintain my f 1 visa and if we have more than three absences we're going to lose it. >> reporter: today, agents raided umva, hauling boxes and filing cabinets out of the school's three story building until early in the evening. >> then they took everybody out one by one and spoke to them. >> reporter: umva is a for profit, nonaccredited school in anondale whose student body has foreign students mostly. >> the door opened around 10:00. it was the fbi agent with a bulletproof vest and i. c. e. agent. >> reporter: diana has taught esl for the past 13 years. >> they asked us to stay in the room, therm going to secure the building. >> reporter: the immigration officials said today that some of the reporting was quote lacking and the school must now prove it's in compliance with all immigration laws. what are you studying here? >> mba and hospitality management. >> reporter: he's a student from nepal who says he pays $2,700 a semester to attend the university. you came officials say the school will remain open for now. one of the victims of the so-called serial slasher in fairfax county is speaking out. the woman says she was attacked back in february while she was leaving the fair oaks mall. she says she was visibly protect at the time of the attack and the man just came out of nowhere. she didn't realize she'd been cut until she saw the blood on her hands. he left a three inch gash on her buttocks. >> i don't want him to do this to my more girls, traumatic really. i think it's horrible. and i'm just glad that it's bigger now so that he will get caught. >> there has been five attacks since that february attack with the latest one happening on monday at the same mall. the others happened at the green briar shopping center and at tyson's corner. police say while the suspect dresses in different clothing, one thing has remained constant -- the large white watch on his left arm. if you recognize this suspect, please call police. a presidential historian and his assistant are headed to court today both indicts for stealing and selling historical documents from museums in new york and baltimore. 63-year-old barly landau and his assistant jason savedoff were arrested july 9th. >> they reported seeing savedoff take a document out of the society's baltimore library. the two are also accused of stealing and selling documents from franklin pressure. all the storms in south and being pushed west under the ridge. this is tropical storm don. on the north ends though, some thunderstorms, you can see them there around kansas city, chicago, detroit. detroit this morning, you may have some delays with even some severe thunderstorms extending up to new york and pennsylvania. and around here, well, we're going to be rather quiet. isolated storm last night all this stuff today, maybe western maryland might see something. but rain chances staying fairly low. front pushing through tonight. so tomorrow anything that develops will be south and west of us but a little cooler and less humid. looks like highs tomorrow stay in the 90s low to mid- 90s as opposed to middle 90s and lower 100s. here's don in the gulf of mexico. little flare-up right near the center and maybe don is strengthening a little bit. the latest advisory, the winds at 50 miles per hour and don was moving west northwest at 13 and the forecast track from the hurricane center, between brownsville and corpus christi tonight. it will weaken from a storm to 50-mile-per-hour winds just after coming inland and does pate rather quickly. the problem with that is this part of the world needs a good rain. if that happens they might not get as much rain as they were hoping for. don come on shore likely as a strong tropical storm. today, record heat 102. now tomorrow not as hot. probably not as humid either. highs arnold 95. sunday also 93 and i kind of removed the thunderstorm chances because i think the rain chances right now look fairly low. 10%, 20%. you'd be very lucky if i see a storm out of there. the rest of the seven day forecast, monday, 97. tuesday 93 and potentially by wednesday and thursday, then we'll see a few storms. kris sneed, it's quiet now weather-wise. it is getting rough outside this morning. we start off with the yellow light. virginia drivers taking 95 northbound i recommend drying to find an alternate at this time. we have a couple of accidents, first one here at route 1. you can see only the left lane is getting by. the crews are working on this. then if you go up further northbound in the hov lanes, only the left sold receiver getting by right now. but as you can see on the camera shot, left shoulder getting by, this is near the franconia springfield parkway. crews are trying to clear that scene as well. expect some delays, some good news for virginia drivers, inner loop at braddock road, that accident has been cleared. no problems on 66. no problems coming down from 121 all the way from germanton to the split. on the outer loop, no problems between 95 and 270. inner loop earlier construction to new hampshire has cleared as well as pennsylvania to allentown road. i'm going to be looking at i-95 at 4:56. jessica. the maryland state highway administration is taking preemptive measures to ease traffic around the national naval medical center in bethesda. crews will widen connecticut road northbound to the beltway and cedar lane near route 355. it will help alleviate congestion after patients at walter reed medical center are transferred there. the number of visitors is expected to double when that happens. proof that the drug gives women a better chance of surviving breast cancer. taking the drug for five years improves their 15 year survival rate by one-third. that's according to a study in the journal ran set. researchers followed more than 20,000 patients with the most common form of the disease and caught it early. well, the number of women having a stroke during pregnancy or right after delivery is going up dramatically. the centers for disease control says pregnancy related strokes jumped 54% in the last 12 years. doctors says that because more and more women with high risk factors are getting pregnant. high blood pressure and obesity are among the concerns. the group feed the children teamed up with the nfl players association and other corporate sponsors to give food and other essentials to 2,000 dc families in need. yesterday morning at a distribution point along rhode island avenue in northeast, the group focused on families in ward five. the ward has an from august 5th to the 7th and maryland will offer a full week of tax-free shopping from august 14th through the 20th. during those days school supplies priced up to $20 along with clothes and shoes priced up to $100 will be exempt from taxes. the older kids get, the more likely they are to cheat. that's the findings of a new survey out from fairfax county schools. the survey shows when sixth graders were asked if cheating is okay. 97% of them responded no. by eighth grade, only 82% said they wouldn't ever cheat and just 61% of high school seniors say the same. the survey also shows that older teens are less likely to tell their parents the truth and more likely to ignore the rules. get offeror car and start -- out of your car and start walking. that's what a group called
