Sky 9 is doing a good job of getting us an aerial perspective. The problem is youll need to add 10 to 15 minutes to your morning commute to bypass that delay. Once you get past the delay, youll be good to go with the rest of your route this morning. Again you can see the accident is now on the shoulder. Well have much more on this accident plus an update on the situation around town coming up shortly. For now over to you. A man was shot to death early this morning on ridge road in damascus. Thats where Nikki Burdine is now with an update on what we know so far. Nikki . Reporter thats right. Heartbreaking news any time really but especially less than a week before christmas a man shot to death inside a house. Police say by a man he knew. Take a look. It happened at this home behind me in the 24000 block of ridge road here in damascus. Police tell me that the victim and the suspect knew each other. The victim was a 40yearold man. The suspect a 35yearold man. This is actually the suspects home. Police tell me that the victim and his friend were invited over here to the suspects house yesterday. They were here for quite some time when for some reason there was an argument just after 12 30 this morning for some unknown reason the suspect shot and killed that victim. Im told that police have made a quick arrest in this case. The suspect is already in custody. He stayed on the scene. In fact, his wife even called 911. Police have not released the names of the suspect or the victim in this case. As soon as we have that information, well bring it along you to. Murder charges are expected to soon be filed against a 17 yearold high school student. Another 17yearold who was stabbed last month inside a baltimore classroom has died. Police say on november 24, sophomore Dante Crawford entered the classroom at Renaissance Academy high, stabbed the victim and ran away. Hes already charged as an adult with attempted murder. Prince georges county policee arseinarchg for a gu anman ftera murder outside a Senior Living community in landover. The manual was shot around 5 30 last night on brightseat road right in front of the jericho residences senior communities. He was taken to the hospital but later diedes. Traveling on the inner loop of the beltway from Central Avenue to indian head highway, youre looking at a 10minute commute there. You can see the volume both on the inner and outer loop. It happened at this home here behind me on ridge road. Were in the 24,000 block in damascus. This is what police tell us so far. The suspect actually lives in this house with his wife and police tell me that the suspect invited the victim over to their house yesterday. Im told they were here for quite a while and for some reason just after 12 30, the suspect shot and killed the victim who was apparently his friend. The suspects wife then called 911. Police tell me the suspect stayed on the scene, was quickly arrested and the suspect is in custody at this point. The man who was shot to death, the victim, we have not been told his name just yet. He was proannounced dead here on the scene. Just to tell you one quick note, last year Montgomery County police said they had 19 homicides. This year there are just under 30.
