goncalves joins us live at the scene. so far what do we know, delia? >> reporter: we gist arrived here at the manassas park station a short time ago and immediately heard on the overhead speaker and saw a sign on the electronic billboard that the manassas train to union station delayed at least an hour. the first train was expected at 5:15. our last announcement we just heard was another ten minutes. but listen, this is going to be a delay that's really going to tie things up much longer than that because you can actually see where this freight train about a mile down -- [ no audio ] crews on the scene. i can say seeing the activity there and that train obviously stopped on the tracks going to be sometime before the manassas line does come down to pick up folks heading into washington, d.c. another update in a half- hour. back to you in the studio. >> all right, delia goncalves reporting live from manassas, virginia. today federal and local investigators are going to return to the site of that burned down mansion in annapolis. >> they're expected to resume searching for four people who are still unaccounted for after monday's massive fire. nikki burdine is live near the scene of the home with more. good morning, nikki. >> reporter: good morning. it's hard to imagine what these families must be going through. yes, two victims were found yesterday but the fact remains there are still four people that are missing. investigators plan to come back out here today. but i've been speaking with investigators and firefighters over the past few days. they say they want to try and get this resolved and find these victims if they are in these ruins as quickly as possible to at least give some closure to these families but at the end of the day this is still a crime scene because there are fatalities here and until they can discover what their cause of death was, we don't know if there was any foul play and they can't give these families any conclusions. this is the scene that we've been seeing since we've been out here. investigators, a.t.f. acts, they've -- agents, they've all been out here using cadaver dogs. yesterday afternoon they found two victims. we don't know the identities of these victims, if it was a man, woman or children. we do know the people who owned this home were donald and sandy pyle. neighbors and friends tell us they fear the other four people who are missing from this fire were the couple's grandchildren. we will keep you updated on this from the scene as investigators plan to resume their search at 8:00 this morning. meanwhile the to bodies that were recovered yesterday have been sent to the baltimore medical examiner's office. back to you in the the studio. >> thank you, nikki. federal safety investigators could release new information this morning about the crisis near the l'enfant plaza metro station. the national transportation safety board planned a briefing at metro headquarters at 9:00 a.m. meanwhile new questions are being raised about communications problems which might have contributed to the death of a woman on a yellow line train after smoke inhalation. d.c. fire had recently encrifted its communication -- encrypted its communication system but that information was never relayed to metro. >> that ought to be an immediate red flag in terms of making sure that intraoperability is maintained. we've invested literally hundreds of millions of dollars in radio systems if they don't talk to each other in a moment of crisis, they don't do much good. >> anomalies in the ventilation system may also have played a role in the tragedy. some metro passengers we spoke to are not happy about a possible fare hike. metro is considering raising rail and bus fares by 10 cents per ride. the transit agency also wants to reduce the frequency of trains during peak hours. >> it's not fair at all because it takes me $15 to get from maryland to here and back and the parking. it's a lot of money. >> metro says the fare increase would produce about 22 million in revenue. a man accused of opening fire inside a metro bus is in custody this morning. police say delonte brown of southeast walked off a bus near h street and union station turned around and fired at least one shot into the bus. two people were hurt. they are expected to be okay. so far no word on a motive. a $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in a prince george's county murder case. police say the shooting of earl ross in capitol heights was not a random act. ross was found outside a house on carl gordon court with gunshot wounds. he was 24 years old. a virginia delegate at the center of a sex scandal is facing new felony charges this morning. delegate joseph morrissey is now accused of submitting a forged document as evidence and lying under oath. morrissey has been spending his days in the legislature and his nights in jail. this all after being accused of having sex with a 17-year-old receptionist at his law office. he denies all the charges. coming up, hundreds of people are without a home this morning after an apartment complex burst into jersey following a huge apartment fire which forced hundreds of people out of their homes. it started yesterday evening and burned through the entire apartment complex. the flames lit up the night sky and can be seen from the manhattan side of the hudson river. about 400 people had to be taken to shelters. there is no word on what caused the fire. but this is the second major fire at the same apartment complex since 2000. also in new jersey, two police officers in bridgetown are under investigation in the shooting death of a man during a traffic stop. >> the entire incident was recorded on a police dashboard camera. michele miller with more. >> reporter: it was 9:20 p.m. on december 30 when who officers from the bridgeton police department pulled over a car with two men inside. >> reason i'm pulling you over, you went right through that stop sign. >> reporter: the officer approached the car on the passenger side where 36-year- old jerome reed was sitting. after the officer requested a driver's license, the situation quickly escalated. >> show me your hands. she me [ bleep ] hands. slow me your hands. don't you [ bleep ] move. don't you [ bleep ] move. get him out of the car. >> reporter: the officer appears to reach into the car, removing a silver object. >> you reach for something, you're going to be [ bleep ] dead. he's reaching. show me your [ bleep ] hand. no, you're not. don't move. >> reporter: reed was shot multiple times and later died. maria is the dean of john jay college of criminal justice in new york and an expert in use of force by police. >> the don't do anything because i'm going to shoot you, he continues to move. >> reporter: is this a justified shooting? >> in my mind, yes. >> both police officers are on paid leave. the county prosecutor is investigating. the dead man's family wants the state attorney general to take case. a man is lucky to be alive after a car plowed into a bus shelter and hit him. it happened last night on inwood avenue in wheaton near university boulevard. the driver remained on the scene. it's still unclear why his car slammed into that bus stop. a inside a georgetown home is being examined now at fort belvoir. the owner of the home says workers found it in the chimney during some renovations last month. he kempt it in his home office for a little while and moved it to his backyard shed. his wife holding a pair of japanese citizens hostage. the militants are threatening to kill those hostages tomorrow unles together crow pays a $200 million ransom. the japanese government claims so far it's heard nothing from isis. the governor says it's trying to reach the capitallors through third parties. -- captors through third parties. new violence broke out in ukraine. shelling at a bus stop has killed at least injuries have also been reported. the fighting comes as the military admits to losing the airport to pro-russia rebels. the latest violence figures to cr inease tension as well despite russia and ukraine agreeing on a dividing line to pull back heavy weapons. a duke university fraternity has been suspended in the wake of rape allegations. investigators say the incident took place a week ago in an off campus house beloning to alpha delta phi. the woman who was allegedly attacked said she was served hot chocolate and the next thing they remembers is waking up with her leggings torn and on the ground. the measles outbreak linked to disney theme parks in california is still growing. so far 59 people have contracted the disease. 42 of those cases have been traced back to the disneyland outbreak, including seven disney employees. a handful of cases linked to disney have been reported in utah, washington, colorado, oregon and mexico. the measles is so contagious that 90% of people who are not vaccinated and come in contact with an infected person will become infected. finally later today, the agriculture department is expected to introduce new sol ter standards for -- voluntary standards for the poultry industry designed to decrease the incidence of salmonella. we'll wait and see what that advice is and keep you posted. >> thank you very much. it is 6:18 on this indict bid a federal grand jury in cincinnati. the 20-year-old is charged with attempting to kill u.s. officials and employees at the u.s. capitol. he was arrested outside a gun shop a week ago. the f.b.i. says christopher cornell planned to attack the capitol with pipe bombs and shooting government officials and employees. the navy captain in charge of the naval station at guantanamo bay, cuba, has been fired. captain john r. nettleton was relieved of duty due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command. nettleton is under investigation in the con-- in connection with the death of christopher terr found dead by the coast guard january 11. history is being made in havana. a second day of talks between the u.s. and cuban diplomats is expected to go today. diplomats from both nations are trying to iron out some specifics when it comes to reestablishing diplomatic ties it the two countries. so far the talks have focused on easing travel restrictions on u.s. diplomats in cuba and coordinating immigration policies. >> despite the clear differences that remain between our countries, the united states and cuba can find opportunities to advance our mutually shared struck and killed by a train around 3:45 this morning. vre's twitter page says it was an amtrak train. >> delia goncalves is live near wary road where this -- wary road where this happened -- quarry road where . what do we know so far? >> the platform here at clear out because a lot of passengers received the latest tweet from vre saying they don't know how long this delay will take. they suggest that passengers find alternate routes of transportation heading into washington, d.c. about a mile down the tracks here from manassas park, you can see the headlight of that freight train that struck the passenger early this morning. and that is what's causing these major delays. we are told that the vre train that was heading this way has now returned to the broad run station. so that's an indication that even vre of course not certain when this will clear up on the tracks and when they can start running again to get these folks to washington, d.c. we talked to a commuter who was here waiting patiently for some time as opposed to driving or metroing into d.c. saying it boils down to communication because he believes that perhaps vre wasn't told of the situation immediately and that is perhaps why the information came down, so late to a lot of these customers. it was nearly 5:30, about two hours or so after the incident until folks here at manassas park were told there was a delay. of course now the platform beginning to clear as folks are getting this latest information that vre is not certain when this will clear up and when they can get their train running again. the vre train heading to manassas park has now returned so broad run. that's the very latest here from manassas, delia goncalves, wusa9. >> delia, have we been able to find anything out about the pedestrian, if they are alive or not? >> reporter: we don't have that information. we're told the location is around 8500 block of quarry road. we did go by that location when we first arrived here about an hour or so ago. couldn't see any activity. but what you do see behind me is kind of in a wooded area off quarry road. so we're not certain. we haven't had access to that scene. we have seen some police activity through our photographer's zoom lens so we can see it's still an active investigation but we don't have any information in regards to the pedestrian. we do know that the initial calls that came in was for emergency services but there was no transport to the hospital once the emergency personnel did arrive. >> thank you, delia, live in manassas this morning. the bodies of two people have been found in the charred remains of an annapolis area mansion which burned to the ground on monday. >> four people at this point are unaccounted for. six people were in the house. a husband, wife and four grand children. nikki burdine joins us live with more. do we know who those bodies were that were found, nikki? >> reporter: they don't know when we'll know the identities. we know the people who own the home were donald and sandy pyle. friends and neighbors tell us the four potential victims they are looking for could be the couple's grandchildren. they of course made that discovery yesterday of to bodies. investigators were out here all day and then they briefed us yesterday. it was a very brief press conference where they told us they were able to use cadaver dogs and they made that discovery. still four victims unaccounted for. police will be back out here starting at 8:00 to start searching through the ruins. it's a very tedious process. this is a 16,000 square foot house. on top of digging up all these massive pieces of debris and these large-scale beams and making it safe for investigators to come through, they have about five houses worth of stuff to dig through and try to find out if there are any victims here. again, investigators will be back out here but i've been speaking to them the past couple of days and they are trying their best to give these families closure because this is a very difficult part of this, just not knowing but they have to be as careful as to be very meticulous as they are investigating the scene because at the end of the day this is still a crime scene because there are fatalities here. until we know how these people died, we don't know if there was any foul play or not. those bodies taken yesterday to the medical leaders killed an abortion bill. the measure would have banned virtually all late-term abortions. the g.o.p. had planned to push that legislation through today but the plan was dropped after meetings with women republican lawmakers and others who oppose that measure. the house vote was supposed to coincide with today's march for life in washington. thousands of antiabortion protesters will mark the anniversary of the 1973 supreme court decision which legalized abortion. the house now plans to vote on legislation that would ban taxpayer funding for abortion. that's a measure that's already largely in effect. a youth rally aimed at ending legalized abortion isle planned today in washington. the archdiocese of washington is organizing the event. it takes place at verizon center starting at 7:30 this morning. more than 28,000 cast lick teenagers from around the country are -- catholic teenagers from around the country are expected to attend and join the march afterwards. we want to tracking toward you. same story as we head toward dale city, quantico, stafford, fredricksburg. this still has to come through your neck of the woods. if you have a brief period of snow showers, that will put just a coating. fog still a problem. we have visibility as quarter mile this westminster and hagerstown. half mile at pax river naval air staying and orange right now one-quarter of a mile with temps this morning running 30'ish. reagan national up to 37 with cloudy skies and just a little fog in washington. our forecast calls for temps in the 40s today with sunshine returning later this morning into the afternoon. mid-40s tomorrow with clouds increasing. tomorrow night into saturday the system is going to bring a wintry mix and rain. potentially more rain east of i- 95. we'll watch that in case it changes but a yellow alert for saturday. sunday is okay. then monday a clipper will bring some snow and then some cold behind that. tuesday a windy, cold day with flurries high of 32. >> reporter: law enforcement sources tell cbs news the f.b.i. completed its investigation into the shooting death of 18- year-old michael brown by former ferguson police officer darren wilson. wilson shot and killed the unarmed teen during an altercation last august. a mtz ms. grand jury refuse -- missouri grand jury refused to indict him. after conducting interviews with more than 200 people and reviewing surveillance tapes and cell phone videos the f.b.i. said it found no evidence to show wilson intentionally violated brown's civil rights. the shooting sparked widespread protests and accusations that the officer had used unjustifiable force. president obama addressed the issue in his state of the union address. >> surely we can understand a father who fears his son can't walk home without being harassed. >> reporter: a broader investigation by the justice department into the practices of the ferguson police department continues. prosecutors are trying to determine if the largely white ferguson force has demonstrated a history of racial profiling and discrimination. in his state of the state address, missouri governor jay nixon spoke of the need for reform. >> we need reporter: authorities again released video of more than a hundred people wanted for looting at a local market during the height of the violence. >> that was susan mcginnis reporting. in arlington right now crews are on the scene of a two- alarm house fire. one person has been rescued and taken to the hospital. this is on south randolph street. crews got the victim out of the house into the
