Todays highs in the upper 70s and low 80s saturday and then sunday, also low 80s but sunday will feature the threat for some storms and even up in oh bethany. Dewey and rehoboth not much different. Most of the weekend should be pretty good and dont pert the sunscreen and you notice the water temperatures now running in the low 70s over this. Almost comfortable i think another 15 degrees or so before my wife would step in the water. Just tipty toe at 72. Weatherwise 86 beautiful degrees today and low humidity. Tonight 70 with low to mid60s in the cool spots so no 50s. Tomorrow 91. The osilated afternoon storm. Right here on 270 northbound it was before route 109 involving a pickup truck and a car. A hell cometter was at the scene and helicopter was at the scene. You can see the northbound side is Getting Better. There was a long black line here earlier this morning. And southbound side still affected by it. And thats because of the rush hour flow and earlier rubber necking delays as well. Outthinks are beginning to improve on so things are beginning to improve on 270. Heres what it looks like if youre planning to head on 270 at route 109. Southbound and as i said, things are looking much better. I jus switched to my clicker and i want to show you whats going on on the graphics right now. On the northbound side of 95 there was a crash involving a motorcycle northbound route 123 in the hov lanes and that set the sewn tone for a tough one in the hov lanes. The main lines are doing fine through here. Lets go a little further north on i95 in springfield and where traffic moving pretty well as you head up toward the mixing bowl and on to 395. Well end with a live look there at the 14th street bridge. And just slow across the bridge span and we can handle that. Look good into downtown across all the potomac and Anacostia River crossings. Tomorrow the silver line will officially open to the public and we know about the construction delays leading up to this point. But this new line almost didnt get past the planning stage. There was a day in early 2008 when the administrator told us after all the work we had done ask all the planning, after everything that the project wouldnt qualify for federal funding and that meant that it was dead. I had to persuade the secretary of transportation to overturn him. The secretary of transportation mary peter was a fantastic peter was a fantastic partner. That day in late february of 2008, where she said okay, ive heard you. Youre right. I think we can make this happen. We have some more questions to answer more work to do. But that was a very exciting day. And tomorrow is going to be great. Are you going to get on board tomorrow . The new father so to speak of this. What ive decided to do i might be too overcome with emotion tomorrow. What im going to do is let them open and then just show up one day at the avenue and ride to work. I live in richmond. But i think one day here in the russell building just drive out to the stop and check it out just like everybody else. Dont park in a neighborhood. Ill let somebody drop me off there. Phase two any looming issues that could still derail it . You know the phase two again the big issue was the financing. And secretary lahood and the department of transportation or the Obama Administration has been very supportive just as the Bush Administration was. So the basic financing package is set for phase two. And the construction is already underway. So i know with the project of this size, is there going to be some controversy . Yes, i can guarantee you there will. I dont know what it will be, there will be something. But this project is just too right for Northern Virginia commuters. And businesses. And the future of dulles airport. So i know its going to happen. I feel a great sense of confidence. All right. Bell, whether this is going to happen a cease fire deal could be brokered in the gaza strip. Secretary of state john kerry u. S. Officials say progress being made. What is the answer to the conflict here . That is such a big question. I mean the answer is youre right, the righteous step is a cease fire. Hamas started to escalate rocket attacks in an unprovoked way. And in any rue, they decided to try to scuttle the peace talks between the Palestinian Authority on the west bank and israel and this was their way of doing it. Theyve got to stop the rocket attacks. Once that happens israel can stop the necessary defense that theyre undertaking. But then the parties have to be back at the table to put the grievances on the table. And continue to look for what the u. N. Intended in 1947, which is an independent israel and an independent palestine living in peace side by side. Thats been the dream and its u. S. Policy. Its the best thing for israel. Its the best thing for palestine. Its the best thing for the world and so each side has to put their legitimate concerns on the table and thresh through them. The decisions were going well in march and then they fell apart. They continue to fall apart. Over the years, they start. They stop. But the folks that want peace what weve seen in recent days is peace is hard. But the alternative is worse. Is worse. This situation and whats happening in ukraine critics say its all because of the weakness that people sense in the u. S. Administration specifically president obama. They dont see him as a leader. They no longer see the United States as a superpower. How do you fight back against that perception and is it true of Vladimir Putin has no reason to negotiate i hate the attitude that i hear among critics in the United States kind of a blame America First attitude. Are you kidding . Youre going to blame america because putin is an authoritarian when the soviet union went into hungary in 1966 it wasnt because he was weak. When they went into afghanistan it wasnt because carter was weak. When putin went into georgia in 2008 it wasnt because bush was weak. Hes going to do but backing down; they dont back down because they no longer see the United States as a tiger with teeth. The u. S. Has the largest economy in the world and has the Strongest Military in the world. What we need to do is rally europe to try to join us in sanctions. We put sanctions on russia that have been effective. But theyre only effective to a certain degree because were not a bit the u. S. Is not a big part of the russian economy. But europe is. So if injury will join us in the pangs sanction, europe will join us in the sanctions, the thing we ought to be doing is more vigorously sanctioning the Russian Energy sector. Its a rust belt economy with 2345678 resources and try to buy Natural Resources and try to buy friends. Thats the problem. Thats the problem here, if we help europe develop their own energy and consider maybe exporting energy to them. If we find them other suppliers, they can wean themselves off of russia. And thats a way to check putin. Well have to end it there.
