Metro is worried its train operator blew through a stop signal. The feds call it a serious problem. And now they want to put the brakes on it. Reporter it was the middle of the morning rush. Metro is investigating if its operator blew past the platform. These red lights signal an operator to stop. Metro thinks that did not happen. Warnings went off in its control center. The train operator has been pulled from duty. That was the right thing to do. Send a message, right . Safety is first. The federal Transit Administration is now investigating the incident. It says theres been 50 red signal violations in five years. And theyre on the rise. It called that a serious safety concern. just last week, there was a red signal violation on the red line. Metro says it was a near miss with another train. After that, the operator was fired. I wish they were paying a little more attention.
