The special needs victim fell. That victim we believe, in their early 20s is a resident at a special needs group home. Police chief hank dewinski says finding a witness who was with the shooter, but trying to help the victim before running away, is now the focus of this investigation. And thats why im asking the person who saw this to come forward. And help us keep the people in the community safe. The shooting happened just after 1 00 in the afternoon. Police say the special needs man was walking, with two caregivers and a fellow group home. Where some kind of argument broke out with a person in a car. One possible motive. He said he knew something strange was happening. Because he kept hearing, whistling. He saw the guy going back and forth. Just blowing his whistle. And was kind of weird. The lifeguard is seen on this cell phone video, taken by someone just outside the pool fence. Witnesses say the lifeguard was acting strange for sometime. In fact, thats why police were called. He didnt make anything of it. Just tht drowning. And we saw the lifeguard pacing back and forth. Blowing the whistle. Police say the 20yearold lifeguard was speaking polish and seemed to be very upset. They called for a polish speaking officer to talk to him, try to calm him down. But the young man went back into the water and did not come up. A civilian who apparently is another lifeguard, is seen talking to police. And he jumped in himself when the man had been under water for two minutes and 40 seconds. Officers begin removing their gear and jump in also. They pull out the man, find no pulse and begin cpr. The police, were told, got a pulse within seconds. Some people had been critical of those officers for not jumping in sooner. At that point, its not believed the gentleman was making any verbal threats about harming himself. And it seemed to be just a fluid situation where they were talking to the gentleman. He was entering the pool, exiting the pool. Trying to calm him do the crisis intervention needed. If the man who jumped in first was, in fact, a lifeguard, then thats more appropriate that he pull the young man out. Because the officers are not trained to do water rescue. If the officer would have hut his life at risk, if he jumped in with all of his gear on, we would have had to rescue two people as opposed to one. People who live in long wood knolls believe they spotted a coyote in their yards. And they think it might have killed a cat. They are worried it might actually hurt a child next. And unpredictable. And it can hit a small animal, a child. Its not the first time people have spotted it in the they should. Saw a coyote in her backyard a couple of weeks ago. Looked up and looked at them and kept walking on. The next morning, she found the neighbors cat dead in her yard. A neighbor of ours found a cat that looked very much like it had been attacked and killed by probably a coyote, rather than a fox because i dont think fox would be able to manage that. Fox sightings are common. Neighbors say there is a foxs den just behind their home, where large power lines run into the city. They are generally elusive. They dont seem to like feeding them. I think a coyote kibe a little more of would be more of a concern than a fox. They said unless the animal is sick or injured, they dont come out. When a child gets hurt, thats when theyll start taking notice. And we want to stop it before a child or animal or even an adult is injured. While people say they are not as concerned about the foxes in this area, they are concerned about some of their neighbors who continue to put food out for the foxes.
