That oil slick is now 9 miles long threatening birds and other wildlife. Reporter workers are spread across the shoreline in Central California scraping and raking the sand to clean up oil thats washed ashore. More than 20,000 gallons of oil leaked from a broken pipeline into the Pacific Ocean creating a massive slick near Santa Barbara. On the water crews are skimming as much oil as possible. Oil recovery tend to be a complicated process that involves a lot of manual labor. We want to make sure to do it right to get the beaches back to its pristine condition. Reporter the oil is coating everything including all these rocks along the shore and crews are bagging whatever they can find washed up on the beach. Many are concerned whales are swimming into the crude and some birds are already coated in oil. You got to wash them off with like palmolive and stuff and clean them up and get them out of here.
