Reporter thousands of commuters pay their fair share and pass through the turn styles on septa platforms every day. Then there are those who dont. So called fare evaders who maneuver their way on to septa trains every day free of charge. If the el is coming im going to jump. Reporter that was mentality of one fair jumper snagged by septa police and caught on camera by fox 29 as he hurdled his way on at the platform at kensington and allegheny and didnt pay one dime. Usually nobody standing here and i jump over there and like reporter the guy ended up in the hands of septa police. He was handcuffed and given a 300 summons for evading the 2. 25 sent fare. You know thats 300 fine of time you do that. Yes, sir. Reporter and he wasnt alone on the day fox 29 cameras joined septa police in a Late Afternoon fare evasion blitz at kensington and allegheny. We saw five fare jumpers get snagged in just 25 minutes. Including these two guys jumping the turn styles at erie and torresdale. They were caught by the time they got off at k and a. You jump the fare over there. Get out of my face, yo. I aint paying, i didnt have no money. Its a 300, ticket, right. 2 to get on. 300 if you dont pay. Reporter septa has made an effort to catch the fare jumpers the number of summonses handed out to violators as jumped from 416 in 2011 to over 3,000 last year. In the force six months of this year, 2300 summonses have been issued. Its not because fair evasion is astronomically increas increg its because were watching them, wered dressing the and war going to stop them. Reporter septa police have sim p. M. But effective way of snagging them. 17,000 cameras are focused on platforms and trains. Cashiers are also the eyes and ears on the platforms. Theres then veteran septa officer dell foster. Hes a watchful eye at headquarters. He has seen every kind of fare evader you can imagine. The best guy out, he was on his phone and as hes walking, he jumped and still was talking on the phone in the air and kept on walking. He must have grew up doing it. Reporter once a cashier or foster spots a fare jumper its called up to screen. Foster snaps a picture with his cell phone and immediately sips that photo out to septa police on platforms across the city. This way know exactly what the guy look like. That will be the end of that. Were waiting for that train. When that train gets there, the officer already has the picture on his or her cell phone. Reporter the chief says most times the fare evaders are caught within minutes. We have obviously officers spread throughout the system. Theyre strategically placed at locations that we know we have a problem. Reporter the chief also says, the crack down on fare jumpers is a quality of live issue on septa. He said hard working people can pay their fair share, why should others get away with paying nothing . If you think you can beat 17,000 cameras, youre a bad dude. But you wont. Well catch you and well be hooking you up with a cheese sandwich. Reporter he also believes theres a direct correlation between fare evaders and crime on the system. It is my opinion that fare evaders are the first step to real crime on the system. Theyre not jumping the turn styles to visit grandma or headed to the library. Theyre jumping them to create disorder on the system and create crime. Commit crime. We pressed them for an explanation much you know its a 300 fine, right . 300 bucks versus two bucks to get on. Not a good deal. Should have paid the two bucks, right. Its a crime. Septa says since its crack down on fare evaders started, serious crimes like robbery, theft, rape and murder are down 14 across the system. So might get a little wet at times. Just a little showers. Not a drowning. Not looking at severe thunderstorms or anything but that rain to keep it interesting for howard eskin sitting on the side line. Ill be standing but either way i could be wet. Or standing. Thursday night the eagles play the Pittsburgh Steelers and they are favored theyre betting lines on these games eagles are a three and half point favorite it all happens at the linc the starters will play most of the first half. And the certified tough guy brent celek will get more playing time its obvious he can take a hit and did the last game. Coaches like those kind of players and although chip kelly took a little shot at lesean mccoy with his practice work ethic he was all about brent celek. I think brett sets the tone for everybody here in terms of his physical toughness and mental toughness hes a guy that you can count on on daily basis. He loves playing football. Just how i was brought up. Yeah. That was cant let them know they hurt you. He take hits. He can break tackles. Hes a hard runner. He just plays hard. Thats one thing about him. Everybody knows brent celek as a tight end hes one of the toughest tight ends in the league. The ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness and raise money for als has gotten to the eagles. Its a pool but its got ice in it and it is cold. But just to top it off, the dumpsters made sure they got the ice and the water mccoy did like what he saw however with the head coach. He like these crazy battles. Slow game we had he was all hyped for it. Jumping in cold water of ice. We like challenges. Hes used to that. The players actual dollar that once a week. But hey its for a good cause. Cleveland browns Quarterback Johnny Manziel continue to show his immature are the as person and a player. Johnny free fall and now johnny gesture acted like a child in his preseason game last night against washington. Lets go to d. C. Did not play well. Hes not a good quarterback and ill stand on those words. Even though he is still young but he decided to show the redskins you are number one. And that will get him a fine that you are number one. Manziel tried to make his typical excuses. I dont think its a positi positive. laughter . No, no no distract at all. I mean, its not a big deal to me. I think i need to, like i said hold my exposure better but its a gesture. I was inform of it after the game it was disappointing because what we talk about is being poised and focused. You have to be able to maintain your poise. Does he think hes playing in the sand lots . I dont think if hes thinking much. Not a good quarterback. Hes immature. He does thing hes not supposed to do, and where can i stop . He will not be a good starting quarterback in the nfl. I used to love watching him play for thing a geese. I got to tell you. Good for you. Youre right. Ill stop. All right. Thanks howard. Bullet holes in local neighborhood where a cop survives being shot in the head.
