evening in response to the violent rally in charlotte charlottesville, virginia ton night a virginia state police spokesperson saying "it was not a good day for charlottesville and from all appearances that is an understatement on many leve levels. >> it was build as a white nationalism event taking place in charlottesville, virginia and from the onset, there was tension and chaos. erupt flood extreme violence. between supporters anti, protesters and law enforcement. >> we were hoping it would not elevate to this level of the violence we witnessed amongst participants. in the crowds on all sides they were throwing bottles, throwing soda cans with settlement in them, they were throwing paint balls, um, they were fighting, breaking out attacking one another. >> reporter: the governor declaring a state of emergency and police in yi riot gear ordered everyone to leave the park where the unite the right rally was taking place. around the same time a car drove into the crowd and one person was killed. more than a dozen people have been injured. charlottesville police with the assistance of national guard personnel moved the crowds through the streets to disburse them. police expected several thousand people to attend the rally. this racially charged event coming on the heels of a recent charlottesville city council vote to remove a statue of confederate civil war general robert e. lee. >> we condemn in the strongest possible terms this agregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. >> reporter: the president making a statement this afternoon after being briefed on the violent rally as well as the albright march last night through the grounds of university of virginia. >> the hate and it division must stop. and must stop right now. >> reporter: virginia's governor saying he was disgust by the hate tread, bigotry and violence that the rally and protesters brought to charlottesville. again, some act viv tifts plan to rally and march a. when we're not on the air we're always on. we have the latest online at fox29.com. a man is in critical condition tonight after airshotting in the city's kensington section. philadelphia police say someone opened fire on the vick jim just before 1:00 o'clock this afternoon on the 600 block of west tioga street. the man was shot a half dozen times. right now he's fighting for his life at temple university hospital non arrests have been made. >> now to your fox 29 weather authority. a live look at the boardwalk in wildwood. and it's not the best weekend to be down the shore if you were looking for sunny, clear skies. pretty dreary out there this evening. dawn? >> yeah, here in old city, not a bad day to visit some of the city's historic sites. definitely not too hot out there. you can see lots of clouds in the sky there. fox 29 meteorologist mike masco is here. mike, i guess we're bracing for severe weather tonight. north and west guys we've been watching all afternoon long. even had some tornado warnings over central pennsylvania. we are looking at old city shot because we were seeing ominous skies up towards the north and to the west. that's because we do have severe weather occurring right now in berks county. it's 80 degrees out, very muggy 80 degrees with south wind coming in at 9 miles per hour. the basically from philadelphia points north and west we do have a severe thunderstorm watch. so this is the area we'll be watching for the possibility of thunderstorms developing and thus becoming severe currently have severe thunderstorm warning for berks county this is up until 6:15. watching this pretty closely right around the reading area these storms ar moving just to the north of 76. we flip ultimate doppler on its side, you notice these cloud tops are towering up to around 30, 40,000 feet so that indiates to me we could be talking about damaging winds even small hail as these storms move off towards the east at 30 miles an hour. so moving eastward we're expecting them to move into amity around 6:30. pottstown 6:55 and after the 7:00 o'clock hour from pottsgrove down towards upper providence these storms could pack a punch. we'll go south of that and these storms over lancaster moving to the east at 30. we'll have to watch eventual and southern chester and eventually delaware county for the possibility of severe weather. now on high resolution future cast we're showing a line around 8:00 o'clock in town moving towards 295, 70 into new jersey and then off the shore line by 10:00 o'clock and then by tomorrow, this storm system is out of here and we got a great setup. just be on guard again flash flooding hail and damaging winds all high probability for the rest of tonight. we'll do more storm track ong ultimate doppler coming up in just little bit. guys. >> thank you mike. it was more than a rude awakening for philadelphia woman when bullets started flying in the middle of the night in her rhawnhurst neighborhood. but police say it turned out worse for the woman. she was shot more than once. she's in the hospital tonight. police say whoever pull the trigger right outside the victim's window is still out there tonight. fox 29's jennifer joyce has the very latest. >> well, we got home, i guess, it was after midnight and the street was blocked. there were cops and ambulance everywhere. >> reporter: police activity not the norm in this section of rhawnhurst according to neighbors like eileen nice zen felled. >> scary. >> reporter: 8500 block of somerdale avenue decorated wit d and blue emergency lights aft police say say someone shot a 58-year-old woman while she was inside her bedroom half asleep. the gunman was outside her window according to police. she heard what appeared to her to be noises coming from outside her house, um, she went to the window, um, the window was opened. she noticed the screen was opened a little bit. so we don't know if she closed it but, um, she remembers they looked outside, didn't see anything. went back to her bed and next thing you know she felt a burning sensation in her arm. so she woke up, saw a little blood, um, she called 911. >> it was a little disturbing right across the road, and we were obviously worried but since there were cops here at that point we weren't that worried. >> reporter: three bullets struck the victim. according to investigators who tell us the woman is in stable condition at jefferson hospital. her neighbors are hoping for the best. >> i know her very well. great family. yeah. wonderful woman. always helping the neighbors. great family. big family, yeah. >> reporter: responding police officers treated the case as an a e attempted robbery. >> it appears that someone would have to actually climb on to a char to actually fire into the bedroom area. >> reporter: gunman took off before officers arrived on scene. detectives are tracking leads. neighbors hope answers and an arrest come quickly. >> at this point you wonder do they know them, is it random, stuff like that. >> reporter: in rhawnhurst, jennifer joyce, fox 29 news. the eagles resuming training camp this morning at the novacare complex. day after a blockbuster trade shook up the roster just four weeks away from the start of the regular season. popular wide receiver jordan matthews sent to buffalo for help in the eagles beleaguered themselves in today. police say a gunman opened fire on bustleton avenue around the thee 30:00 yesterday afternoon after several men started fighting. one man was hit. he is in stable condition. police say a man in south jersey drowned after running from officers. investigators say they were responding to a wawa in woodbury for a report of a shoplifter just before 4:00 o'clock this morning. they say the 20-year-old ran from police. when they tried to speak to him. police say he jumped into woodbury lake and never came back up. his body was recovered this morning at the lake between north broad street and evergreen avenue. tonight police in camden county need your help locating a teenaged girl who has gone missing. police say amman knee ba they ya lehman has been reported missing from her home in the 1300 block of south merry mack in the fairview section of camden. she was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black tights an gray sweatshirt. if you have any information that may help police want to hear from you. and still to come tonight, a painting worth multiple millions stolen from museum more than 30 years ago. so who brought it back after all this time? >> also coming up a popular old city philadelphia bar closes its doors for good. but the reason behind it is rubbing some people the wrong way. look right now at news happening around the world. violence continues in kenya after president kenyata wins a second term. >> officials say the death toll has risen to at least 24 people killed by police gunfire in the riots that have taken over the streets since tuesday's electi election. today things only got worse. video showing police charging at opposition supporters and journalists firing tear gas while they run for cover in the smoke covered slums. a father told reporters his 99-year-old daughter was killed by a stray bullet while playing with friends. it comes after kenyata won the vote at 54% on tuesday. the number of people dead continues to rise tonight in the worst train wreck in years in egypt. officials claiming confirming 43 people have been killed and there may be more bodies and survivors. rescue teams searching the wreckage as both trains are removed from the tracks. more than 100 people are hurt so far. the train was traveling to the capital city of cairo when it slammed into the back of the other train. developing to night, there's the senate majority leader mitch mcconnell from expressing frustration with each other over the failure of an obamacare repeal recent place plan something the president insists isn't over yet. >> seven years they've been talking repeal and replace, and it didn't happen. i was not impressed. >> i think excessive expectations of how quickly things happen in the democratic process. >> reporter: some wondered if the public fighting will hurt the president at a time when his agenda has struggled to pass a deeply divided congress. a number of senators are standing up for mcconnell after president trump sent out a number of critical tweets and comments aimed at the senate leader. republican analysts say this is not a fight senators want to pick because their re-elections aren't tied to the president and ultimately they believe the base will side with mr. trump. >> that's why you see the president fighting so hard to hold them accountable. it doesn't symptom stop witness senate or the house it hurts all republicans the fact that the leadership here in d.c. can't pass the promises that they made. >> reporter: september comes with at least two brutal legislative hurdles. not only does congress need to come up with and pass a budget, they also have to raise the federal borrowing limit to avert a partial government shut down bite end of september. on top of that the president's team working to fund his border wall and come up with attacks reform bill. and while the president is struggling to pull his own party together, to accomplish anything they will need democrats on board all this down to about three weeks until congress returns. in washington, lauren blanchard, fox news. and back here at home, it was a popular old city bar drawing beer lovers from all over the follow breaking news out of charlottesville v have a. one person is dead and more than two dozen other people are hurt after a car plowed into a crowd of people. the group had been peacefully protesting a white national lift rally but it turned into chaos when violence erupted between supporters, anti protesters and law enforcement. the driver was arrested. the governor has declared a state of emergency and just spoke moments ago. >> i have a message to all the white supremacists and the natzis who came into charlottesville today. our message is plain and simple. go home. you are not wanted in this great commonwealth. shame on you. you pretend that you're patriots but you are anything but a patriot. >> ♪ and a painting missing for more than three decades has been found. >> earlier this week a good samaritan returned the william -- back to the university of arizona museum of art. the painting was stolen by a man an woman just a day after thanksgiving back in 1985. authorities say the couple caught the painting out of its -- cut the painting out of its frame left and never return. person who returned it, antique shop owner in new mexico who bought it during an estate sale. the museum says it's happy to have the painting back and is calling its return a monumental moment for the museum. by the way, similar paintings by that same artist are valued at more bracing for some severe weather. not going to be the best night to bar hop in philadelphia or head out to your favorite restaurant unless you have an umbrella. meteorologist mike masco here. some storms are headed our way. >> i wanting to back to that reading camera, ladies, take look. you can see how the cloud this is actually looking as the system is now moving towards the east of reading but you can see kind of a roll cloud there. so we had severe weather warnings in berks county. they have been allowed to discontinue. now dealing with flood advisories we'll be watching the skies very closely here in old city for right around 8:00 o'clock that's when we're expecting the timing of some of these storms to move into our vicinity. the 80 degrees in town right now. south wind coming in at nine that's why it's been muggy afternoon. if you were down along the beach front today, lots of clouds. that wind coming right off the ocean that kept item down into the 70's warmest spot is here in philadelphia coming at 80 degrees. now the dew point values way up there. that's why we'll be watching very closely radar and for that reason we have severe thunderstorm watches being posted from philadelphia points north and to the west that's up until 9:00 o'clock for the possibility of thunderstorms rapidly developing and possibly testing severe weather limits. so there's the flood advisory that's berks county until 9:30. we are seeing some localized roadway flooding, and there's the system now pushing into pottstown and this is going to be running along 76 over the next 30 to 40 minutes before it starts to enter north chester county. southwestern montgomery county also detecting a little hail on our ultimate doppler system so it might be some small sized hail, possibility of winds gusting close to 50 miles an hour. there are no active warnings just yet. but we'll have to watch this system pretty closely. so pottstown 6:55. limerick at 7:22. and norristown at 8:17. that's when we're timing the storms to arrive in your communities watching right around drexel hill bala cynwyd we're watching thunderstorm developing at the present moment. future cast is showing us the thunderstorms moving across to town. it's being ignited because of a cold front out to the west. but this front is out of here by tomorrow. mostly sunny skies breaking out and temperatures that will be very easy to take and as we go into next week, not seeing a lot of heat on our boards all the heat will be confined down towards the south. speaking of heat, start to go heat up in the tropics. take look. watching this 99 it's not tropical depression or tropical storm just yet we'll have to watch this closely because the modeling is taking it pretty close to the outerbanks of north carolina before it's hooked out to sea. but that's a little too close for comfort. so we'll have to watch that certainly in the days ahead. look at your shore cast tomorr tomorrow. 82 to 84 degrees. mostly to the topic called sun, moon, earth but as child he missed out in a big way. >> i was a nine-year-old boy in 1979 the last time a total eclipse happened. it went right over my house in portland oregon i knew nothing about eclipses and i heard the news. i was terrified. i thought some special ray boss come out during totality and would burn your eyes out. so i actually hid in the house. >> [ laughter ] >> i'm a middle. ♪ shoulders don't just carry pads. they carry your fans passions, hopes, and dreams. and maybe, a chance at greatness because shoulders were made for greatness. not dandruff. ♪ a southwest airlines employee goes above and beyond to help a cancer patient. stacey says her luggage with important medication did not arrive on flight from nashville. that's when sarah rowan worker for dallas based southwest airlines tracked down that luggage. put the bag in her car and drove it to her home at 3:00 o'clock in the morning. hurt found the luggage op her doorstep the next morning with handwritten note inside apologizing for the delay and telling her to kick that cancer's butt. >> that is so sweet. big win for taylor swift in court. a judge throws out a dj's claim against her. the dj was suing the singer claiming she got him fired after alleging that he groped her during a meet and greet. but the judge said there was no proof the pop star got him fir fired. however, the singer's count suit was allowed to continue. she claims david mueller reached under her skirt and grabbed her yesterday swift's bodyguard took the stand saying he saw it happen. so we've all probably taken a picture at one point or another that has us going, hmm, do i really look like that? but for one local man, his picture made a huge impact. that picture he took with one of his favorite sun singers had him realizing how much weight he had gained. so he told our bill anderson that at that moment, he decided to make a change and did he it for goodness sake. [ inaudible ] >> i inspired him to get in better shape, better health. that's just one of the many reasons that makes what i do pretty gratifying and fulfilli fulfilling. >> brian copeland assistant to the upper dublin chi of police got a chance to meet one of his country music heroes josh turner a year ago. he was excited about the chance to meet turner didn't exactly like the picture they took together. >> got a picture with him, and afterwards, viewed the picture and was honestly disgusted with the way i look. >> reporter: seeing himself overweight really sunk in and and inside him to lose weight and get in shape. a year later, this was ryan when i met him today. >> i decided it was time to start taking care of myself. so ten months later, i -- after dieting and working out, i lost 100 pounds. >> reporter: any of us who have tried to lose weight know that 100 pounds is a huge accomplishment. but as fate would have it turner was scheduled to come back to the area recently and ryan really wanted to share the results with the person who helped inspire him. >> i told the security guard i have to show him something. so we go back there and i'm sitting with him standing next to josh and i said you need to see this. i show him my phone and he was blown away. >> reporter: it turns out josh turner inspired ryan. but after hearing his story, taking another picture with him, ryan actually really inspired turner as well. >> he said i inspired him to lose weight and he's lost over 100 pounds. [ cheers and applause ] >> look at this guy. [ cheers and applause ] >> what's it look when you get the shout out from the stage that he's kind of acknowledging you? >> he mentioned that his concerts aren't always about music but, you know, making a difference, and he surely made a difference in my life. >> reporter: listen we all have our struggles, and often find inspiration in unusual places, but ryan is one of the lucky ones. he reached an amazing goal and found out that his inspiration lived up to expectations for goodness sake. i'm bill anderson. ♪ turning now to your health. media mogul oprah winfrey is teaming up with craft heinz on a new line of soups and side dishes called oh, that's good. the comfort food line is set to be a healthy twist on classic comfort foods. the new product line will be available in grocery stores in october. a car wash owner in a remote town in chester county is floored by how many people are showing up at his businesses. it's not all of them are there to get their car washed. >> no they're not. they want to snap a picture in front of what's next door. fox 29 photojournalist bill rohrer has the story from elverson, chester county. that is so cool. >> reporter: we live life trying to find a direct route to happiness. [ laughter ] >> reporter: for rick fry that route ended up in the most unpredictable place. acre of land next to his please wash me car wash in elverson, pennsylvania. >> i never seen anything like this. >> reporter: tiny yellow flowers. >> thousands of thousands of sun flowers. >> reporter: got the attention of folks from as far as four and a half away. just to take pictures. >> okay. here we go. sunflower. >> that's cute. i'll bet you i've taken 15,000 pictures without any question at all. >> reporter: but where do all these pictures go? >> um, instagram. you're kidding. >> i'm 53 years old. i'm hundred% up on social media and how it works. i now now what the word viral means. >> reporter: seven years ago, rick wanted to boost business at his please wash me car wash. so he got the idea to plant sun flowers seeds in hopes of drawing in a few more customers once they bloomed. >> this is so nice of you. >> reporter: first year the sun flowers have caught on. >> they just keep coming and coming and coming and coming. >> reporter: in trust just 11 days rick believes over 60,000 people have come to visit. >> i understand why. it's gorgeous. >> bees are all over them. >> look at this. look how beautiful this is. for whatever reason, bill, it just seems to work. for 15 minutes everybody here can get along and do something, there's no politics, there's no religion, there's no race, there's no nothing. that's pretty neat gift to be able to give somebody. >> reporter: perfect gift is the back drop for a new beginning. >> it's not like your every day locate. >> reporter: brook and dan have plans to marry in april. >> makes for pictures that will defnitely be memorable. >> reporter: three week old peyton dreams of life's end less possibility. >> i don't have any words for that. i get to feel that all day every day for couple every weeks and then i don't know. i have four kids my own. i never got to bring them to a place like this. i wish i would have. guy washing cars trying to make little more business and this overcame that by a lot. and just makes me lot happier than washing a car n elverson, bill rohrer, fox 29 news. >> beautiful. >> i know. quite a sight. it's unreal. sean brace here now with a look at what's coming up in sports. >> my car needs to be washed. >> that's the place to go. >> you're newly married. >> love it. let's talk sports. big piece ryan howard, yeah he's getting another chance to make it back to the biggs. i'll tell you with which team eagles quarterback carson wentz actually drove jordan matthews to the airport after he was traded. but wentz disappointed with the move? hear from the quarterback next in sports. when you see an intruder, you act fast. boo. so do we. raid kills roaches seven times faster than the next leading ant and roach spray. seven times faster?
