so certainly a shock to the system and nothing like what we were dealing with a couple of weeks ago with temperatures in the 70s. so as we talk a little bit about what you'll wake up tomorrow morning, 8am looking at 30 degrees in philadelphia. 29 degrees in trenton. making it the coldest in eight months but coming up, we will talk about that roller coaster ride, the up tick in the temperatures and what it means for your thanksgiving. guys, back to you. >> talk to you soon, scott. two developing stories we're following right now. the first, two men are dead after getting shot in the head in the city's kensington neighbor. it happened on the 3600 block of jasper street a little past 3:00 this afternoon. investigators say someone shot the two inside a home on that street. police tell us the shooter got away and they have not found weapon involve. the other developing story out of nicetown. sky fox over the 4200 block of bristol street where police say a man was shot several times. he died at temple university hospital. so far no arrests. no suspects. we're on top both of these stories. we'll bring you more as the news breaks. happening now, an issue that has sparked debate around the globe. hitting close to home tonight. what's going to happen to millions of refugees leaving war human rights abuses and lack of opportunity in syria. it's a question that has sparked heated he can changes from eastern europe to here in the us. president obama says he wants to welcome at least 10,000 refugees and pennsylvania governor tom wolf says he supports that plan. what does that mean for allentown, pennsylvania? >> the city is already home to a strong community of syrian-americans. fox 29 weekend's karen hip was there as officials talked about their plans today. >> reporter: allentown has very large syrian-american population. about 5,000. most of these people came decades ago as far back as the 1800s. most of them are american and most of them are christian. now they're helping with nine refugee families from syria and today in a massive show of support lots of leaders here gathered to push back against syrian hate. tears the faces of syrian refugees in our area. the twins are three and a half. of the big boys five, eight, 10 and 12. their father is two too afraid more family will be killed in syria if he's identified. he's already lost 10 cousins in the violence. >> see bombs just coming down i guess from the explosion. his door blew up and he decided then he had to take the kids and go. >> reporter: through a translator he said he fled three years ago to jordan. >> he said he was -- >> today in show of support leaders in allentown democrats and republicans pushed back against recent hate and fear. syrian-american community has a long history here and they are proud to have them as neighbors and friends and colleagues. >> their lives have been destroyed. they've lost their homes. they've lost their families. they've lost their businesses. and we have a responsibility i believe as the most wealth yesterday country on the face of the planet to help these individuals. >> ask what jesus would do? i k what moses what do? wawa muhammed would do. >> i think that's pretty rhetorical. i think we all know the answer to that. >> reporter: nine families have come to allentown since march. it's possible another nine or so may join them. a lutheran refugee program asking for donations and compassion. >> we are really truly blessed in allentown to have a great leader here that are courageous and do the right thing. >> if you are interested in donating we have the information right on our website fox29.com. from allentown, i'm karen hepp, fox 29 news. >> developing news tonight out of belgium where security remains tight after an eminent threat against its capital. brussels subway system and schools are still shut down after a terror alert. today the prime minister announced that alert will remain at its highest level for one more week. streets usually full of shoppers and those going out to eat are now home to soldiers and military equipment. the city will stay shut down for another day. but early wednesday, schools and subways are starting to begin reopening. prime minister charles michelle says that's a signal that hopefully live will return to normal soon for the city. >> back here at home 23 months in pri ton 18-year-old in bucks county who ran down and killed a bensalem teen walking to her schoolbus. michael scully was driving recklessly last night when he passed a stopped schoolbus and hit 16-year-old minute net. absolutely nothing super about this couple dressed as super heroes. both mr. inn kennel and a --, incredible an woman dressed like her wife. police say when the driver confronted mr. incredible attacked punching the man in the face and running off. the driver ended up at the hospital for a cut on his face so if you remember this couple from halloween, please give philadelphia police a phone ca call. philadelphia's mayor elect says the city's public schools can improve without a huge influx of cash from harrisburg. jim kenney back from road trip to cincinnati where community stake holders reached out to cash strapped schools with offers of help. universities, hospitals and private companies have the resources and often the willing notice provide for local schools. the key says kenney is to request that help with one clear voice. he says state lawmakers will not solve all the district's problems. >> we can't just wait for super man. we have to fix this. we're getting this stuff done and let the nay sayers stand back and nay say because they'll do it any way. just move forward. >> kenney would like to see the local medical community set up dental clinics and set up eye scams in schools. >> how low can you go, iain. >> how low? nooooo. well, chevy has a better way, with black friday deals all month long. that's a great idea. what if you could get up to twenty percent cash back when you bought it? bam. twenty percent back? that's awesome. it's black friday. find your tag and get cash back for 20% of the msrp on select 2015 vehicles in stock. or, get zero percent financing for seventy-two months on 2015 silverado light duty models. cool time to go shopping. ♪ swiped right off their front porch. a memory quilt made by a grieving mother to remember her son who has passed on. karen dellmon nikau of edison, new jersey, lost her son robert a year ago to remember the honor student and graduate of valley forge military college she put together some of her sons favorite t-shirt and send them off to get stitched together as memory quilt. it arrived at her home last week but before the family could bring the package inside, someone stole it. >> what are you going to do with 90 t-shirts. it's something that you can just keep in one place and just have different memories from each shirt when you look at them and hopefully, you know, have good memories. >> aww the family says that they hope the thief will realize how important this memory quilt is to them and please return it. they are offering a reward to get it back. a twist of fate mistake on craigslist may have saved one woman's life. >> a woman with kidney failure getting new kidney from a complete stranger fox 29's jennifer joyce joins us live from the hospital of the university of pennsylvania tonight. jennifer, this story has going to pull at your who are strings. >> reporter: iain, talk about a towered to the week of thanksgiving. to really count your blessings and put life into perspective. we met nina and glenn today. they say they're feeling a little bit nervous ahead of neck week's transplant but they are so excited about what is about to transpire. >> i can't wait. i can't wait to get there and not to have dialysis. >> after a year and a half of suffering through kidney failure 32-year-old nina of atlantic county is getting a transplant from a stranger. >> i told them i wanted to meet with them and tell them a story. >> glenn a contractor from south jersey connected with the family on craigslist. he was looking for construction materials last summer when this popped up. an ad post beside her husband kay asking for a kidney to save his wife's life. >> because i had put a similar ad in the newspaper once upon a time. >> reporter: he says the kidney ad accidentally misplaced under construction materials had to be the work of his late wife jessica. she died of kidney failure in 2011. >> i feel like she's been my angel kind of showing me the way and i know for sure she showed me their ad. >> reporter: the family was stunned to find out, a, calderbank was a match and b, he was rig to sign up for the surgery. now they're at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania preparing for next week's transplant. >> i was very surprised, first, that there was a really a person, stranger who would do that for me, because there was nobody in my life who would that for me to save me. >> calderbank is self-employed and will be out of work after next week. the family set up gofundme account to help cover his expenses while he's recovering. >> there's no way i could repay glenn. there's no way i can thank him enough for what he's doing. >> reporter: calderbank and the family are hoping this story sends a message. >> just want people to maybe find the courage to help someone whether they know them or not. pass it on. >> reporter: it's a message that there is a lifesaver in all of us. and we've posted that go monday fee page on our website fox29.com if you'd like to check it out. iain? >> all right, great story, jenny. thank you so much. let's get back to your fox 29 weather authority now. that cold weather scott it was bothering me today was the wind. >> oh, yeah it made it feel even colder. we had wind chills in the teens and 20s for most of the areas specially earlier in the day. but take a look at what we also had far north and west. you can see that fetch the wind coming over parts of the lakes well to the north producing a little bit of lake effect snow so reports of some flurries in sections of carbon and monroe county even moving toward parts of the lehigh valley but as we expand the view pretty quiet conditions across much of the nation. so your tuesday looking pretty good for travel and also wednesday one of the busiest travel days of the year. not too many problems. we'll talk more about that coming up. but take look at the chem cher trend. high temperatures today in the low 40s. but look at that up tick as we move toward the latter part of the week in particular thanksgiving and black friday. those temperatures will be in the 60s. maybe even flirting with 70 degrees by friday. so quite a temperature turn around ahead. but it's chilly right now. 27 degrees currently in sections of the pocono mountains. 34 right now in atlantic city. 34 in millville. the warm spot 40 right now in philadelphia. but take look at what it feels like when you factor in those winds not bad as earlier but most of the area feeling like the upper 20s so colder conditions continuing to move in overhead. tomorrow morning's low right around 30 degrees. will be the coldest we've been in the in about eight months. so you have to head back to march 26th and we're looking at temperatures tomorrow in the city around 30 but look at the suburbs. in the 20s. so definitely bundle up if you're stepping outdoors early tomorrow morning with those wind chills in the 20s. and then by the afternoon, still below the average for this time of year in the low 50s. only 48 degrees for the high temperature with less wind. so as we move ahead to the middle and latter part of the week high pre pressure will set up shop for our area. so that will mean dry, quiet conditions for your travel plans but as he move towards sections of the midwest and the planes watching out for a few problems maybe some clouds and showers in dallas as well as st. louis in chicago and then a little unsettled as we move into sections of california. that el nino playing a factor as far as thanksgiving weather, though, looking good for parades and turkey trots. 55 degrees by noon. that's already above average and then look at the afternoon. 62 degrees doesn't get much better. last thanksgiving we had a trace of snow. >> i remember that. >> in parts of the area. nighttime. >> that's my secret. >> you can buy them at the store. >> they're something nice about growing -- >> let's get out to how war at the novacare complex. any tomatoes out there, howard. >> we don't have any more people on facebook we can hear from. >> of course we do. do you have time. >> tomatoes, oranges, peppers. whatever. all right. yesterday's eagles game was a four letter word. ugly. that was the word. we'll talk about the injuries that lead into thursday's game and also will chip kelly make any changes? >> i think it's more mental. i don't think, you know, not many times we line up and just getting beat. one person here doesn't do their job or tries to over compensate for somebody else's job and good teams take advantage of that. >> all right. so what's the problem?
