to that young man. let's get out to shawnette wilson in camden county with the story. >> reporter: chris and dawn, what i learned tonight 28-year-old brett mosque was killed on the job he has worked for the past 10 years. as you just heard, his mother could barely speak as she begged for help finding her son's killer. >> somebody noes something. somebody scene something. >> reporter: the murderer of row chill smith's son is cutting her to the core. >> somebody to go and shoot him in the head and kill my son. >> reporter: she got the call tuesday that someone had shot her twenty eight-year-old son brett moss near one of his jobs work sights in camden. investigators don't know why. >> my son is kind and loving. >> reporter: it happened around 12:00 o'clock tuesday afternoon. brett who lived in levittown work as scrap metal collector for company called emr and had been assigned to work this yard near 27th and saunders streets. he'd only been reporting there for two weeks. he was alone when rochelle says someone dragged him out of the site of security cameras into this alleyway next to the yard and shot him. he died at the hospital the very next day. >> the neighbors were elderly and they said he was sitting next to them and talk with them when the workload was light. they all loved him. >> reporter: brett graduated from kutztown university way degree in social work. he played football well enough rochelle says to go pro but an injury side lined his career before it could really take off. >> he even got picked up by the jacksonville jaguars and he got a knee injury. >> reporter: rochelle says what her son was most proud of was being a single father to his eight-year-old daughter kylie who still doesn't know her dad is gone. >> he took her swimming. he took her everywhere. had birthday parties. anything, you know, sat down, told taught her to read and write. he was good father. >> reporter: and back here live rochelle says she's offering a $5,000 reward for 70. 75 along 95. to the south we'll be into the mid 70s but the humidity really starts to increase. we hit 90 degrees this could be the start of a heat wave. but it won't last long. by sunday, we're minutes, dave, thanks. police in new castle county, delaware on the hunt for a man who burst into an elderly woman's home. the home inn vague happened just afternoon today on the 700 block of hurfville road in the he'd din ridge community. authorities say 81-year-old answer add knock on the door and a man forced his way in and roughed her up. he ended up stealing some items inside and taking off in red car. home own are in was treated at the scene for minor injuries. the fbi working with philadelphia police tonight to track down a bank robber take close look. authorities say this guy hit up the hyperian bank on the 100 block of west girard avenue this morning. he gave a teller a demand note and got away with cash. police believe he hit another bank about 40 minutes earlier on north fifth street. any information call police. in delaware, a judge ruled today that a 16-year-old girl charged with the death of another 16-year-old will not be tried as an adult. the judge rejecting the prosecution's request ruling that the girl will be tried in family court on charges of criminally negligent homicide. now this all stems from an assault inside the bathroom at wilmington high's howard high school of technology. this was back in april. prosecutors say the 16-year-old repeatedly hit amy joyner francis in a pre-meditated attack. joyner francis a pre-existing heart condition and the medical examiner ruled the attack contributed to sudden cardiac arrest. happening now, health officials in camden county are urging caution tonight. they say a bat in haddon heights has tested positive for rabies. more concerning a man found the bat inside his home. he quickly called county health officials. >> now those officials are warning others in the county to be aware and to keep their families and pets safe. let's get straight out to joanne pileggi who's life for us in haddon heights. joanne? >> reporter: chris, dawn, we've actually seen a few bats flying around this park here in haddon heights. natural habitat of course, but there is real concern here after a bat flew into a home in this camden county community and then that bat testified positive for rabies. >> you do not want to expose yourself to this disease. >> reporter: cause for alarm in haddon heights after a homeowner discovers a bat inside the house. they did the right thing. >> definitely call animal control make sure they come and investigate so they can trap and test for this animal to see there has been exposure. >> reporter: the bat was tested and it was rabid. >> bats, raccoons all of those are rodents. so they are the most prevalent carriers of them. >> reporter: county health official say finding one rabid bat is serious. same with other rabid wildlife which typically acts strange when they're infected with rabies. >> if you see those kinds of animals in your neighborhood, the other thing you have to be concerned with your own pets. because they can also attack your pets and if your pets get bitten, if you do not keep up with your rabies shot, they can be at risk. >> absolutely that would concern me, yeah. especially with brand new baby. i would be definitely be worried about that for sure. >> reporter: health officials did not identify the family who found the bat in their home but they were advised to seek pre-emptive treatment just in case. news of the rabid bat spread quickly in town. >> there could be other bats that are infected as well, okay, yeah. yeah, that would definitely >> walk my dog every night, and in the park in haddon heights. i see bats. swoop down and come by us and i mean i don't mind them, but -- >> unless they have rabies. >> unless they have rabies. i don't know if they're rabid or not. >> reporter: that's the fear of course. you just don't know. that's why residents around here are being asked to be on the look out for wildlife that is acting strange. they're being told don't go near it, call police or call animal control. by the way, actual rabies cases are very rare, but lethal if they are not diagnosed and treated. chris? >> little creepy there joanne thank. philadelphia police arrested one man and looking for another in connection to the shooting death of an innocent man caught in the middle of the a gun fight. 25-year-old ford died last month when police say he was caught in the crossfire of two men shooting on the 5100 blog of germantown avenue. ford was killed as his three year old daughter was sitting in the back seat of that car. she was not hurt. well today police arrested 18-year-old jameel byrd facing murder charges. detectives are now trying to find 19-year-old saku monty. if you see him please call police. we're staying on top of a developing story tonight. and some terrifying moments he won't be charged host until he's released from the hospital. in california, firefighters are finally making progress against a wildfire burning in san bernardino county. authorities allowed more people to return to their homes today after they were evacuated as a precaution. nearly 100 homes were destroyed in the fire burning in the san bernardino national forest. the fire is now nearly their% contain. and health officials say miami's world famous south beach is the second location where people are contracting the zika virus on the us mainland. >> so far five cases are connected to and hit them with the shovel. police say she killed onsie gu gull. officers say they found the dad drinking alcohol on the beach. he's charged with endangering the well fire of a child. a new jersey transit bus driver has died after the bus he was driving slammed into another in newark, new jersey, killing a passenger. it happened this morning. police say the veteran driver at the wheel of the bus with no passengers inside hit a bus filled with passengers. 17 people are hurt. six of them are in critical condition tonight. people who were on board describe a very terrifying sce scene. >> i authorities are trying to figure out if the driver of the empty bus who had been driving for new jersey transit for 27 years may have run a red light. the fbi is now involved in the controversy surrounding philadelphia district attorney seth williams and his delay in reporting more than $160,000 worth of gifts. his spokesperson told the philadelphia inquirer the fbi questioned a number of district policy banning suspending kindergarten students that seems like common sense. >> i believe it's ridiculous because kids her age, they shouldn't get suspended. >> we want our children to be in school as much as possible, so any time they need to be at home in my opinion it's got to be for something, um, is terrible. report roar beginning this school year, the revised code of conduct no longer allows for suspending kindergarten students for reasons even the five-year-old should be able to understand. >> one thing that we know is, we can't teach young people if they're not in school. and at that age, removing a child from school then removes them from the opportunity to learn. >> reporter: it was almost unanimous among the people that i spoke to that five year olds learn very little from being suspended, but active visits told me it's still happens a l lot. >> there are about 400, um, and 500 suspensions of kindergarteners last year. about 1500 suspensions of first graders and 1900 suspensions against second graders. >> there are other things we can do to resolve conflict. >> reporter: dr. hite told me he agrees with parents and has wanted to end the policy for years. but unfortunately, it's just not as easy as it may seem. >> there's a great deal of training that had to take place prior to these young -- prior to us implementing such a policy. >> reporter: bill anderson, fox 29 news. health officials in philadelphia say that the fentanyl problem in the city is an epidemic and more needs to be done to resolve the problem. officials meeting at city hall today say in 2015 more people died of drug overdoses in the city than from homicides. the city health commissioner says fentanyl overdoses increa increased more than six fold from 2013 to 2015. the city's department of behavioral health says it's offering more treatment to addicts in hopes of curbing the drug abuse. >> we have a behavioral health access center which is at north philadelphia health system that operates 24 hours a day seven days a week. where people can go for an assessment and, um, they can be facilitated into treatment. >> health experts say fentanyl which is injected just like year. one day at a time people tell us, a slow but sure process. the convention center in downtown baton rouge the largest of many shelters that have been set up throughout the region. it's estimated that more than 4,000 people are still in shelters. one week since the rain started falling. that is down from the more than 11,000 who were taking advantage of these services a few days ago. fema is working to a range temporary housing more than 87,000 people have signed up for federal disaster assistance. meantime the state fire marshal's office going door to door conducting secondary searches of neighborhoods making sure there are no remaining victims and that everyone is accounted for. as the flood waters start to recede, people begin to clean out their homes and try and salvage what is
