Hillary clinton went down in the history books today. Secretary clinton tonight is officially the first woman president ial candidate of Major Political party in the us. The choice for democrats but did it not happen without some drama. Delegates from all us states and territories announced their delegates for both clinton and vermont senator Bernie Sanders. Clinton clinched the nomination about halfway through vermont deferred and went left and that is when sanders took the mike. I move that all votes, all votes cast by delegates be reflected in the official record and i move that Hillary Clinton be selected as the nominee of the Democratic Party for president of the United States. Despite senator sanders shoeff unity and support for clinton many of his supporters refuse to get on board and in fact dozens of bernie loyalists made their way outside the Wells Fargo Center to one of the large media tents to block the entrances and skits. Police held a secure line to make sure no one made it inside. Delegates to this convention have fond memories of the clinton years. I was in college when bill clinton became president of the United States. He was charismatic. He was fun. My parents were making money when bill clinton was in office, and they did a lot better than me and here i am. I live with them. Eight years of good growth. There was no wars. We understand that the marchers some of them are burning american flags and various political signs. Tears the reports that are coming in to us right now. One of many rallies that weve seen at the dnc has come to to town. These protests causing traffic jams and prompting police to step up security. Fox 29s Dave Schratwieser is live in south philadelphia tonight in the middle of all of it. Dave . Reporter iain, hundreds of protesters and demonstrators have now joined together here at broad and patison outside the at t septa station here. Must be close to around 2,000 protesters on the scene here. We just had a huge show by Highway Patrol officers here about two minuting a right before our live shot. They are keeping a close eye on this crowd. We have heard reports about those flags being burned. There is some report that they could try and breach the fence like some demonstrators tried to do yesterday. All of this being watched by police especially philadelphias bike police officers. As the socalled shut down the dnc march stepped off on broad street tuesday evening, protesters were accompanied by Philadelphia Police on bikes. Lots of them. Bike officers have been everywhere since dnc demonstrations kick off on sunday. Bikes are very mobile we can get get to places very quickly yeah, i think its working well for us. Reporter Police Commissioner richard ross says the bike officers are the back bone of the City Security plan when dealing with large and small scale protests and marches. Hundreds of officers on two wheels can be seen throughout the city. Men and women out there quite adapt at doing it, cant say enough about them. I didnt have a problem witness bike cops. To me the waves of police that are around here ive seen two or three waves beyond the crowds thats a little intimidating. Helicopter flying around is inn tim dating. Reporter tuesdays big march went on for miles with bike officers in front and taking up the rear close to thousand protests. The officers know how to keep their cool when confronted by protesters even in 109degree heat like monday. Theyre dealing with the heat. Theyre getting water. Keeping up with that. Everything going very well for us. It is not easy to pedal am at 0 miles an hour for sometimes a couple miles. Reporter bike officers were headily deployed in philadelphia by then commissioner john timoney during the rnc back in 2000. Mr. Ross and the officers supervisors have nothing but praise for this blue line of officers who never flinch. They do fantastic job. We will continue to use them extensively. We just want to let you know from Police Sources tonight i understand that not only his way patrol has just been added down here but three Emergency Response teams have also been brought in near the area here in case anything drops off. It has not at this point. There are some reports that some of these demonstrators want to try and go over the fenn like some of the Bernie Sanders folks did yesterday. Police say he was drunk when he smashed into another vehicle then hospital hopped the curb near 21st and jackson streets and then hit thee people on a sidewalk. One woman died according to police mc gold rick ran from the scene of the crash a family then called 911 to report what happened. Right now investigators are trying to track down two teenagers accused of carjacking a woman last night in south philadelphia. Police say as the woman was getting out of her car near front and morris streets two teen boys pointed guns at her and stole her car along with an ipad. Police later tried to stop the car in south West Philadelphia where the team driver crashed into eight parked cars. Both teens managed to run off. Police say they found two guns inside the car. Tonight Upper Darby Police are trying to fine the person who they say shot and killed a man overnight. The Fatal Shooting happened just before 1 00 this morning on the 7200 block of walnut street. Witnesses say some sort of dispute between two people led to the violence. Police want to talk with the person who left the scene. Investigators believe he was wearing black clothing and a white hat. It was back to business tonight at the Montgomery Mall in north wales after fire crews evacuated the building earlier today. The mall says it lost power about 10 00 oclock this morning, and it caused a slight odor of smoke inside. The Montgomery Township Fire Department evacuated everyone as a precaution.
