fundraising to put up. the damage is more than $15,000. good evening, i'm lucy noland. i'm iain page. now the vase on to fix it. fox 29's chris o'connell is live outside that building in holmesburg tonight. a lot of disappointed familiar tolls night, chris. >> reporter: there sure are, queen. what you're seeing behind me basically results in tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage here at the holmesburg boys club. this peace of roofing behind me it is so big it's literally have the size of a football field. ripped from the building this afternoon leaving kids without a club and volunteers scrambling to make repairs. on most nights you'd find kids playing hockey at the holmesburg boys club. not tonight. >> kind of like home to us. i mean -- >> reporter: now see it like this. >> it stinks. >> reporter: instead of coaching parent volunteers spent this time cleaning and nasty afternoon storm brought heavy winds that ripped a huge layer of rubber roofing right from the building. >> the wind made such a noise i've never heard before. like such a swoosh noise and we saw trash cans fly. >> reporter: from sky fox you could see how winds peeled away the roofing from the club on 7700 block of ditman street. rain came pouring in flooding the hockey floor and shutting down the club until further notice. >> your heart just stops. it's devastating all the time and people put in here volunteer work. nobody gets paid here. >> reporter: the roof was bear al-year-old. but took years to raise the money to buy it. >> what tomb am i going to do with all the kids have i in here. all my volunteers that help me out to do what i got to do here it's like starting all over again. >> reporter: the damage couldn't come at a worse time. club is now scrambling to make temporary repairs before scheduled tournament here this weekend. meanwhile, roofing contractors came in late tonight to start what will be a long and expensive repair. a repair we're told insurance will not cover. >> obviously, we're going to need a lot of help to get back up and run bag we're non-profit. >> reporter: we just got a preliminary report from that roofer tonight. he says basically the tire roof needs to be replaced along with the insulation. he said the price tag may be $50,000 or more. it will be a tough hit for this club here. they have started a gofundme page to help raise funds from the community for repairs. we have a link to that on our website. iain? >> just devastating, chris, thank you. storm also doing damage in gloucester city high school. the scoreboard was knocked down and it looks like the board was bent badly. signs across the area fell victim to today's pierce winds. check out this picture from matt henry it shows a sunoco sign that blew over on route 352 in glenn mills, delaware county. >> on your radar that storm it's finally gone. looking at reading on the top in south philadelphia on the bottom. getting chilly after hours of pounding rain at times, kathy orr, and you're track wagon could be a slick drive in the morning. >> absolutely. temperatures are falling fast. you can see as we go back about 12 hours ultimate doppler the storm blowing through between about an 11 a.m. and about 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon with a squall line of showers and thunderstorms some of those as they move through philadelphia obviously were severe with gusts to 65 miles an hour. that's close to hurricane gusts. right now in philadelphia you can see in the poconos temperatures in the 20s. in the city 38. 40 in trenton but the cold is coming in from the west and there is a little bit of wind chill you can see on the platt bridge shaking a bit witness winds gusting to about 20 miles an hour. so in the morning, use caution. temperatures below freezing. there will be some icy patches. if anything looks glossy or looks wet, it is ice. the sun will be returning. so we'll be drying things out tomorrow it will be breezy so expect some wind chills in the 20 come the morning with westerly winds at about 10 to 15 miles an hour. temperatures will be on their way up for the second half of the month. we'll talk more about that with your seven day forecast coming later in the broadcast. >> all right, kathy thanks. moving to wilmington to make sure you stay ahead of the weather when the fox 29 news app. you can see live radar and get alerts sent to your phone search for it in the apple or google play stores. >> a to to a developing story s. bloomingdale's outlet store at liberty place is the scene. police say nine teenagers wearing ski masks walk into the store around 7:30 tonight. they grabbed at least 20 bears of jeans and took off. they ran east on chestnut street. investigators say those jeans are worth about $2,000. a woman is threatened thrown to the floor and robbed inside a local deli. tonight the search is on for the gunman. police say the robber got away with the woman's handbag an lot more. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live at philadelphia police headquarters tonight. dave? >> reporter: iain, police tonight still searching for that armed robber who not only knock the woman to the floor, he took all of her belongings, even stole her car. tonight police tell us this was a very dangerous situation and it could have happened to anyo anyone. >> i didn't know. >> reporter: store owner wasn't sure what to think when he saw a man e his store and throw his arms around a female customer. a second or two later he her the woman scream, she had been robbed and turns out the guy with the big hug also had a gun. >> the lady shed he rob her. i take a look on the cam ran i see it. >> it's very dangerous situation. >> reporter: it happened inside the angel spirit deli on rising sun avenue in olney. as surveillance cameras rolled, the suspect walked into the store and grabbed the 22-year-old woman at the counter then through her to the floor. >> he announced a robbery. she immediately dropped her purse and her keys to her vehicle. >> robber scooped up the woman's belongings along with her cell phone and took off. police say as the suspect fled the scene, he quickly located the victim's black honda accord and drove off in it. >> she thinking she's getting a hug. next thing you know a gun is pulled on her. of course she'll drop everything to get her car took that's ridiculous. >> customers sign the store on tuesday told fox 29 there are few if any problems here. because the owner has cameras everywhere. >> i never seen people get stuck up for $20, a phone, sneakers. >> concern for your customers when that happen. >> yeah, that's why i put surveillance camera rah. >> the owner installed 28 surveillance camersurveillance t proof glass to protect his customers and himself. he's hoping someone recognizes the suspect and turns him in. >> yeah, i hope so. >> i really hope they get the guy, man. justice served. >> reporter: now police have not -- still not located the victim's stolen car. they are looking at other cases to see if this suspect may have been involved in other armed robberies. lucy? agreed to pay $1.7 million to install the sidewalks from dorm road to bristol oxford valley. but several townships surrounding the stretch have to agree to maintain them before they can be put in. maintain the sidewalks before it can move forward. they can vote this thursday. in middletown township, shawnette wilson fox 29 news. a woman whose body ended up inside a recycling bin in allentown died a violent death. police say someone had shot her. the bin was in parking lot on east tillman street. an autopsy performed today shows the woman died from several gunshot wounds. investigators are still working to identify her. they say she was asian between 18 and 30 years old. former miss new jersey and 2014 miss america pageant is in critical condition tonight after a car crash. this tweet coming from southern new jersey today where kara mccoelom lump is a reporter. new jersey state police say she was on route 55 in pitts grove township last night when her car spun off the highway and hit two trees. she was not wearing her seat belt and may have been driving too fast for the conditions on the wet road. they do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor. >> gunfire on a busy street in center city. 15th and low just the scene ton night a 3884 old man is in critical condition. a lot of questions remain about what happened and why it happened. fox 29's bruce gordon has been speaking with people who are shaking up right now. >> reporter: by midday heavy rains had washed away the trail of blood at 15th and locust but could not erase the sense that once again, violence had happened. and could happen at any time at anyplace. >> oh, wow, that is so unfortunate. >> kind of makes you feel a little nervous to be outside. it's usually safe to be around here 1:00 o'clock in the morni morning. >> it doesn't surprise you? >> no. >> reporter: just before 1:00 a.m. police say a 38-year-old south philadelphia man and his 50-year-old friend were standing in front of the kosi restaurant when a man approached and fired a shot. 38-year-old was hit in the arm tried to run away and was scooped up by police and rushed to hahnemann hospital. >> the scene consists of one large caliber shell casing and a lot of blood, a blood trail from the victim. our victim did lose a lot of blood. >> reporter: security camera footage from store on 15th street shows what appears to be two men running from the scene. it is not clear whether they were the victims or simply bystanders. the incident was originally probed as a robbery attempt stranger attacking a random victim. but a police source tells fox 29 the shooting victim and his companion each had 19 prior arrests for offenses ranging from drugs to theft to assault. police spokesman lieutenant john stanford -- >> not quite clear as to you know if there is any background f there is any type of history or any, again if there's a dispute that happened just moments prior to this incident taking place. all the things that they're looking into or if in fact this a robbery. we don't know. >> reporter: that shooting victim is expected to survive. not much of a description of the gunman masked as he was. but police in this area have scowered the best of the security video from the stores and businesses along this stretch. they hope it will give them a better idea of what happened in the moments leading up to this shooting. in center city, i'm bruce gordon fox 29 news. new jersey governor chris christie talks about his run for the white house just before unveiling his 2017 spending plan for the garden state. budget projects $800 million surplus. the revenue growth expected to come from growing income and state sales tax revenues. today presentation was the governor's first public appearance since dropping out of 27-year-old mother tried to leave the store with more than $1,500 worth of goods. authorities say when store security brought them into an office, that mom ran off leaving her little girl behind. chance to steal your identity. anti fraud experts say the bar code hide information about you, your name, frequent fire number and other identifiers and experts say armed with the right information a the north and west. in allentown 30 at 6am the poconos 26. reading 28. in philadelphia it will be around 32. the good news the overall trend is to build a ridge in the east. you can think of it as rising dome of warm air just building up from the south. the closer you get to those yellows and oranges and reds the warmer you get. it will be decent over the weekend with temperatures rising into
