abandoning him with just a blanket an bible. alone for days before a hospital worker just happened to walk right past him. the victim's mother now charged with itemed murder. good evening i'm iain page. i'm lucy noland. brad sattin spoke to that good samaritan who saved the young man. brad he almost did not see him. >> reporter: lucy i'll tell was. so much could have gone wrong here. the good news is this 21-year-old man is recovering here at chop at least he is still alive. thanks to that good samaritan who had an acted on a nagging feeling. >> i see everything. i do all kind of work. >> reporter: you've never seen anything like this. >> never in my life. >> reporter: anderson has been a custodian at mercy hospital for 19 years and never could have guessed he'd end up saving a life after work on friday night. it was nice night he took the long way home following a train at cobbs creek park. >> i saw two deers. i grabbed my cell phone. wow, let me get these pictures i can show my grandkids. >> reporter: but the deer went off he followed them off the beaten path. >> i saw a wheelchair down under here like. i look, wow that's a brand new wheelchair. okay. i missed the deer. i was walking back up. i saw nice little package. >> reporter: he thought it strange the back catch was completely covered and needly bundled and had sticks on it in the shape of a cross. >> covered up. i used my feet don like that. just like that. something jump up. whoa. >> reporter: he figured it was an animal he walked on home but he couldn't let it go. >> it was two pieces of sticks like this, a cross. it was puzzling me. >> reporter: he told his step daughter who called police and when tow got back to the woods and opened the blanket they found a bible and a man. >> i never saw his face. i just walked away. when they said he's alive i said thank you lord. >> reporter: this mother accused of of a ban doing her son in the woods. her son is a quadriplegic with cerebral palsy and can't communicate. anderson who happened to be chasing a couple dear to an area he other never would have been finds it hard to believe it's a coincidence. >> i saved a life and that's a very good thing. >> reporter: sure s fitch roy anderson is from gentleman ma kay. he moved here to the united states back in 1974. he believes his life will never be the same and he is hoping one day to actually visit this man when he is out of the hospital. iain? >> all right brad, thank you. you saw it first on fox police back at the home of convicted killer abortion dr. kermit gosnell. police sources telling fox 29 the crime scene unit is looking into remains found at the home on north 32nd street in mantua today. l and i made the discover while sealing off the property there's no occasion yet the remains are human but police are still investigating. gosnell of course was convicted back in may of 2013 of murdering three babies born alive in abortion clinic. he was acquitted in a fourth baby's death. gosnell is current spending live in jail. and firefighters in bucks county getting a fire at an apartment complex under control quickly. skyfox over the scene tonight on joseph road in warrington. fire broke out around 7:30. it took firefighters less than 30 minutes to get it under control. officials say no one was home when the fire broke out. no word yet on any injuries or a cause. developing to night the search for the driver who struck and killed a four-year-old boy. police are now looking for this suv captured by surveillance video that shows the entire tragic incident. fox 29's shawnette wilson is in king says seng tonight. shawnette wawa do we know about the driver. >> reporter: police are giving more detailed information about the car and the driver. tonight they believe it is a black custom made suv. they are hoping that the public will give them information that will lead them to that vehicle and the woman who they say was driving it. >> this is sad. i got kids out here. i have nephews and nieces not too far from his. my heart went out to the family. >> reporter: kim has five children of her own. she's deeply saddened by the death of a four-year-old boy identified by police as abdul wilson. he was the victim avenue hit-and-run caught on surveillance on south 57th street in kingsessing. >> it's absolutely crazy out here. some people just drive through and just don't stop. >> reporter: this memorial formed near where it happened just before sunset around 6:30 yesterday. police reminding drivers that this is the time of year to be extra cautious. even today on a dreary day kids were out everywhere. >> this time of year we're going to have these youngsters, young kids it's nitens out springtime they're going to run in the street but people have responsibility to stop. it's usually just an accident. >> surveillance video and witness information gave police a good lead. the car may be a black limited edition ford edge between 2011 and 2014. >> the fair hill section of the city on the 2700 block of mascher street. cops say a driver hit a two-year-old boy and 19-year-old mom and left them lying in the street. they're looking for a white acura or infinity. doctors released the mother from the hospital earlier tonight. her two-year-old little boy remains in critical condition. on your radar the rain is moving out. here's a live look from the avenue. now the person in the front passenger seat opened fire. 30-year-old man told police bullets pierced his parked car. amazingly no one hurt. police brutality protest nearly gets out of hand in new york city. demonstrators taking to the streets to rally against police killings of unarmed people. but the demonstration gets physical on the brooklyn bridge and almost turned violent. police had to step in to move people walking through traffic during the afternoon rush hour. that's when the protesters began throwing debris at officers. several people had to be taken in to custody the march continued into brooklyn. the march in new york city just one of many across the country today. dozens of people seen here rallying in front of city hall in san francisco. protesters calling for an end reserve sheriffs deputy turned himself in charged with shooting and killing an unarmed black man. 73-year-old robert bates faces sector degree manslaughter charge. he shot 44 eric harris in the back revel casino has a new feature tonight tonight. three portable generator trucks going to power the building which went dark on thursday. florida developer glenn straub says two main generator trucks and a backup unit arrived today and should be up in running by thursday. he bought the shuddered casino week ago but the on site power plant cut utility service two days later. a lawsuit between straub and acr energy partners is now in federal court. delaware state police working to catch the men responsible for a string of robberies in new castle county. they say one man approached cashier's for the man who pulled a gun on a philadelphia taxi driver. the shooting happened back on april 1st near 55th and lancaster avenue in overbrook. police say after getting a ride the passenger got out of the car and walked away without paying. police say when the driver asked for money the man pulled out a handgun. the driver says as he drove away he heard a single gunshot that missed him and the taxi. rowan university police officers now have something no other university officers have in new jersey. the school is the first in the state to arm its campus force with body cameras. fox 29's dawn rowan university glassboro and stratford campus police are now wearing body cameras. strapped on their chest recording their encounters were problems arise. >> there's a lot of hear say everybody says, everybody says that, but the camera never lies. it tells the truth. >> reporter: 34 officers now trained in wearing the high-tech equipment. the university unveiling details of the program that went into effect monday. >> when the officer is recording you have 130-degree view, all right, it records sound and it's closest to the cam rat lense itself is kloss zest to the human eye as public. >> reporter: they chose body cameras over dash cams for economic reasons and because they can get up close and personal. university officials showing this video of a drug arrest to make their point. >> slow motion watch the officer -- punches the officer right in the face. you would have never seen that piece of evidence without the camera. >> reporter: when an officer finishes the shift the footage is downloaded at a docking station f an arrest is made or charges brought the footage dropped into evidence for court proceedings. most students think it actually benefits them. >> because then if they say something happened that we don't think happened, then you can go and check the cameras and see what actually happened. >> all you see on facebook now is people sharing videos of police beating up people and doing the wrong thing anything they can do to prevent that would be good. >> reporter: at least one student we talked says she thinks the cops wearing cameras might back fire. >> i definitely think it might take students act out a little more just because like, oh, yeah, i know you're wearing one so you can't do this or you can't do that. >> the officers know they're on film. the accountability professionalism will be there. >> reporter: officers must notify the public they're wearing a body camera when entering private areas like a residence hall. the department of public safety for the university says the officers can view the body cam video but they cannot alter it any any way. five year body camera program costing rowan $95,000. dawn timmeney, fox 29 news. a large cargo ship having some problems in the delaware river overnight. the explorer ran around near the tacony-palmyra bridge. coast guard waited for high tide this morning. then used a tugboat to pull the freighter loose. no one was hurt and the ship was not damaged. governor chris christie is proposing big changes to social security ahead of what could be a run for president. the possible gop candidate speaking in one of those key primary states new hampshire today. christie owes wants to push back the age of eligibility for social security and medicare. even eliminate them for people making $200,000 or more a year. it's part of a plan he says would cut deficits by $1 trillion in 10 years. the governor was later asked about a possible run for president and his answer sure sounded a lot like someone running for president. >> i've governed in a very difficult place that looks much more like washington d.c. than anybody else has governed. i feel with a difficult legislation every day for the 5.5 years and word with them to forge compromises to get things done. >> christie says he'll make a decision about a possible run for president in may or june. fox 29 will host the next is the host and i'm the moderator. a small problem into a major mess on west philadelphia street. what starred as a minor pothole quickly turned into this. the growing menace leaving children cars and everybody else in danger. fox 29's bruce gordon talked to angry neighbors who want something done. >> reporter: no it's not the grand canyon. but it's a pretty good approximation. every growing sink hole at 55th and media that just like the real canyon has visitors talking. >> i think it's horrible. it's an accident waiting to happen. >> what began several weeks ago as a small depression in the street has now collapse flood a nearly 100 square foot crater several neighbors said they've reached out to city hall with little action. >> this is hell, man. it started off like this here. i walked the dog here every day. start off a little small thing. big, bigger bigger. >> brian sheaf was doing renovation work near this intersection monday night when the sink hole nearly swallowed a woman's to the city's street department and water department. it turns out it's a water department project. a broken storm sewer inlet that must have flooded out and washed away the soil be kneeling the layer reporter: meaning the city doesn't care? >> yeah, basically yeah. >> reporter: within two hours of my phone call, a small army of water department workers descend on the scene. first, a backhoe broke up a huge asphalt slab that sat above street grade. workers laid a dozen two by 10 across the hole with extra barricades surrounding the area. now it's safe until the actual repair work can begin. neighbors reaction -- >> fox 29, i know it's going get done. >> reporter: work is not done just yet. water department tells me their crews will be back out in the neighborhood on thursday to complete the repairs on that storm water inlet. the work will tie up the intersection for a time but when it's complete, that west philly neighborhood will lose its not so grand canyon. in the newsroom i'm car engulfed in flames by the side of the road. a mom and nine month old baby trapped in that burning car moments earlier. police say the driver of that suv lost control and crashed by the time emergency crews got there. a man and two-year-old had been able to make it out. but the mom and the baby were still trapped. officers pulled them to safety. but the mom is in critical condition. doctors do expect the baby to be okay. cell phone video capturing sound of alaskan airlines flight worker trapped inside the airplane's cargo hold. that's knocking. we first told you about this story last night when it happened on a flight from see at toll los angeles. the plane was only in the air for 14 minutes before it had to turn around after the pilot realized there was someone in the cargo hold. well it ended up being a baggage handler who apparently fell asleep. the faa is now investigating. they want to know how that manmade it into the cargo hold undetected while it isn't an faa rule cargo teams can do headcount on the ground before sending the plane on its way. also there are questions about how long the worker was on duty. alaska airlines says the plane took off after the workers shift should have ended. >> protesters took to the streets nigeria to honor the hundreds of young girls kidnapped by the terrorist group boko haram. nearly a year since the group kidnapped more than 200 girls from nigerian boarding school. they have kidnapped many many more since. protesters today wore red tape over their mouths symbolizing the stolen voices of the abducted schoolgirls. now in the initial kidnapping the terrorists abducted 300 girls but some have managed to escape. it's the latest potential scandal hitting the american security services overseas. new inspector general report revealing the dea agents were involved in some wild sex party parties with prostitutes. those parties in columbia also allegedly paid for by drug cartels going back as far as 2,001. none of the agents involved received any serious discipline. some lawmakers say they were shocked about some of the details to come out of the report. we apologize for not having that audio for you is likely behind four different bank robberies including three in the past week. security images from each of the four bangs allowed investigators to identify him. mitchell is on the run tonight. philadelphia police and the fbi are both after him. finishing touches are going up on a long awaited high school football stadium in bucks county county. what name to put on that new stadium had some choosing sides. as fox 29's chris o'connell tells thus controversial question took center stage in doylestown tonight. >> reporter: a push to dedicate new hoy school athletic stadium in honor of a former student and fallen soldier was being met with some resistance here at the central bucks school district. that was until a compromise was reached. his name is colby umbrell. >> not just an all star football football. not just a tough army ranger but somebody who cared about humanity. >> reporter: army lieutenant from doylestown killed in iraq in 2007. >> it was about keeping his memory alive. it was about people and future generations seeing his name up there and asking the question of, what was so special about this guy. >> reporter: many around here thought it would be fitting for the school's brand new stadium to be named after this local hero. after all he played football here. is the only alumnus killed in the line of duty. >> we had always felt that patriot stadium was the way to go. >> reporter: some say the honor of a stadium name should include all vets who served not just umbrell. stadium committee wanted to call the new facility patriot stadium. the school's nickname. >> and we don't want to try to be one who put one against the other. lieutenant umbrell was wonderful in the things did he. we don't want to take away from that. >> reporter: minutes before a vote comes a compromise. the central bucks school board naming the facility officially patriots stadium home of lieutenant colby umbrell field. umbrell's parents say their son's name will now live forever forever. they were in the crowd when that decision was made. >> yes. >> he was fine. he was popular. he had friends but he had an old soul. >> his mom and dad didn't want to be in the middle of a controversy but did want their son month be honored now he will his name will be on this field forever. >> some people say he wouldn't want it. i don't know. he deserve it. >> reporter: stadium will be dedicated before next football season and will now include a memorial wall to honor all of those alumni who served in the military. in doylestown, chris o'connell fox 29 news. the world meeting of families and the pope's visit to philadelphia little more than five months away. archbishop charles chaput tells us at first he did not want the honor. the city expects 2 million people to flock here for a chance to catch a glimpse of the pope. "good day philadelphia"'s mike jerrick sat down one and one with archbishop chaput today to talk about the preparations and he told mike in his first year in philly he learn the world meeting of families could be coming right here. >> i was discourage wagon i wrote. i didn't want it to happen because i had enough complexity in my life and we didn't have any money and i just couldn't imagine how we could become responsible for this. >> you wrote a letter and said don't -- >> i said we'll be happy to do it if you want to come but here are our problems. and i thought for sure that would mean they would choose another city. i think six weeks maybe two months later i got a letter and pope said, we're very happy to come. we'll be coming to philadelphia. so i changed my mind. >> well the communities in cape may as well as sussex county. but look at the clock. tomorrow morning we're looking at the return of the sunshine. winds out of the north tomorrow so it will be a cool start in the 40s but with that april sun angle temperatures will respond nicely. we'll top out near 70 tomorrow. thursday it's dry and then our next system next chance for rainfall this week will arrive as we move toward your friday. so friday morning we're looking at some showers around and that system could linger throughout the day on friday. but look at the temperatures tonight. low 40s in the suburbs. upper 40s in the city and then tomorrow sun and clouds, a nice april day. looking good. 69 for the high. and the seven day forecast shows thursday looks pretty good mid 60s and then friday that system, yeah, you can see. a chance for some showers temperatures top out in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. right now the weekend looks nice. we're looking at partly sunny skies saturday and sunday
