didn't realize how rough it is in the morning. >> it does get tough sometimes. >> well, regina, i guess maybe we do put on a happy face. >> we all get a little grumpy sometimes. i tease you all a lot. >> i didn't realize you all were taping effect that we were doing. - - everything that we were doing. >> it is important. i mean maryland won. >> regina, thank you for turning your question in. >> if you want to send a question in, go to the web site, myfoxdc.com and click on weather and we thank everyone who played along. >> fun stuff. >> i would agree. i think that was my favorite one. i loved it. >> tucker, you ought to win an oscar. >> that was some acting. >> terrible acting. >> and our producer, matt gaffney i don't think was actually asking in his part. thank you very much. we've got another one coming up during the 8:00 hour. >> good deal. we'll be right back. what -- (announcer) this sparkling glass was washed of finish t dry nse ent. the glass behind it wasn't. for sparkling dishes, try finish jet dry. we think you'll see the difference. most consumers do. finish. the diamond standard. you know, truck guys like to get the job done right. measure twice, cut once i always say. lemme give ya a hand there. did you know that this silverado has 315 horsepower? how about your f150? less. silverado's powertrain is backed for 5 years or 100,000 miles. yours? 40,000 miles less. don't blame the carpenter, blame the tool. now get 0% apr for 72 months, or during the chevy red tag event, use $2,000 holiday cash to get $5,500 total cash back on select 09 silverado vehicles in stock. everybody loves to buy new car this is time of year because they're out with the new models but sometimes we focus our attention on the wrong things. we're looking at the sticker price. you're saying no that isn't what we should look at when purchasing a new vehicle? >> not if you're a smart buyer. because you're right, people get themselves next to the new car and get the new car smell going on and look at how cool they'll look in the driveway but they never see the expected resale price and that is important because say for example that you bought this car, but you drive it for a couple of years and your family is growing, you want to make sure the car takes care of you economically as well. this is the 2010 corvette, that will take care of you from a performance perspective. but then 26 miles per gallon and a $50,000 price to start. and it appeals to the heart and the head and that's why it does well in our study. >> well you said there are several cars with a good resale value or hold their value for five years which is about how long most people keep a vehicle. so can yorun them down for us. what else is out there? >> here is the number one achiever. this is the toyota preus, this is the 2010 model. the previous model was a bit too small and not a big enough car for a typical family. they've addressed that with a new one. you're getting 50 miles per gallon and you're getting the style with the green car version and a solar panel built into the roof so you can run the fan to keep it cooler in the parking lot and then insid here you have a interior that george jet son would be glad to drive around in. you have a great family car and advanced. you're talking about a car that runs on battery alone up to 40 miles per hour. so it's an advanced choice without limitations or places that the typical family here will lose any value. >> and you have one more for us to run down? >> i want to make sure i mention this one. this is the lexus rx 350. lexus in the first generation of this vehicle introduced and designed the luxury suv class. this is the third generation. they have some of the nicest creature comforts. the best sound system and they defined and built this segment. you get all wheel drive, great space and utility, good fuel economy, 26 miles per gallon and they designed the segment and the new generation which is delivering the best value. the last vehicle, this is one you have to have a look at. i'm going to say a word you would never associate with value and that's taurus. the old one was damaged by ford. they used it as a rental car vehicle in their lineup and now the new one is really hot. i mean this one here has the v 6 engine with the power of a a v 8, a lot of style and space and it really allows us to know that ford is back. >> james, real quick, if you're planning on keeping your vehicle, are there things to do to make sure it keeps it's value. regular maintenance and that sort of thing? >> just be smart with it. do the regular maintenance, try not to eat in it which is tough to do. keep it clean, if you get any dents or scratches, get them fixed. it's just those little things that add up, because when you go to resell the vehicle you don't have to spend a ton of money to get it
