i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. it's finally here. today is the day we decide who will lead our country for the next four years. but with a few ballot problems in some parts of the state, some are concerned about making sure their vote counts. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in downtown st. pete. emerald, political experts say there shouldn't be any huge problems. but some of the groups worried most about issues could be the groups that sway the election. yes, the minority vote is huge in florida, the hispanic population could be the group that sways the election one way or the other in the state. black voters have some sway, too...but lower turnout in that group could lessen its impact. but while voters in these groups have the potential to have a huge impact on which way florida goes, they are the voters more likely to experience problems at the polls such as longer lines and waiting times. center often times, polls that serve mostly black and hispanic voters don't have the resources to keep the lines moving quickly...in some cases, that can discourage voters. our 10news political expert says lower voter turnout in the black community---whethe r it's because of long lines, less enthusiasm, or whatever the case might be---it could hurt democrats, who historically benefit from this voting block. for those worried about how long lines or other hiccups in the voters...experts say while everything's not perfect, the system still works. and coming up at 6:30, we'll take a look at what officials are doing to protect your vote here in florida. back to you after hitting a number of states monday...hillary clinton and donald trump made their final pitches overnight to voters in north carolina and michigan. the justice department is deploying hundreds of people in 28 the department's civil rights division and will help enforce federal voting rights laws. trump has repeatedly urged his supporters to monitor the polls.. claiming the election may be rigged. as one of the most divisive races comes to a close tonight, some cities are beefing up security at campaign events and polling places. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live at a voting center in davis islands. sarah, you checked with local polling places. are they stepping up security?
