prevented. - yeah, there's of course no way to really say if it could or not - but police did say this car you see mangled in the middle central avenue...was stolen after someone left the keys inside. - so police wonder if two of their own would have been spared from this terrible crash if someone had just taken a few seconds to take their keys out and lock the door. - and ironically, the st. pete officer and the tampa police officer inside were working together as part of a stolen car task force to help prevent the very thing that happened. - even worse...the officers weren't even pursuing this car. - they were looking for a different car and were heading to a place in st. pete where thieves are known to drop off stolen cars - that's when the car t-boned the undercover pickup truck
