yes, the biggest threat being russia. american officials are worried russia will use its cyber capabilities to try to disrupt the presidential election itself, possibly by releasing fake documents and creating bogus social media accounts designed to spread misinformation. the government is so concerned about a possible cyber hack, that the department of homeland security, justice department, fbi, pentagon, and cia have all staff to hunt for possible threats. and-- for the first time, hundreds of military and intelligence cyber experts who work out of top secret facilities, including underground bunkers, will be keeping our election safe from hackers. the fbi says they're worried russia will use its cyber capabilities to try to releasing fake documents and creating bogus social media accounts designed to spread misinformation. so, what does all that mean for you? one local u-s-f cyber security expert says don't let it change your mind about getting the good news is voting machines aren't connected to the internet, so there's only an extremely slim chance hackers could alter the outcome of today's election....but the big fear is they could try to hack the results and change what's sent search capabilities. here's what i'm digging into at 5-30. some polling places are stepping up security too. i checked in with the local supervisor of elections offices and found out what new york is doing to keep people safe-- where both clinton and trump will be tonight. ian... ian, there are lots of things to watch as we head into election night. these are a few states that prepare to head to polls today, hillary clinton and donald trump both made their final pitch to voters in key states overnight. clinton campaigned at a star-studded event with the help of celebrity friends lady gaga and bon jovi: trump held his own midnight rally in the battleground state of michigan, a democratic leaning state he's eyeing to turn red today. right now we know that trump will spend election night in a new york city hotel, not far from his trump tower hotel. clinton will also be in new york city, her headquarters will be at a convention center. some votes are already in this morning. fewer than 100 people in new hampshire became the first in the u-s to cast their ballots. in three new hampshire towns with midnight voting, trump 32 to 25 votes. and with just a couple of hours until the polls open here in tampa bay, we're looking into concerns some of you might have about the security of your vote. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live outside the polls in downtown st. pete. emerald, there have been some documented problems with mail-in ballots across the state that has some people being extra cautious. yes, there have been some issues in other places of the state where amendment 2 was left off of some voters' mail-in day for voters to have low confidence in whether their vote will be counted when they come to the polls. but for those that are concerned...or feel a little jaded about the election or that your vote just won't matter...the votes in florida are being watched very leaders our 10news political analyst says both major political parties have already hired a bunch of attorneys to be on the lookout for problems, so the chances of something going terribly wrong are slim. florida has 67 different counties, all with election supervisors who will be watching the races...so it's unlikely one party or entity will be able to change the entire election. but when we asked you all on facebook how confident you all were feeling about this going into the election today...cheryl santa said "i always felt cindy knight said "i voted a week ago and am getting calls that i haven't voted." so there's obviously some concern among some of you. and coming up at 5:30, we'll take a look at groups that are more likely to say they were disenfranchised at the polls, and how that could affect the election here in florida. back to you.
