history books. first lady, daughters sasha, malia and their grandmother, former minister bruno rodriguez. despite the flowers and the greetings, it was noticeably low key compared to the pope's airport arrival just 6 month ago at which raul castro received the pontiff. then there was pomp, but the circumstances surrounding this tripipare much different. the 2.5 day presidential swing still ununmfortable political divisions. not the prayerful reflections of a pope. with the wave and smile, the presidential limo adorned with cuban flags left. the first step the rousing welcome from the u.s. embassy employees and their families. the president's designated ambassador introduced him, invoking his campaign slogan, yes we kto drive home the historic change even if those >> like cuban relations like other things tackled in his presidency, he can say, we can now say, yes we did. >> reporter: president obama began his remarks with the history of the light hearted moment 9 decades in the making. >> in 1928 president coolidge came on a battleship. it took him 3 days to get here. it only took me 3 hours. >> anchor: before getting to the reason for his trip. >> this is forge new agreements and commercial deals and build new ties between our two peoples and for me, to lay out my vision for the future that's brighter than my past. it was time for the first family to hit the streets. >> the president came here to historic old havana to highlight the cornerstone ofof his cuban policy. direct people to people contact. over time he belilves that will but as change continues to unfold, the nod to the past. president obama taking in the sights stopping at a painting of abraham lincoln in a all church in the plaza de armis. and cheers went out outside the havana cathedral. here the president met with the cardinal ortega who is credited along with the pope who is helping to forge thaw a half century of bitterness between 2 countries with only 90 miles between them. the first family had dinner this evening at one of the legendary, very well known paladars. the family restaurant to san cristobal before calling it)a night because the president has a particularly long day tomorrow. more on that in a couple of minutes. meanwhile state run television since the announcement was made anthe president will visit and they have been reporting on the president the first faly quite a bit over these last several weeks leading up to the visit. so anticipation here has been building quite a bit and people were lining the streets to greet the first family as they made delaying his trip to mexico city. he was sitting at the bar to history. people and police lined up to watch the u.s. president and his motorcade making his way into old havana. my photographer and i pulled aside by police to chk our credentials, the organization we worked for. our pictures taken, too. the cuban born american citizen land nothing houston, texas. wearing a special outfit and landing for the event. president visit, pride. >> very proud. >> robbin: the weather wasn't picture perfect, but nothing could dampen the enthusiasm of those taking in a moment of history with their own eyes. >> (voice of interpreter): it's a shame that he got here with the rain, but it's okay. they're going to feel the warmth of the cuban people. >> robbin: and once in old havana, as the first family was heading to the museum, people were sheltering themselves from the rain at the entrance shouting "we love you, obama" so a lot of people really excited to be here for is historic moment. >> i think i saw a poll where the president's approval rating here on the island hovered somewhere around 80%. needless to say. love to have those approval numbers back at home. there were those, there are those, i should say, who are, of course, bitterly opposed to skeptical of the president's initiatives opening the new relationship and we heard from them today. >> some people not so focused on president obama today focusing instead on the cuban government, on the human rights issues here. but there was a worldwide audience because of the president's visit and the dissidents and ladi in white protest weekly had a new audience. >> (voice of interpreter): people in miami are the ones who pay them. they send people here. everybody in cuba knows that. torture? what torture? that doesn't happen here, never. >> robbin: in the face of e group vowing to demonstrate every weekend for change. there was no torture scene in the street earlier sunday, but there was this. protesters aligned of what is on his official schedule as he spends the day here this monday. he'll place a wreath at the jose martin memorial. he, the poet and writer and symbol of the country's p he'll attend a welcoming ceremony th raul castro and will hold a joint news conference and wrap up the evening attending a state dinner with the castros tomorrow evening here and we'll watch for tuesday as robbin the president touched down, it heated up. in the statement the u.s. rereesentative said the president should refuse to shake the blood-stained hands of the cuban people's oppressors and instead meet more storms before something new comes our way. >> anchor: meteorologist brent cameron in the weather center with this. brent? >> brent: it seems like we've been here in south florida for quite some time and of to the weekend we had clouds and the rain moving into our area and air out of the south most of the time. at least going back to last friday. and now the flip flop coming as winds will change behind a front coming out the north with much dryer air. now we're not there yet just yet. here's the check on the radar for tonight. of the straights and crossing into the keys and some rain patches here and there and d a few additional showers coming as we go through the overnight tonight. still with deep layer clouds over the south and parts of central florida. the back edge of the clouds right now around tampa bay extending to cape canaveral and call for a few light showers and maybe some sprinkles during the overnight and breezy conditions until that front croses. lots of spring breakers wanting to be here for warm air. going to have to wait a little bit because temperatures set back quite a bit @and this is the high temperature and some models forecasting the highs in qhe 60s with the winds out of the north and adding to the chill tomorrow and lingering into tuesday as well. notice the temperatures go up like stair steps later in the approaches. more on this coming uwith your entire forecast. >> jeff: a university of miami student is dead after attending an annual music festival that has seen injuries and even death before. still not clear tonight how he died. moments, a local college community is grieving. >> ultra music festival ending on a somber note after adam levine transferred from bay front park later dying at the hospital. >> adam levi was here at ultra and apparently had a medical condition requiring fire rescue to respond. >> speaking to just one station. levine in distress on friday notifying miami fire and rescue. >> the security personnel recognized it and able to bring him in. they treated him on the scene and transported him to jackson memorial hospital. >> according to the obituary he died of complications following the seizure. the school releasing a statement sayiyi in part, i know the u.m. community will join me and his family and friends in honoring adam's memory in this difficult time while those who knew him best grgrve. >> even if you didn't know adam you knew he was a great student and ambassador of this university. >> reporter: ultra music festival drawing more than 165,000 peopleover the weekend representing nearly 90 countries. unfortunately levine's death not the first time the event took a tragic turn. in 2014 security guard erica mack seriously injured after being trampled under a fence. that same year 21 year old adonis escotto found dead in a listing the cause as a drug over dose. >> that's tough. it's never an easy thing to do. >> reporter: martinez said he spoke to levine's father saturday and while the circumstances are still unclear, he offered is to the family in mourning. >> i'm a father of 3 children in that age rage and i did speak with mr. levine personal yesterday on the telephone and expressed condolences from myself and the ultra music family here in miami. >> reporter: and while the investigation continues, the reps for ultra music festival say they will cooperate with lewindowski's left. the video clearly shows the protester reacting to the man who pulled him, not to mr. lewindowski. once the video leaked it became difficult for team trump to deny what happened. trump said this about the actions. >> i give him credit for having spirit. he wanted them to take down signs. >> jeff: this after michelle fields earlier this month accused him of grabbing her by the arm at a news conference. he and the trump campaign say the accusations are false. >> jeff: protests have escalated across the country at campaign events. in arizona this weekend, more than 100 protesters used cars to block supporters from getting to a trump rally. and this video is said to show prototters punched and kicked by a trump supporter at a tucson rally. >> i had a sign that said bad for america and it had trump with the confederate e ag super imposed on his face. the guy grabbed the sign out of my right hand and sucker punched me and then he got on top of me ananhit me a flight came crashing down during its second landing attempt saturday morning. the plane bursting into flam upon impact. all 62 people on board were killed. officials say strong winds and poor visibility may be to blame and the boeing 737 and reportedly circled the airport for at least 2 hours for attempting to land. it's coming from the wreckage and currently being examined. the investigation is expected to take several months. speaking to earthquake survivors during the trip to nepal. the prince touring the site's damage last year. the 7.8 magnitude quake killed more than tomorrow afternoon of just 70 with the brisk winds and then it is to south florida standards. and sprinkles on the first day of spring and now night and now we nd temperatures in the 50s and warming up on the warm side for billings montana which may very well be warmer than us in south florida and it is that edge with the front that may impact us later in the work week and the west coast and traveling to the northeast and it is mpered with the snow system and for us the wind and cooler air coming our way. place and that includes you in the keys for tonight and waters turning choppy and for the day tomorrow clouds lingering and then sunshine returns tomorrow. high temperatures right at 75 and notching up after that and bring back the rain but not until the first part of the easter
