boy died after being stabbed inside the station yesterday. >> he is the second 15-year-old killed after a confrontation at that metro station in less than three week. let's go live now to molette green outside of police headquarters with more on this arrest. >> reporter: good morning. yeah, and that's why we're outside d.c. police headquarters where we expect to learn later today details. the suspect's name and anything about the arrest that was made late last night. shomari stone reported this development on twitter. now, an arrest comes just hours after police put out a picture of the person of interest described as a young man between 14 and 20. pictured here. we're working to find out if this is the person police act l actually arrested in the stabbing death of john evans. someone stabbed the 15-ye gate and headed toward an escalator at the deanwood station on monday. we learned he was in d.c. for a court appearance. evans' stabbing comes just three weeks after another teen davonte washington was shot and killed at the same metro station. these murders weeks apart at the same metro station involving minors have stunned that ward seven community and raised concerns about a lack of police presence at deanwood in both cases. molette green, news 4. back to you. only on news 4 this morning, you will hear from the power of the victim 15-year-old john evans. she says she feels empty after her son was murdered at the deanwood metro station. wells recently moved to richmond to keep her son away from the violence in northeast washington. she says her son kissed her before he left the house yesterday morning. >> i just wish i would have with him this morning. i really did. that was my first born child. i just feel empty. it's hard for any parent to go through something like that. >> while living in d.c., the victim attended richard wright public charter school in northeast. if you drive drunk in maryland, you'll soon face some of the toughest penalties in the thags. late last night, maryland state lawmakers passed noah's law, that bill requires anyone convicted of drunk driving with a 0.08 or higher blood alcohol level to have an ignition interlock device in their car. governor larry hogan is expected to sign this bill into law. p. >> you will always know that noah is still on the job every single time an ignition interlock stops a drunk driver from starting their car. >> montgomery county police officer noah leotta was hit and killed by a suspected drunk er recognized by the general assembly for fighting since his death to get this bill the jgeneral assembly also passd the few criminal justice reform bill that aims to reduce sentences for nonviolent drug offenders and focus on treatment. the plan to change on how officers are hired, trained also passed. a tax relief plan and a bill to require companies with at least 15 employees to provide paid sick days failed to move forward. two people will receive awards for their help in catching a man who terrorized a charlottesville community and led police on a nationwide manhunt. our affiliate in charlottesville learned the local crime stoppers branch will give rewards to the woman who spotted jesse matthew jr. in texas leading to his arrest back in 2014. it will also award a person in the charlottesville area who helped police. matthew pled guilty to first-degree murder in the cases of both morgan harrington and hannah brown. a former women's basketball coach with ties to maryland has been acquitted on sex abuse charges. bryce mckee was briefly an assistant coach for the ufrt university of maryland, but the charges stem from the time at xavier. a player accused him of groping her. a judge found mckee not guilty. mckee resigned from maryland in august after the charges were filed and an attorney for the player called the ruling sad. another fight at a donald trump rally. this time in upstate this morning. you can see a man push another man in the face twice here. police in albany say they took one of the men out of the crowd yesterday, but did not make any arrests. trump will take part in a cnn town hall tonight. the gop frontrunner may be asked about accusations he made on sunday that the nomination process is rigged. in recent weeks, senator ted cruz has collected more delegates than trump despite trump's claims that he is winning more votes. senator cruz suggested trump was, quote, whining. john kasich the ohio governor called the nomination process, quote, bizarre. one week away from the critical new york primary and democratic hopefuls senator bernie sanders and hillary clinton will campaign again today in the empire state. and nbc news wall street journal harris poll puts clinton ahead of sanders by 14 points heading in to their brooklyn debate on thursday. the poll has a margin of error of about four points. w alexandria fire chief is about to be named the next fire commissioner of philadelphia. that announcement is blocking the right lane. police say a tragedy might have been prevented at a baby shower in charles county after officers stopped a man with a rifle. the charles county sheriff's office says 21-year-old rodrigu rodrigueze nowlin jr. grabbed a rifle out of a car after arguing with a man. guests saw what was happening and street flagged down officers to help. >> he fried to hide behind a vehicle, the officer was able to call him out, the weapon was eventually recovered. >> nowlin faces several charges. . investigators say the gun was reported stolen in north caroli carolina. mayor muriel bowser brought good news to a community where a 7-year-old girl was shot last friday. she announced the arrest of michael wiggins. a stray bullet from wiggins' gun hit her while she was on a walk with her family. she remains in fair condition at the hospital. the anne arundel county sheriff plans to be back at work. sheriff ronald bateman says he will not be carrying a weapon and will only handle administrative tasks as an investigation unfolds after being charged with second degree assault after finding his wife wi family home. the sheriff says the incident was, quote, just very the man accused of gunning down a former nfl player says the suspect feared for his life. cardell hayes is accused of killing former saints player will smith. prosecutors say it was a case of road the car and shot in the leg. she is expected to be okay. an update to the of texas where a police officer slammed a 12-year-old to the ground. the video can be tough to watch. the officer has been student was not seriously hurt. 5:25. happening today, a federal court will decide whether bill cosby's wife camille will have to continue her testimony in a lawsuit against him. seven women in massachusetts accused the comedian of sexual assault and defamation. camille cosby gave a contentious deposition in february and at the time she refuse answer nearly 100 questions. a hearing will be fine. travel times in ten minutes. a $15 minimum wage could soon be a reality for local workers. lawmakers are considering it here in d.c. and montgomery county. bills to raise the minimum wage have already passed in san francisco, new york city, seattle and l.a. kristin wright is live at the shady grove metro station to break down a new plan being introduced today. kristin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. people here at the shady grove metro station are headed to work, many of them minimum wage workers making only $9.55 an hour in montgomery county and many of them feeling like that is simply not a living wage. so today, a member of the montgomery county council will introduce a bill to gradually raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour by july of 2020. pay would go up to $12.50 in 2018, $13.75 in 20 $15 in 2020. d.c. mayor muriel bowser wants to raise the minimum wage in the district to $15, as well. this morning at 6:30, we'll tell you how much the minimum wage is slated to go up in montgomery county over the next couple of years including this summer. back to you. >> kristin wright in shady grove, thank you. judge merrick garland has what could be his most important meeting today in the nomination process for the supreme court. garland will sit down with chuck grassley this morning. grassley is key in deciding whether the senate will hold a confirmation hearing for garland. many republican lawmakers are pushing against the hearing. they say president obama should not be allowed to fill antonin scalia's position in the last year of his presidency. bono will testify about violent extremism on capitol hill today. he will be before the state and foreign operations subcommittee. the singer plans to talk about the role of foreign countries to help fight terrorism. bono will be joined by blinken and former national security adviser retired general james jones. an are arrest warrant has been issued for a man suspected of trying to jump the white house fence. jose fuertes did not show up at court yesterday. he was arrested on the bike racks that serve as a barrier before the white house fence. fuertes was charged with a misdemeanor. two of metro's busiest stations could soon get name changes. metro is trying to decide if it should add national mall to the smithsonian station's name or kennedy center for the foggy bottom george washington university station. it would mean changing signs that would cost thousands of dollars. the district would have to foot the bill for that. some riders are not convinced the name change is police say leah arrington was watching the child when she stabbed her in the lower body. this incident happened saturday arrington is being held without bond. some pretty odd video out of central
