>> well, chris, first, i want to show you exactly where we are. we're on green belt road. you can see this is where the cruiser crashed into this backyard fence. there are no balloons and flowers set up here at this scene. now, a lot of new information has come out sense we reported the story this morning. witnesses here told me that there was a woman in the cruiser with the officer this morning. that woman was out of the cruiser when they came out here and was crying. she was what they described as hysterical. prince georges county police are now confirming that information that there was a woman in the cruiser. we don't know who she was at this point. now, police are also letting us know that this officer was technically off duty initially. last night he was off duty but then when he initiated this traffic stop with lights and siren, that's when he became on duty and that's why they are calling this a line of duty death. he initiated this traffic stop right around green belt road here. the officer has been identified as brennan robane. he was 26 years old and served on the force for less than two years. he initiate thad traffic stop right around 3:30 this morning. we're told again, lights and sirens and he lost control and hit that backyard fence, and he died on the scene. let's hear from a witness who talked about seeing this woman and hearing this woman as well as the chief of prince georges county police. >> so i went to the door. i heard a female screaming, you know for help so i ran to the back of the house to see what was going on and that's where i noticed that the car had crashed into the back of the backyard. >> around 3:00, 3:30 this morning officer robane was attempting to make a traffic stop in the 9700 block of green belt road. at that time he lost control of his vehicle. he left the roadway and hit a wooden fence. >> so again, police are telling us this is still an active investigation. they are hoping to release additional information as they can, but, again, a woman was in the cruiser. we're told she was, many of the, in shock and is currently being sedated or hoping to talk to her sometime soon. we're reporting live darcy spencer, news 4. police heard a loud bang or people heard a loud bang outside the white house, and they saw thick smoke and flames from a vendor car. the car caught fire just as president obama and his family were about to fly out to selma. the secret service had to lock down the white house for a while. agents checked out the area around 15th and g, but there was no threat to the first family and the owner spent the afternoon trying to salvage what's left of that car. bomb-sniffing dogs did detect something on a car parked nearby at 16th and constitution. secret service agents checked it out, but didn't find anything danger wrushs the obamas had to stay inside until they got the all clear and had their trip delayed by about 40 mi investigators say a teenager ran over a pedestrian in montgomery county this morning and may have been drink and driving. the man she hit died. he was walking through montgomery village at the intersection of gochan road and east village drive. news 4's derek ward has new information about the teenage driver a >> montgomery county police say it was about 1:22 in the morning when the victim was walking along gochan road near this intersection. they say he was struck by a car that was headed southbound on gochan road found on the side of the road unconscious and bleeding. he was taken to a hospital where he died at about 2:00 a.m. now, police also say that shortly after the incident they located a suspect. the woman parked in the car that matched the striking vehicle's description a short distance from here. 19-year-old helen ramell was latansville was taken into custody amid evidence she had been under the influence of alcohol. police say she was administered a breathalyzer test and results are pending. no charges have been filed. in montgomery county derek ward news 4. stlirchlgts well some local students were taking aim at a new tournament. why organizers say a bow and arrow can help develop valuable classroo. there have been some powerful speeches in selma today. none more so than a congressman who was beaten on bloody sunday. >> we've come to selma to be renewed. we've come to be inspired. we've come to be reminded that we must do the work that calls us >> more than 100 students took aim in the d.c. public school's first ever archery tournament. fourth graders through high school seniors took part today thanks it a federal grant that funded the tournament. teachers say archery developed skills can translate to classrooms. things are certainly heating up bought could some rain ob the way?
