Officials with Water Resources and the Sheriffs Office have been inspecting the dam and its spillways all morning trying to identify their options to shore up the infrastructure here. Some good news. They have lowered the lake level to the point where no overflow is going through that emergency spillway. The spillway was causing erosion down tree downstream. There was concern the erosion could break through the wall of the lake, unleashing a 30 foot wall of water, crossing south overwhelming channels and levees downstream. That is what led to the evacuation of 188,000 people. Apparently theres a complication with some of the valves not working. This meant some people in the surrounding apartments and condominiums had low water pressure. Once all the valves are shut off and repaired, that means some people will be without water and normally with no water, that also means no heat. I didnt really want to say frustrated, but concerned.
