in seven men overall will be found to have prostate cancer. but certainly the african-american population is at high risk and people with a family history. currently we recommend that all men get screened in their 40s and 50s and probably by age 55 make sure they are getting tested regularly for prostate cancer. >> at what age. recommendations. it's recommended to start at age 55. it's important for men to understand their own numbers and their family history. men that have a higher risk certainly want to start earlier. >> michael how are you doing right now. weekly your advice for other fortunately i found the early when it was treatable and i think the advice i give other men is to know their family history. make sure that they have a conversation with her doctor early on in the diagnosis. >> i really wasn't diagnosed there that's where my journey started. i learned they are all this information about the importance of knowing your family history . i didn't know that prostate cancer ran in my family but the doctor gave me a lot of statistics that one in five african african-american men would be died most with this and in the three chance. with that information when i got home i called my primary care doctor . he looked at my chart saw that i did have a rise in my psa results and he sent me for biopsy. that is really the only way you can tell if you cancer. you're not to find out at a screening. >> doctor who is a mostly at risk for prostate cancer. >> michael said just now most men should be checked for it because it is such a common disease. about one in seven men overall will be found to have prostate cancer. but certainly the african-american population is at high risk and people with a family history. currently we recommend that all men get screened in their 40s and 50s and probably by age 55 make sure they are getting tested regularly for prostate cancer. >> at what age. recommendations. it's recommended to start at age 55. it's important for men to understand their own numbers and their family history. men that have a higher risk certainly want to start earlier. >> michael how are you doing right now. weekly your advice for other fortunately i found the early when it was treatable and i think the advice i give other men is to know their family history. make sure that they have a conversation with her doctor early on in
